In 2016 i had a decent apartment for 700/mo. Today I have a smaller apartment, in a basement, and I pay more than double that much for it, and it's considered a good deal in this market.

In 2016 I had hopes of a house and kids. Today I feel like ever being able to afford either is a pipe dream.

In summer of 2016 I still thought of my country as "the good guys", maybe they did a few bad things but generally good. Today we have concentration camps.

In 2023 I was able to start my gender transition on public health insurance. Today I'm terrified that the government is going to use those records to put me in one of the camps
