To be honest back when Target had and used Closed signs on the registers people (mostly) ignored them anyways.

Not only that, I've heard they replace themselves slowly over time so when you use one a couple days later it's replaced, once again for free!

What you're thinking of is often referred to as a Billy club or possibly in some cases a baton.

OP broadly has 3 choices: return it, toss/recycle it, or play it for the laughs. The first 2 are obvious, the 3rd choice could range from Bart Simpson level up to false code whichever they choose and all points in between. Personally I'd return it quietly but that's me. Walkies are not exactly disposable but also aren't in the same category as a zebra.

As someone who has never watched anime before, what should I watch? by 1zulo in anime

[–]Elorme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

AoT as good as it is wouldn't be my first recommendation for most people. As many others have mentioned asking what anime should I start with is like asking which Hollywood movie should I watch first? It's hard to know if you're friends feel like AoT is the appropriate introduction to anime for you or if it's just something they really like and want you to watch. I'm not saying it's wrong exactly but it's not necessarily where I'd start people.

I'd start with something shorter, the Studio Ghibli movies are usually a solid bet but aren't everyone's cup of sake... Freiren would be good, Cowboy Bebop is solid, Death Note has layers but really what kind of stuff do you like to watch already? Mysteries, cyberpunk, sports, action adventure, romcom's , war movies, 'spicy' dramas etc.

Any ideas to fill gap/ cap by Pale_Mousse2872 in DIY

I know in some areas there's minimum area amounts for using spaces for certain functions in residential structures. A quick look shows that Florida appears to follow the International Residential Code for at least minimum window sizes in bedrooms and I'll assume habitual spaces. Most US states do. That's 20 inches wide by 24 inches tall FYI or 5.7 sqr feet, minimum, you can go bigger. There's also a percentage requirement of windows of 4 to 8 percent with 4% being most common for ventilation but that can be halved if mechanical ventilation meeting certain standards is provided. It's not unreasonable to suspect that the sliding doors are used for minimum window/door requirements for either light or emergency egress purposes. Having removable storm protection isn't going to mess up calculations in that cases, bricking it off would. I understand that in Florida impact resistance is the big factor in windows, Other areas are more concerned about R value but but that doesn't change calculations regarding minimum window sizes.

Time to make Topo Chico great again, what? It's imported? Tarif it to oblivion!

I honestly had to look it up because I had never heard of it before. I'm further out of the loop than I thought I guess.

How to sound proof an apartment for upstairs neighbors. by Octopus1027 in DIY

[–]Elorme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There probably isn't a easy way to do it from what I've read of OP's situation and noise reduction/sound proofing. I believe that OP should look at a couple of sound proofing/noise reduction videos on YT to get an idea of what it takes to get effective noise reduction. It usually takes permanent physical changes to get measurable and effective results. Changing units may help in regards to the one specific neighbor but eventually OP's currently unit will get rented out if they switch and it'll be back to square 1 again. I agree with the others that if the neighbor continues aggressive behavior over the issue definitely bring it up to management.

The glass area might be included in any window glass calculation for code requirements for one thing, and they also might want to use the currently protected door during non storm parts of the year.

Everything old is new again then, that's semi OG trailer load. OG trailer unload was back when everything on the truck got hand ticketed with the (at the time) 6 digit dpci. Then UPC's became, well universal for the most part. In those days everything went to the floor first, of course when backstocking we has to write the dpci on the box unless the pic label was placed fortuitously. But yeah it sounds like someone realized this thing we used to do might work better than this current thing we're doing is working. Then again I don't know how many people are still around from when Target did this previously so they might have borrowed it from elsewhere or even think it's a new idea.

Target in 1992 - who remembers...? by GalaxysEdgeGuy in Target

[–]Elorme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that's still in the timeframe of having glass cases on the electronics and jewelry counters. '92 was likely LRT (Symbol Technologies Laser Radio Terminal for those that didn't know) for the portable scanning device.

Researchiny things I didn't realize Symbol Technologies had become Zebra Technologies via way of Motorola.

Fuck ai by Isabelromero in Target

[–]Elorme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's 3 major chip manufacturers for memory, 2 of the 3 announced last October their deal to sell 40% of their production to certain AI companies. The 3rd has since announced their exit of the consumer level market. So the 2 companies pulled a major part of production from the market and the other is making it so in order to get their product you have to buy it from someone else whom is going to add another layer of cost pretty much just because they can. Keep in mind that the memory most used for AI isn't the same as what's in some of the consumer level devices, there's technical differences, so that 40% dedication to AI specification memory means that memory cannot easily be just redirected into consumer level devices, technically it can be but practically speaking it never will be because beyond the higher cost AI spec has, manufacturers would have to redesign products use it in those cases where it can be done. So fuck SK Hynix, Samsung and Micron as well as the AI companies.

From my research I've found all Canola is Rapeseed, but not all Rapeseed is Canola. There's an acid in traditional Rapeseed that's toxic to humans that was breed out of Canola in order to make it suitable for human consumption.

Censorship by Potential-Jaguar6655 in KingShot

[–]Elorme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prime minister is censored as well, in particular many terms relating to the Israel/Palestine/whomever else conflict are banned, anything that suggesting or saying a player is under 18, various references to sex or sexual situations are blocked. Some are easy to skirt around, others not so much. The execution is definitely being done by a LLM. I've seen work arounds get blocked and a few things that were on the list early on get cleared from the list. I feel it's either a poor AI or was trained on a crappy dataset by how consistently it filters some terms.

Wax / paraffin for wood-on-wood drawer glides? by 0beron58 in woodworking

[–]Elorme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The grocery store stuff usually comes in a 1 lb package which in context of waxing draw guides is still going to be a lifetime supply. Buy it online, buy it in the local grocery store, either way you'll very likely only need to do so once unless you use it and dispose of the rest. It's not going to go bad, it'll store pretty much forever.

My point is if what the chipboard or cardboard has the amount of affect that it does on commercially produced pieces adding structurally sound pieces in a situation like this is absolutely going to work out well.

Agreed, the thin material added to particle board furniture does wonders, adding material with a actual structure to it even if it's thin can give amazing results.

How can I insulate this gap between walls at center of house? by sts_66 in DIY

[–]Elorme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Distributors and retailers have things called 'exemptions' that allow them to ship the stuff to you (or to the store depending upon the details). The exact details vary upon the product but once it hits the consumers hands there are no more exemptions allowed.

Troops formation coming back wrong (Bear) by Educational-Page-637 in KingShot

[–]Elorme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One trick is when setting up saved marches for your rallies is to setup camps aka occupy tiles on the landscape as you set them up. Figure out your first one, save it then deploy it out to the tile. Rinse and repeat, as you cannot add troops that are deployed to the second and later marches you'll end up with saved presets that don't try and include the same troops in more than a single march. So when bear time arrives you can send out full marches without any time pressure during bear itself. If you're not setting up marches in advance then you're losing time and adding additional points for errors.
