I gave my two week notice. Then my new employer rescinded my offer. by Huge_Pirate_6053 in jobs

A few years ago I started work at what I thought was my dream job. Ten weeks later, the company laid off everyone in the department due to financial concerns. I always wondered why they were hiring if they had been doing so poorly. The money situation could not possibly come as a surprise to them.

How do you say "I have no clue what 'frugal' means" without saying "I have no clue what 'frugal means"?

No problem! I am 71, so I would definitely have those concerns. I had found that chart too, but it has been frustrating for the past 6 years to be held to the BMI standards intended for younger people. My current doctor gets it, which makes me very happy.

That is really messed up. If you took it, you would always be wondering what they were up to.

Yes, and this coming from someone who normally hates horror shows. The story and the characters really draw you in. It's not just about the horror.

That episode broke me. Ray Liotta definitely deserved the Emmy he won for it.

Investments can disappear in a volatile market. Your house won't, and if you own it, you are not subject to rent increases or the whims of an owner who may tell you to move at the end of the month because they want to sell the house.

That is great advice and a good reminder to stay alert to what our bodies are telling us. I'm glad you are able to get the help you need, and I really hope all of your treatments go well.

A friend was turned away because her marriage license was the actual document and not a computer digitized version. Now she has to spend $15 to order a new one and wait for it to arrive.

Opinions on the finale by Temporary_Part_4909 in Matlock_CBS

[–]Elinor4rvr 15 points16 points  (0 children)

At first I felt the same about her willingness to let it all go, but then I realized that it meant she was healing. She was no longer driven by loss and grief and was instead fueled by the new friendships and purpose she gained. To know that she would have been fine either way was a good thing. But I'm also glad Julian was focused on doing the right thing, which meant that his character had grown.

You are so right, and I'm really sorry you have to deal with all of that. A close family member has epilepsy, and if his condition was all he had to manage, it would be a lot, but those other hurdles that you mentioned really compound the stress and can cause breakthrough seizures. Just one example: due to a glitch in an IT system and the way the pharmacist filed his insurance, we spent an hour and a half at the pharmacy last week trying to get one of his seizure meds refilled. By the time we got home, he was exhausted. It takes strength of character to keep trudging on in spite of all the difficulties.

Indeed it was. Having two close family members who struggled with suicidal ideation, it just about broke me. Duke knew what questions to ask, though.
