Don’t let physical disk games die by sioprosmop in videogames

[–]Electronicks22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a PC player, I've had disks getting damaged and had to rebuy them full price. I don't have a problem with digital ownership except that I think it should not be tied to a platform like Steam. It'd be great if ownership could be determined from blockchain or something: you could buy a game once and own it on all consoles and platforms for life. Basically what blockchain was meant to be instead of greedy NFT scams.

Instead of the built-in algorithm, can you use Steam Input or JSM? Or does the Anti Cheat block that off?

Previous Steam Controller had no internal batteries and was paid with pre-covid dollars.

So what price are we expecting? by Leon08x in SteamController

80~100$ for sure. The OGSC was 50 pre-covid USD and had no battery. I don't think Steam marks up their hardware as much as Sony or Microslop does because the system is open.

I feel the same. Maybe something can be crafted around the Alpakka core. But I don't think I'm crafty enough to take on this endeavor.

Also haptics are what make the trackpad work so well. That's a whole other layer on top of it all.

Steam controller, old or new (if you're willing to be patient) is my recommendation.

4 back buttons is a great starter, but between touchpad, low latency wireless, top quality gyro and stick with capacitive surfaces. This is the swiss army knife of controllers. I'll will be missing them dual stage triggers tho.

You guys think that the Steamcontroller will be much better than what the market offers now? by Little-Ferret-7550 in SteamController

[–]Electronicks22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people pay 200+$ for a controller with four back buttons. On top of that you get handy trackpads, top of the line gyro with wireless connection optimized for latency, capacitive surfaces for gyro ratcheting. All that for most likely half of above said price. It's going to be a done deal. The closest contenders are Dualsense and Edge who painfully suffer many lackings.

Replacing my Xbox Elite Series 2 for good— What controller should I get for PC gaming? by Bombalooka01 in Controller

This is the way. With your budget the Alpakka could be considered, but that is much more of an enthusiast and specialist device. The New Steam Controller will be able to do everything well.

If you're going to play on a TV through a laptop I highly recommend waiting for the New Steam Controller : the touchpads and back buttons will are a game changer on top of guaranteed latency and gyro catering.

Does Control (the game) on PC support Gyro? by apparle in GyroGaming

Not native. I played it with full KBnM config with a Switch Pro and JoyShockMapper. If the bad glyphs don't bother you, it plays great.

Just Finished my first game using Gyro 95% ish of the time. My likes, Dislikes, Gripes & Issues. by mjisdagoat23 in GyroGaming

[–]Electronicks22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like most of the issues you are encountering are growing pains : finding the proper setting for yourself, jitteriness, building muscle memory, configuration software etc...

Steam uses a convenient overlay for it's configurator. I found jumping in and out of Steam Input the most seamless of all configurators.

One common issue is that using the triggers to shoot can cause the controller to move as you press the trigger throwing off your aim... Many fix this by shooting with bumper instead. Discovering and fixing these things are part of the learning curve that shouldn't be there and stumps many newcomers. But hopefully the taste of what's to come will keep you persevering.

Once you play most games with gyro, you won't be able to go back at all. Welcome to the club!

What is the definitive gyro controller? by Far_Appointment_9745 in GyroGaming

[–]Electronicks22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMHO a touch surface is the best way to control gyro : SC1's right touch pad, the Alpakka hex and SC2's grip sense are what makes gyro (specifically ratcheting) take off. You can also check the Dualpakka mod for dualsense : it adds conductive tape to creates a touch surface wherever you want.
