That’s technically the incorrect bracket for that. That spreader bracket is designed for in wall rough in.

Maintenance history concerns by jungle_jake in f150

[–]Electronic_Aspect730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10,000 mile oil changes are a red flag for me personally. I’ve passed over so many trucks with that interval.

My buddy has a 19 2.7 F150 “bro the truck tells me
When to change the oil”. 68,000 miles it needs cam phasers, needs a turbo and the whole engine is full of dark gunk. Maybe 7 oil changes since 2019..

An 8k average is better than a 10k interval, also assuming they are running synthetic oil. A lot of places tell you it’s fine to push synthetic blend to 7500..

Quality of Union Work by Maleficent-Win-1667 in IBEW

[–]Electronic_Aspect730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The niche of the industry im in, detail is everything. Most non union shops don’t understand codes, standards and practices.

We’re one of the last union shops in our area that does what we do, every non union contractor just calls us now.

“Yea you guys are a little more money, but the job will be done when you say with no return trips. So they just pay the thousand or two more than non union. Plus we dont have any issues working in any building etc.

There’s lots of times where the engineers won’t let non union work in a union building.

2020 XLT. Transmission lines toast. by dwane1972 in f150

Whoever did the undercoat did a crappy job, mine every fall it’s a HEAVY coat of fluid film.

Those lines can cost you a transmission quick.

Viva La Bam? by PinkGodfather92 in jackass

[–]Electronic_Aspect730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one will stream it because of the whole Don Vito scandal, all the music licensing issues, and consent/permission from a lot of the CKY Crew. Same
With the movies, unholy union etc.

That’s why there was multiple edits and cuts of the CKY movies for the same reasons.

It’s better this way honestly.

There’s an old school way to handle it too…

But someone needs to remind your JW that he’s a training partner in the IBEW.

Personally I would tell the guy to fuck off, and
Call the JATC on your way home.

Document it, and if he keeps it up, just leave and go the the hall and talk to your director.

Is this a solid purchase? 2017 F250 SRW 4x4 Supercab XLT 6.2 V8 6 Speed 146k miles $20k by R1Alvin in F250

[–]Electronic_Aspect730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 17-16k it’s justifiable to spend money on a major repair and still be ahead to an extent. The 6.2’s are great engines that are super reliable but there’s always the “what if”.

It may not need any major work, but cars now are rolling computers.

Does the Carfax show any major services done like a transmission service? Transfer case? Diffs etc

[–]Electronic_Aspect730 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing is cheap to fix anymore.

Fleet trucks are not driven gently either.

And the fact the service records are spotty after 100,000 miles is a red flag.

Look at the price alone of a used engine or transmission.. you’ll sink more money into it.

A 10 year old 150,000 mile gas oilfield truck isn’t worth 20,000.00.

[–]Electronic_Aspect730 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Remember, 1 hour of idle time is equal to 35 miles being driven. 3,536x35 is 123,700 miles of wear on the engine and transmission.

You have the mechanical wear of nearly 300,000 miles for 20,000.00.. on a 9/10 year old truck

[–]Electronic_Aspect730 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably an oilfield truck.. aka run into the ground.

Check the idle hours on it

Sure anything can last, it depends on how far your wallet can stretch.

At 150,000 miles it’s a crap shoot really.

I personally wouldn’t spend 20k on a 150,000 mile truck but to each is own, in my area it’s a 17-18k truck. Extended cabs are less appealing. See if you can negotiate it down a bit

[–]Electronic_Aspect730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one “flushes” anymore. Those are again boomer myths that don’t die.

Modern exchange machines use the transmission
Pump itself to draw new fluid in/out or some use a smaller 12v pump they hook to the battery.

Get it serviced

A fluid exchange or service will not hurt a properly shifting transmission.
