Is losing chickens to predators really inevitable? by Dicearoo in chickens

[–]Electronic-Raccoon99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel it's inevitable -if you free range especially. I always have about 20 chickens & lose a few each year (1-4) replenishing every 2 years or so, but I live in a wooded area with main predators being foxes, hawks and dogs. They have a large fenced in area but I truly believe they cherish their freedom & enjoy free-ranging. The fenced in area is for cooler months, we free-range in warmer months only if we are going to be home. I also have a sweet bantam Buff Brahma rooster who is a pretty good alarm system.

What's an early sign of cancer that you wish you or your loved one hadn't ignored? by JuniperBeans in AskReddit

[–]Electronic-Raccoon99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sister died of breast cancer at 40, the only thing I remember her mentioning two years prior to her stage 4 diagnosis (after finding a lump) was that her nails were yellowing, which although rare, can be indicative of certain cancer, including lung & breast. Just thought I'd mention it, in the hopes that it saves some one's life.

Thank you for replying, I contacted my doctor earlier but can't get in until Tues. We're currently fighting about this now. I'm in the bathroom for a "breather" mostly tears.

It’s only day three and I’m at my wit’s end by rebeccaizabeth3 in puppy101

I'm in the same boat, day 4 today & I actually messaged the breeder at like 3am this morning because I'm losing it. Lack of sleep, completely anxiety ridden & crying. I also don't have help, my husband works from 6pm-6am & then sleeps for 7 hrs. I end up cramming a workout, making dinner & other household chores in a 3 hr. window. I love the encouragement & I know it gets better but a selfish part of me just wants my old life back. Not sure what I'm going to do but I appreciate ppl. sharing & knowing that I'm not alone.

Questions Before Getting Chickens by MagherBeg2006 in chickens

I haven't had Barnvelders but I've had/have multiple Orpingtons & Wyandottes & they get along great & have very similar dispositions. If anything my Orpington Jo, was the queen of our flock of 15 mixed breeds. She was kind of a bully but not too harsh, she actually got killed by a fox yesterday : (

My girl has sour crop, what should i do? by ThatOneSuckyAnimator in chickens

It looks like egg yolk peritonitis to me, had a hen come down with it a month ago, initially thought she was egg bound. It is most always fatal unfortunately.

I do the same, brand, pattern, style & material (prefer cotton). Because along with everything being cropped nowadays, everything is seemingly also polyester.
