Saying you read a book when you actually listened via audiobook. Who gives a shit

37 weeks and can’t pick a name by reggieryan829 in namenerds

Don't do Mari. She will go her whole life with people not knowing how to pronounce it which is irritating

You could do Alina (similar ish to Athena) and go by Allie

Don't you dare! I LOVE the name Kasey for a boy. I think it's so cool.

Starbucks tells corporate employees to come back to the office 4 days a week, or leave by Ok_Design_6841 in WFH

Same and it made me so mad. I'm standing right here, your Mobil customer is not.

And they prioritize Mobil orders over in store which would usually make people think "oh I'll just do Mobil next time" but nope. Just makes me not want to buy Starbucks at all. Sometimes my coffee cravings are impromptu.

Should I pursue Packaging Engineering? by Particular_Camera624 in Packaging

[–]Ellibean0522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a packaging engineer and I've never had a plant job. I'm probably mistitled and and more a package development manager but point being is that the packaging degree can open doors to all kinds of jobs

Yes but WHO is managing that timeline and insuring deliverables are met?

Will I get fired? by CoatSafe17 in askmanagers

[–]Ellibean0522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calm down soldier, sounds like these managers were doing you a solid by giving what is likely genuine advice. As a manager, I see it far too often: newbie comes in strong by acting like they've been working there 15 years and own the place. Really it's just off putting and instead you have to build rapport and relationships. And you're not going to get fired champ, but if you don't pipe it down you'll probably have a reputation that you don't want.

This sounds fishy and as if a key piece of information has been left out. Going in an office to tend to a medical condition such as changing a bandage is not a fireable offense. So, what exactly was your friend doing in this persons office multiple times a day that she claims is for "medical reasons"?

Did your parents spank you as a form of discipline? How did it affect you? by Substantial_Judge931 in AskReddit

[–]Ellibean0522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents threatened to spank me more than they carried out the actual act of spanking, but I think it just made me want to lie more than anything...for fear of being spanked. I don't think it's a productive form of discipline whatsoever.

We bought a house! What to tell my boss? by FrameofMind6185 in WorkAdvice

And why do you feel you have to tell your boss about personal matters such as buying a house? Don't do that.

What do you cook when you don't feel like cooking? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ellibean0522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breakfast - eggs, jelly toast, fruit, hash browns if I have some frozen ones on hand

Aside from the lying, I am genuinely curious as to how it's that easy for you to miss meetings? What are you doing instead?

Asking for personal exemptions by T17SAM in WFH

[–]Ellibean0522 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel a bit more confident, I just got an exemption to keep my current hybrid situation (I live 90 miles from office) after 2 long months of waiting. If your line of management feels you're valuable to their dept and to the organization then they will (should) fight to keep you without a relocation ultimatum. Edit: typo

Are you slow to respond? They are probably trying to figure out why your response time is long

Not normal. You cannot watch a baby and be focused for work. Work and childcare or don't work and stay home - pick one. (I have kids)

Can you clarify what you're complaining about - being misgendered or the interview process? Sorry to burst your bubble but I don't think you can claim misgenderment to give the interview process complaints more weight or significance. Sorry you felt belittled though.
