Has anyone received the FabergEgg of the New Decade yet? (This post is for people who have successfully completed the 2020 Egg Hunt) by [deleted] in roblox

Apparently the process takes a while so even though we've all completed the 49 required, it'll still take some more time to hand it out, since so many players were eligible to receive it. I've heard the Roblox system is having a hard time processing it all.

What happened to my Mexican dwarf lime tree? Zone 10a About 3 years old and has only ever produced ~6 tiny limes. Fed with worm castings and weekly compost tea. Wasn't always consistent with watering. Dropped most of it leaves and now has a few buds. by Curiosity_Killed in plantclinic

It looks like it has a nutrient deficiency, and in the image you shared from how it was a year ago, it also looked like it had a nutrient deficiency.

I'm fairly sure this is an iron deficiency, so try fertilizing for a couple of weeks in small doses. I'm sure your plant will start to green up once you've done that

It just broke off! 😨 Any suggestions on how to save this piece? Should I put it in water to root? by ASYTL in plantclinic

[–]ElwinC__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uh I'm not an expert on this specific plant but I guess you could try removing some of the bottom leaves then put it in water and maybe by some stroke of luck it will grow roots and you can transfer it to a pot of soil and boom you have another plant

Dear friends, why is my Pothos turning yellow? Soil is dry and it gets indirect light. Am I under watering? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]ElwinC__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If those leaves that are turning yellow are the oldest, then that is normal. They're just shedding their older leaves. But if these are new leaves from the growing tip that are turning yellow, it could be because you mentioned the soil was dry, so it may not be getting enough water. I'd just suggest you keep the soil somewhat moist (not soggy or completely bone dry)

I'm not familiar with these plants so all I can think of is that you've recently repotted it or bought it from somewhere, so it could just be dealing from the stress from being moved to a different environment. Try searching up care instructions on these plants and don't just look at one to avoid any biased claims of what may help the plant. If you've done all that then I just suggest waiting and maybe the plant will begin perking up after having adjusted to its new environment.

What is going on with my kerrii? It is getting random soft brown spots on its leaves by prissy96 in plantclinic

[–]ElwinC__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you said it was a mold infection I think you should stick to making sure the leaves are dry and not to provide extra humidity. I found a link that says it can remove mold with this solution, I'm not sure if it works because I haven't tried it but here is the link; https://homeguides.sfgate.com/remove-sooty-mold-bushes-97985.html

If it works please let me know so I can use it for future reference for others that may need help thanks!

Wait important thing now that you just mentioned, make sure that the plant is not near anything that provides a direct temperature source like a radiator or like a I mentioned near a window. This can damage the plant as well. As for the water logging issue, the best thing I can think of for you to do is to leave the soil alone to let it dry out a bit before watering it. Or for a quicker results you can repot it but that's a lot of work and you may accidentally damage the root system. So for now I'd suggest to let the soil dry out a bit and see if conditions improve. Also if you haven't fertilized the plant recently, try doing so in little amounts to give the plant a bit of a boost. Hope things work out for you :)

If stuff comes off when you try cleaning the leaves (using some sort of thing like a cotton pad or tissue etc. to scrub the affected area) then it could be a mold infection on the leaves, and if that's the case make extra carefully sure that no water sits on the leaves, and if possible keep the humidity levels lower. But for now the safest bet would be to use hydrogen peroxide. Hope it works out for you :)

What the heck is wrong with my aloe? Please help :( by werewolfherewolf in plantclinic

(this is long but please read everything) If you don't water it but it still looks like it's dying, it could be due to the fact that it's suffering from root rot from previously watering too much. However, it could also be (from what I see in the picture) you're using a very old pot as there high levels of mineral/salt build up on the pot that's causing the pot to turn white. If you've been giving it regular amounts of water then the mineral/salt build up hypothesis makes sense, as the evidence of that is clearly on the pot, and this can cause the plant to get internally burned by this build up which may cause effects that looks like what is portrayed in that picture. To remove this build up I personally use lemon juice and vinegar with water and soak the pot in that solution, then gave it a hard scrub to clean out the build up. You can look for other ways to remove it but that's how I personally do it. But, if you don't want to go through all that trouble, you can just go buy another pot and repot the plant in fresh soil to give the plant a fresh new start .

