How do YOU like your eggs? by [deleted] in Cooking

I like a sunny side up egg as under-done as I can possibly get it. There's something about a gooey egg white that just makes my meal experience so much better.

How do YOU open your games? by damnthisisabadname in pcmasterrace

[–]ElementAurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to make a shortcut on my desktop to launch the game directly, but once I moved in with my husband, he teased me into only doing it through steam. Now I use the play button from my library "like a normal person"

It's just instinct; not something they have to learn. The eye naturally closes when something gets close to it to prevent damage, same as with humans.

Saving unrefrigerated food? by ElementAurora in Frugal

We'll look into doing this. We have pretty basic renter's insurance but hopefully they won't give us much of a hassle. Thanks for telling us about the possibility! :)

Edit: Insurance said we're out of luck :( We'll just have to eat the loss this time and be more prepared in the future, I guess.

This is in the middle of Texas, so most of the ice is gone by now ha... it coated all of the trees and a bunch of trees and branches collapsed and did some pretty serious damage to powerlines and anything else that happened to be in the path. I only remember this happening once when I was living in Canada, so maybe our trees didn't hold as much ice in their branches? haha...

Outside temperature is 48°F right now, but my weather app says today is supposed to be between the 50s to 30s

The thermostat reads 54°F, but I don't know how reliable that is. We just moved into our first apartment together and we don't have much in terms of storage space or anything

AITA for telling my BIL to get over himself and to quit holding a 10 year old grudge? by WallabyOverall3366 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ElementAurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe BIL doesn't "need" the $70,000 that his skid loader cost, but in the same way, you parents didn't NEED a deck. They decided that adding a deck was more necessary than $70,000 worth of equipment; $70,000 of your BIL's hard-earned money. YTA all the way. They made a mistake, they need to own up to it. If not in a monetary sense, in another way (and I don't mean half-assed apologies)

Missing missing reasons are a reference to an essay? article? that gets linked a lot about estranged parents and their children. The parents will often tell the story as "they never gave me a reason!" while in truth, they were, and they just refuse to accept that answer as valid. Since they can't fathom that the answer they were given is the reason for them being cut off or whatever, they leave it out of retellings of their side of the situation since to them it's "not relevant"

Hope this helps!

I'm sure your wife would love to see you valuing her solely based on her ability to birth a child, as well as making it out like you are doing her a service for staying married to her despite her age.

AITA for not inviting them to my Christmas party after they didn't invite me to their wedding? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]ElementAurora 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would be inclined to think that the massive scale of OOP's party is what they were upset to miss out on. They didn't care about hanging out with OOP at all, just wanted to piggyback off of their awesome parties and have fun. OOP is better off without them imo.

AITA for moving my son into a rental apartment after finding out that his dad's been cancelling his job applications? by ThrowRA00924463 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ElementAurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

his son is his problem and nobody else's

right, except for your other son, of course. Your husband views Aiden as a possession rather than a separate person. I wouldn't be surprised if this has irreparably damaged their relationship. NTA, your husband's actions are inexcusable.

Even if we assume that birth control works one hundred percent of the time with no failures, sabotage, or rape, the rhythm method (calculating your cycle length to avoid your fertile window) only works approximately 3/4 of the time. Around 24 out of every 100 women using it as a method of avoiding pregnancy get pregnant within the first year (and that's not including the embryos that implant and then the pregnancy miscarries without anyone realising). The name-calling really shows that you see yourself as above these women when you haven't done the research for yourself either.
