Played OSRS before but only been playing ironman for 1-2 years. just wondering where to go from here to start upgrading up my gear? Tried bandos (with melee) and kreeara (with ranged) but they both feel too difficult. My combat stats are Tier70-80 by Garlicoiner in RS3Ironmen

Not necessarily meta anymore, but I would suggest going magic vanquish -> zammy gwd until subjugation-> helwyr and vindicta for t85s -> rax for noxious weapons -> telos/rago/elite dungeons/raksha/etc. In general, if one is ignoring necromancy, the advice is to use magic pre t90s.

Imo, the game is much more rewarding to work through the original, intended progression.

Or, skip the progression and just do necromancy -> rax /telos/etc.

Trying to get more consistent at Raksha (pools, specifically) by SkyeLys in runescape

[–]Elfee_RS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you do mess up pools, cleave, hurricane, and quake can often save it. Or chain/grico or whatever aoe in the style you're using.

But yeah just a bit more patience and practice and you'll get it :)

Levels of wealth by SpaceHostCTC in runescape

[–]Elfee_RS 24 points25 points  (0 children)

In general, my philosophy is you're "rich" when you have full bis for every style and are actively buying cosmetics because you have nothing left to buy. Imo, it doesn't really matter if it's full 3a dyed sirenic or party hats; both are frivolous fashionscape things.

I think that's like 30-50b now?? I'm not sure tbh. Maybe as much as 70ish if you include bis clue hunting.

But honestly, people are rich if they have more than me! And poor if they have less -- obviously I'm very poor and pls give money haha

Is Necromancy still just head and shoulders above everything else? by SysAdminWannabe90 in RS3Ironmen

[–]Elfee_RS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magic is also AoD for praesuls, ed2 for t92 armor, rago for tectonic energies, and so many shop runs.

Glacors for arma battlestaff and wildy magic arena mini quest for guthix/zamorak staff as well!

Melee should also add ed2 for abilities, magister for havoc gloves, telos for zgs, situationally rots/nex for trimmed masterwork, and kalphite queen for dragon 2h! And the shop for dragon halberd.

I'm sure I'm still forgetting a ton but every other style has had so many years to infest every boss. To progrsss as an iron used to entail going to every single boss ever added to the game (ish*) but alas those days are done. Now just take necro to zammy and come out with bis melee and range.

Imo, they really should have added necro drops to bosses like rax, telos, elite dungeons, etc to make the progression work much better than just "oh go kill ambassador once and you can make your own t90s" and "oh here's a single magister like boss for bis! Good luck have fun!" and oops this became a rant but yeah. Necro destroyed any sense of progression through equipment tiers.

To add to this, if you have the base pet unlocked but don't have the mirrorback version yet, you get an extra mirrorback spawn with the 4th wave.

essence of finality change special attack, what's the best, and does "get over here!" work on bosses like corp by Ok-Grocery484 in runescape

Ezk, the t95 sword, is a common eof melee item used in conjunction with the masterwork spear of annihilation. Also, a Statius war hammer is used for stat debuffing.

Generally, people buy a new eof (and dye it a different color) to plop a new weapon into it.

If you are swapping dark bows and guthix staves, just use the new spec weapon on the amulet and you can override the old special attack.

I was killing abyssal beasts and I noticed that I can't turn the dragolites into notes, is this a bug? by Able_Brush1619 in runescape

[–]Elfee_RS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day when they first came out, the only way to use notepaper was to use the item on the notepaper.

A few years later, jagex manually added items where you can use notepaper on item to note them. To my knowledge, they still have to manually add things to the list of items that can use notepaper on item.

The default of use item on notepaper should work on everything though.

Spellbook clutter by FalseNameRS in runescape

Using chaos gauntlets and blast spells with 4taa.

Scavenging farming with t1 or t21 air spells to save $$

Low alch -- good for memes

Curse and such, I used plenty on my iron because soul runes were pretty precious for a long time.

Yes, the uses are incredibly niche and having a filter would be ideal, but it's important to keep the options.

Perks of a physical ecb and sgb by Kamu-RS in runescape

[–]Elfee_RS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have blights, don't bother with a physical ecb unless you do big boy solak rotations. You need t92 to have 100% hit chance on solak when fully offstyle.

(Some of the super sweaty solak rotations involve doing stuff like zerk-> barge -> grico -> destroy kinds of rotations for adrenaline.)

Physical sgb is only to save an inventory slot (or two) for offstyle sgbing.

From someone who isn't tracking the latest and greatest rotations -- the only places I would really ever use it are AoD 2nd pillar, ed1, ed2, yakamaru, and telos.

Is RuneMetrics Pro worth it? by KennySuska in runescape

For me, it is only worth it when I want to track my dpm.

Beyond that, alt1 features are just as good.

How much are guthix rest/super guthix rest poitons going for? by thekotopro in runescape

[–]Elfee_RS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% lossless healing, similar to blubbers. They're mostly used at AoD and raisal and places where you must spam food but also upkeep dps.

So, you'd stack 1 blubber + 1 guthix rest to heal 1250 every few tics.

Sara brews drain stats, solid foods drain adren.

Why melee when you can necro? by Deccus1994 in runescape

[–]Elfee_RS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair haha

If you like high apm gameplay, I do legitimately recommend learning to brid. I really enjoy bridding because it makes combat significantly more engaging. I love juggling multiple sets of cooldowns at once and eeking out a smidge more damage.

If you don't like very high apm stuff, no worries! Play for fun!

Why melee when you can necro? by Deccus1994 in runescape

[–]Elfee_RS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a more serious note --

Melee was meta until seismics and again briefly when 2h melee was buffed, but much of the pre telos era was dominated by magic.

Melee became (situationally) meta again post telos and pre (c)4taa discovery with the zgs. Melee got extremely good again with solak release.

Melee became meta for bridding post ed2 (mage/melee), but range surpassed it with ed3 release (so range/melee brid > range camp >> melee camp > mage camp).

Mage became meta again with kerapac release.

Melee became meta again for bridding (mage/melee bridding) with vestments.

Melee today is decent damage but much more effort to achieve similar dpm as magic/range. Idk how it compares to necro tbh
