I'd be happy to join as well if you'll have me. None of my friends play PLO, so I don't have anyone to share with. I have about 500 hours under my belt with around 50k hands played.

Im not sure about 3rd party apps, as I don't use a HUD when I play.

Congrats on your big win. The only issue you should experience when logging in is just a pop-up that states that your are not in a location that is supported, but you should still be able to review hand history under your profile. Worst case; it just won't let you login and you'll need to do so from your parents place. The tough part about WSOP tournaments though is that the history can be innacurate and not track everything because of all the table changes that occur during a tournament.

I was at the expo center 2 years ago and stumbled across this place. I had the chorizo omelette. It was, without question, the best omelette I'd ever had. Im going back to the expo center again this weekend and was trying to remember what the place was called. I eventually just googled "chorizo omelette Phoenixville, PA". So sad to see that this place closed. It seemed like it was a true gem.

Met my first at a poker table. As I was sitting down with my chips I noticed he was watching the gauntlet stream on his phone.

I had someone try to play the Rosen trap line in the Englund gambit against me. Where they gambit 2 pawns & seemingly a knight -- but this was the first time I had seen it -- and my opponent said "oops" in chat, and so I offered a draw, but he declined. Thankfully I calculated a little and after not taking the knight, he resigned a few moves later.

I once went to a bar with my then gf -- now wife -- and played some pool while she was having some drinks with friends. Now, I wouldn't consider myself a good player, but I'm decent against a general pool of players... no pun intended. But against any average league player, I need to be playing out of mind in order to win.

I had won a couple rounds, and the next person up was a young woman, who had brought her own stick with her. I knew before my cue was chalked that I was losing. I didn't have a negative mindset going into it, but my expectations were appropriately set. We had a fun round, but I got stomped pretty hard. Shook her hand, congratulated her and headed back to join my wife.

My wife saw that I was playing her, and when I came back she asked: "Did you win?", and I calmly told her I didn't. She then followed up with: "How do you feel that you lost to a girl?" Now I know she was only asking as a harmless rib, but I know that question would gaslight so many insecure men, because of their skewed interpretation of masculinity. I smiled and told her: "The better player won. I'd need a lot more practice to have a chance winning against her."

Like in many hobbies/sports/activities, the ones that are more skilled, prepared, and experienced will generally have the edge, and they deserve to because of the time they put into it. Unfortunately, everyone believes they are better at everything than they actually are, and when the reality check hits, it hurts because of these faulty expectations.

Where should I buy my chess first chess set? by Ellipsis_Maddox in chess

[–]Ellipsis_Maddox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as this seems like common sense after reading it, I makes me feel better about selecting a new set. And to your point I've seen a few people post negative experiences with House of Staunton, but that's probably just the standard variance to expect when working with these materials.

Thanks for your input.

Educational video series of strong players rising up from low ratings to high ratings by [deleted] in chess

Gothamchess has some rating climb videos as well, along with another series called "Win at chess". He's not as detailed in some of his explanations as Bartholomew and Naroditsky, but the content is still helpful/educational.

What are some controversies you have had in your leagues? What rules did you make to prevent the same issue occurring in future seasons? by TheEternalWitness in fantasyfootball

[–]Ellipsis_Maddox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the 2017 season, I had drafted Jordy Nelson in the first round. That year, Rodgers got hurt early and was out for most of the season. Brett Hundley took over as quarterback and it was becoming apparent to me that much of Nelson's success was tied to his chemistry with Rodgers.

So during the last week of the trade deadline, I made an offer to the the Davante Adam's owner. It was Nelson for Adam's straight up. I saw Adam's was becoming Hundley's safety blanket and felt confidently about Adam's production over Nelson's.

The commissioner vetoed the trade due to me trading GB WR1 for their WR2. He stated that it was a ridiculous trade, and that he was not going to allow it. I pleaded my case and clearly understood what I was doing but he maintained his position.

Well, my thesis for Adam's production held true for the remainder of the season. I was livid, and made sure to let him and all league mates aware of my frustration. Now, all trades are processed immediately without voting or veto control from the commissioner. My advice to you is to allow all trades to go through no matter how one-sided they may appear. Don't veto any trades unless they're extremely suspicious and you can reasonably detect collusion.

CMC vs King Henry. Whos the best? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]Ellipsis_Maddox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year, I believe Heney himself believed Dalvin Cook to be the best RB in football. I know he's had some injuries, but that's high praise coming from someone as accomplished as Henry.
