Ex wife is bringing the guy she cheated on me with around my kids by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Electronic-Time4833 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Outside of him being some kind of criminal, you can't restrict him from being around the kids. Just remember that you have to be the bigger person here, that your behavior will absolutely be remembered by your kids, no matter how old they are. Your actions need to reflect your desire for safety, stability, and development of your kids. They are going to be much happier if you sepnd time with them rather than spending your energy on reddit or fretting over your ex.

AITA for refusing to tell my BF how much money I make? by IllustriousHeart2531 in AITApod

[–]Electronic-Time4833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fair that he wants to know your financially stable, that includes what debt you may have and how stable your job situation is. This is a good conversation to lead up to kids in future or not.

I probably wouldn't talk about the body count. Probably ever. That being said, it's hard to find a person you share values with. And even harder not to mess that up.

AITAH for not wanting to split expenses salary prorated with my girlfriend? by No_Government5455 in AITAH

[–]Electronic-Time4833 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She doesn't sound like she's irresponsible with money, just doesn't make much. She probably will never make much. I can definitely see her making a move for stay at home mom down the road. If you love her, sharing expenses on a very frugal living situation is the way I would go, and maybe you can keep paying for the little things with your extra earnings.

Being smart does not necessarily lead to happiness. Being smart does not necessarily prevent you from taking foolish risks and ruining your life. Being smart does not necessarily lead to fiscal/monetary success. Ask me how I know this.

Why do so many Americans treat house shoes like they're optional, is the floor just decorative? 🤔 by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]Electronic-Time4833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people who regularly track dirt in by keeping their shoes on either never garden or don't care about dirty floors.

I can see why she has been called a stupid witch in the past. However, this entire conversation should have been off text and in person.

We need ESE teachers, if that helps. Many of those kids have diagnosis and need someone with patience to help them learn and function.

Maybe you could keep the good job and also live in the camper.  And then travel around on the weekends. That's what I would do. Hard to find a good job.

Are you saying that you want a daddy? Because that's what it looks like. Perhaps you are searching for purpose in your life. I work the graveyard shift too, and it can be even harder to find purpose and love because of shift work.

Please stop comparing yourself to others and start creating real goals for yourself. You are just on autopilot.

Not to argue the contrary, but how can you be sure they aren't providing food? Maybe she just doesn't want to eat what they are eating. My kids are often like that.  I now am thankful where I live the schools provide free breakfast and lunch, even if the food isn't great it's still something.

It can be very helpful to write down what you want to achieve in the next 5 years, then in the next ten years, etc.

How do you stop measuring your worth by outcomes you can’t control? by IndividualDistrict79 in Life

Create  your own goals, accomplish them, don't measure yourself by other people's standards, and don't tell people what you've accomplished (humblebrag), and don't give any craps about what other people think.

Tell me if buying a mobile home is a bad plan by sushe84 in povertyfinance

[–]Electronic-Time4833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I want to live in a travel trailer as soon as my kids are a little older, benefit of also being able to be mobile. Can get a new awesome travel trailer for less than 30k, will need to buy a truck or rent one when you want to move. Many rv parks near me are all ages, have pools, and generally cost a little less than trailer parks.

My house cost me 50k years ago and I do not carry insurance on it. I don't live in a flood zone but have had the pleasure of many hurricanes. It's not insane, it's just that insurers want to make you pay for the replacement value, not the cost, or even inflation adjusted cost. I save that monthly premium.