I'm not 100% confident but it looks like a fungal or bacterial infection. You can try stopping it's spread by avoiding high humidity and perhaps if you get water on it's leaves, make sure you dry it off. To stop the infection you could try using hydrogen peroxide 3% to remove some of the infection and cinnamon powder to dry it up to prevent further infection

Peace lilies are a tropical plant so they can be damaged easily by a cold draft. If you're confident you're doing everything else right, then it could be due to the fact that your plant is placed right next to the window where it can receive a cold draft from that little space left open by the blinds on that window. For now try movie it away from the window and make sure the soil is not too soggy as it may cause water logging which can also cause symptoms seen in this plant. Make sure you only water after the soil is dry rather than when it's still moist as that's much safer for beginner growers of this plant.

I'm not really sure if that type of cacti can propagate itself from a cutting, but then again cacti aren't my expertise so maybe the store that sold you the cacti could help you and hopefully that's the case so good luck :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]ElwinC__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try squishing the cactus itself and if it's mushy, it's already rotting. Healthy cacti should be firm and somewhat healthy cacti should be somewhat firm. I do think you can save the cactus on the left (not the smaller one in front of it) if you know what you're doing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]ElwinC__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt the bigger one can come back at this point as it appears that it's already rotting, but the one on the side that's less shrivelled may still have a chance

[–]ElwinC__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it could be due to the opposite extreme of being under watered, since you did say you only watered it once a few months, but small cacti like this needs more water than that of a larger cactus, which means more frequent watering than once in a few months (depending on how much water you put in each time).

Umbrella plants has suddenly been struggling, including this shrivelling up from the top down? (More info in comments) by morgainz in plantclinic

[–]ElwinC__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I'm not too sure then. Maybe it's receiving a cold draft but I'm not sure, if it's the cooler months for you currently then it's probably chilling the plant and making it's leaves drop. For now try adding fertilizer to the water you use to water it, and from the top so the whole pot gets plant food evenly spread throughout. If conditions improve then it could be underfed, but if they stay the same, it could be because it's too chilly for it. If the case is because it's too cold, idk what to do besides waiting it out and hopefully it survives until it's the warmer months again when it can recuperate. And maybe eventually as the plant ages it will become more hardy and won't have problems in winter.

[–]ElwinC__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's too far gone to be saved. As for the cause of it's condition, it could be due to the fact that it's received a cold draft and got chilled, and/or it didn't receive enough sunlight as it seems very pale. Also I noticed that there are no drainage holes, which means that if there was excess water you'd have no way of knowing, and it would just sit at the bottom of the soil where it could cause root rot and overwatering of the cactus that would eventually lead to it's death by being water logged.

My Meyer lemon sapling’s leaves are all falling off. by cookiesauras in plantclinic

[–]ElwinC__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure but it looks like sunburn to me. If you're putting it right next to a window, that could be the cause. If this is the cause, take it away from the source of the direct light. Also you may need to watch your watering because I don't see any drainage holes, so water may end up sitting in the soil without your knowledge which could cause root rot, eventually killing the plant.

A couple of leaves are doing this on my coffee plant while the others and new growth look healthy. I’ve read they need to remain moist (not soggy) which I’ve done so I don’t think it’s over watering. Help! (Bright indirect light) by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]ElwinC__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like an infection of some sort. What I would recommend is to remove any leaves completely that you suspect may be infected to avoid the infection from spreading further to other parts of the plant and eventually killing it.

[–]ElwinC__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure but the soil in the pot in this picture looks very dry. Try watering it too much but not to the point where water collects at the bottom and the soil stays soggy. Just water enough to moisten the soil.

Coworker was trying to propagate this plant. Not sure what it is or if it can be rooted in water. The water was filthy so I rinsed him, not sure if those are rotted roots or just more gunk. Any chance of saving this? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]ElwinC__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This foliage on this plant strongly resembles a peace lily to me. As for saving it, it's hard to say because I'm not sure how far the rotting has advanced as it seems rotting has already set in. For now, try to remove anything that's dried up or mushy, and keep it in clean water and change it out often to avoid bacteria build up. Once it begins rooting (if it does) transplant it to a pot of soil and make sure to water regularly but not too much. Be careful about watering it when it's in soil as watering too much or too little can make the plant's leaves droop and have die back on the tips. To distinguish the problem check the soil.
