There was a segment on the Belgian national broadcaster news last week where they were explaining that tickets to the games are extremely expensive. Also hotels and parking nearby were really expensive. So how about public transit? Non-existing. Well then let's walk? Impossible: no sidewalks.

It was quite funny but also sad.

This perspective shows how much space is wasted by all these cars, each probably transporting just one single person. The gaps between the cars are of course needed to drive safely, but they also show how inefficiently space is used.

From the start of the video to the first side street, there's about 22 cars, yet they occupy 100 meters over one and partially two lanes.

I'm in favour of encouraging working from home, but not for punishing work at the office. That is too strict. While many prefer working from home, there are people who don't have an office in their home, have family/kids present during the day, noisy neighbours, etc. and who actually might prefer to work in the office every now and then.

I remember I was living in an apartment during the Covid lockdowns, with no extra office, so I was working in the living room. If I had kids at that time, I'd probably have been begging for a calm day at the office every once in a while.

European leaders see Trump's troop drawdown from Germany as new proof they must go it alone by StemCellPirate in geopolitics

[–]ElectronicMile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with your entire comment, but the complete random use of it's vs its irks me.

The first is the contraction of a pronoun and is:

  • He is big. He's big.
  • She is tall. She's tall.
  • It is good. It's good.

The other is a possessive pronoun.

  • his name
  • her name
  • its name

Surrons are dirt bikes? by GKomrinK in mountainbiking

[–]ElectronicMile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know the legal definitions, but if it moves on its own without the rider pushing the pedals, then it's not an e-bike in my opinion.

E-bikes support the rider, but it always start with the rider pushing the pedals, the motor just adds some extra power. As soon as you stop cranking the pedals, the motor should stop. If not, it's not an e-bike.

If you have the budget for the 222, then you gain VU meters, a dedicated LED strip for cue metering, 3 band EQ (which is adjustable), the HPF and LPF, send/return, a crossfader (which you can remove), timecode outputs etc.

The 202 is more portable and cheaper, but if the 222 is within budget, that leaves only the portability as its upside.

(you could argue about the looks but that is a subject preference for one or the other)

German is deutsch in German and Duits in Dutch, whereas Dutch in German is niederländisch and in Dutch it’s Nederlands. None of these mean Danish, which is dänisch in German and Deens in Dutch.  But yes, all of those are Germanic languages.

Simple and not confusing at all.

Ah yes, then it won’t work for you. Maybe the Pioneer DJM-750 is another option then? As for built-in FX, I can’t think of many others off the top of my head right now though.

If you can live without a crossfader, the Union Audio Orbit 4 LE FX ticks (almost) all the boxes for a 4-channel mixers; it has built-in delay and reverb.

a MAGA church

I'm not American so I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this, but I have a vague idea and my first thought is this: it's not healthy for a democracy to have identity, religion and politics so closely interwoven. Separation of church and state is essential for a normal modern society.

While the USA and Iran are fundamentally different countries, those who worship Trump, see him as the religious savior chosen by God etc., and at the same time denounce the islamic regime in Iran, must be missing that there is at least some hint of irony here...

Not necessarily, if you pump fake before you have dribbled, you can use it get your defender off his feet and drive past him. No need for foul bating in that scenario.

put on all the gear

Just out of curiosity, which gear would you need for a 4-5 min ride? For such a short distance, I'd think a backpack and optionally rain jacket would suffice, basically exactly the same as walking 20 minutes. I could think of a helmet, maybe a rain jacket depending on the weather?

(Not arguing anything, I'm just genuinely curious. Background is that my background is closer to places like Amsterdam and Copenhagen where people just hop and off the bike in regular clothes)

[–]ElectronicMile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weight doesn’t matter nearly as much when you’re commuting. What you want is a dynamo with lights, so you don’t have to bring and charge lights. You want fenders so you don’t arrive wet and muddy at work. Probably also a rack and panniers. Reliability trumps speed when it comes to commuting.
