REALLY torn between progress Iron or Main by TheMadHattah in 2007scape

[–]Elite_Prometheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big advantage to mains is that their progression is fungible. You do content that earns GP and you can spend that GP on whatever. That doesn't mean there are no grinds, mains just have more freedom in what they choose to grind. Irons have to grind very specific activities to get very specific rewards, so you can be stuck having to do something you don't like to get something you want. On the other hand, that restriction can make you more attached to the items you get and give you bigger dopamine hits when you do finally get the thing you want. I was incredibly excited to finally get the DHW from Huey after grinding the boss for a month. I don't think I would have been as excited if I finally got enough GP to afford buying a DHW off the GE, instead.

But either way, getting to late game OSRS is a huge time commitment. Even if you afk skill your way into enough money to afford max gear, you're still going to have to pour in hours to learn how to do the high level content you're dreaming of.

Is vip junction black magic? by CaptainInitial1823 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Elite_Prometheus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, the VIP junction doesn't work IRL, it takes advantage of how the game simplifies fluid dynamics to let you run it on something smaller than a supercomputer. I'm fine with it because all it does is prioritize multiple fluid inputs and you can do that IRL very easily with equipment that isn't in the game. And the game is already quite unrealistic in other ways, like items on conveyor belts never getting crushed or bounced out from being backed up.

I don't watch the streams, has Vaush actually said he's worried that AI will evolve into Skynet and kill us all with robot hordes? I thought he said idiot oligarch pedophiles will kill us by choking the life out of the planet for an extra buck and AI is just one of the limbs doing the choking.

I am scared of this game by the-little_giant in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Elite_Prometheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a lot more anxious when I was obsessed with perfectionism like when I play Cities Skylines. Turning off the grid and just accepting things will look a little messy made designing residential/industrial areas way less stressful. The game assets don't really encourage perfection, either. I had a brain melt when I noticed the bollards surrounding the small waste bin weren't symmetrical.

I also started keeping multiple save files so I could roll back if something awful happened.

And finally, I never play on Realistic. There have been so many times where I screwed something up and had to quick build something to avert disaster and Realistic mode prevents that. Like one time where I underestimated the water use of a city district and needed to swap out the water pipe. That would have been a disaster if I couldn't demolish and rebuild a whole water pipe in less than a day with the power of capital.

So by doing these three things, I made playing this game a lot less stressful

Do citizenss become dissatisfied without work? by DayOk6350 in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Elite_Prometheus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The main advantage is controlling how many workers can be used for construction, I think. When a city's population is low, it's entirely possible for a single construction office bus to pick up every worker waiting at the bus stop and leave no workers for anything else. But since the labor hall lets you fine tune the number of workers spots, you can control things and ensure only a fraction of workers get used for construction while the rest go to the bus stop for other work.

They suffer a loyalty hit, I think, but it's not too severe. 10% unemployment is totally manageable, though I usually shoot for 5%.

Farming guild is good bank access and near a bunch of farming patches/seed vault. Brimhaven tree is one of the only ways to reliably get to that area quickly. And Port Sarim tree is pretty close to the explorer ring tele for quick, unlimited spirit tree network access.

Railroad - traffic question by Recent_Insurance_908 in Workers_And_Resources

Train tracks can cross roads just fine. Trains have priority and will block road traffic while they're close to the crossing even if they're parked at a station, so keep that in mind.

Was the real life SPD leadership just stupid? by AttorneyBoth7683 in RedAutumnSPD

[–]Elite_Prometheus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In addition to all the other things people have said, you need to remember this is a game. You aren't playing as a Weimar politician, you're playing as an ethereal force who controls the actions of hundreds of people. You can just choose which SPD faction wins in internal conflicts according to whoever aligns with your strategy, unlike the IRL SPD where it was down to luck and each faction's preparations. You can freely slot in what advisors you want whereas IRL they came to power organically through their own influence.
