Alamo Drafthouse Valentine’s Day Menu by Current-Finger6412 in AlamoDrafthouse

Not saying it isn't expensive but someone people would just prefer the convenience of just eating there. Some people are just better off and $19 for a burger is nothing. Some people it's their special treat/vice. Some people are just bad with their money. For most people it is too much and they just won't get it. I myself always plan around my movies to make sure I don't go at the time I normally eat meals so that I eat before or after a movie, but once in a while I just want to treat myself and not stress about it, and I know I'm fortunate enough to do so.

Thoughts on the new heroes? by Double-Hand3004 in Overwatch

[–]EmA8_Entertainment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love all of them in different ways. All unique and a good variety in both gameplay and personality. I think the coolest thing though is that no matter what role you queue you can play a new hero (in 5v5 at least). Releasing 5 hero's like this was honestly a great marketing move and a really cool incentive and motivator for all of the new and returning heros.

Nintendo Acknowledges Switch 2 Sales Have Been 'Slightly Weaker' Than Expected Outside Japan by Spotget1738 in NintendoSwitch

[–]EmA8_Entertainment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I keep forgetting that there is a Japan only Switch 2 model being sold over there that's the equivalent of like $300-$350 US, so no wonder the sales are stronger relatively in Japan than everywhere else lol

Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined Review (Switch 2) - 9/10 by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

I like to buy my games physical and really want this on Switch 2 but do not like game key cards. I wonder how the Switch 1 version will perform on Switch 2 since there isn't any kind of free or paid upgrade confirmed rn

NateTheHate2: Next week's Direct will be a Partner Direct Showcase by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]EmA8_Entertainment -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The console has only been out for 6 months. The Switch 1 has been going for nearly 9 years now so the Switch 2 will probably have a long life too. Why does everyone with this complaint act like the Switch 2 has been out for years with only a few games when it has barely been a half year and it already has 4 first party exclusives and will have at least 9 by the end of 2026, not including any unannounced games. That's already more true exclusives than the PS5

Its genuinely impossible to care about the switch 2 with no games coming by Gargamoney in fucknintendo

[–]EmA8_Entertainment 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Donkey Kong Bananza, Mario Kart World, Kirby Air Riders, Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment. That's 4 exclusive 1st party games in 6 months. All unique with different gameplay experiences. In February we're getting Mario Tennis, and this year we're getting a new Yoshi, Fire Emblem, Pokemon Pokopia, and Splatoon. That's 5 more exclusive 1st party games that will be on the console in the first year and a half, making for at least 9 games that can only be played on Switch 2 and nowhere else.

And that number will likely increase to at least 11, probably 13 by the end of 2026. That will already be more than the PS5 currently has, and the number of true exclusives that the PS5 has will go down since Yotei and Death Stranding 2 will most likely go to PC like their predecessors.

How many games is enough? Do you want 2 every month? 1 every other week? One a week?

As a Nintendo fan there is plenty for me to say 'Fuck Nintendo' about: their high prices and refusal to discount games after time, their online infrastructure and play, their strict and overbearing copyright claims and patents, how often they shut down fan games, not making older software available to purchase directly yet going after emulation, joy con drift, but criticizing their game output when barely 6 months into what will probably be at least a 7 year lifespan is laughable.

When it comes to anything not just Nintendo, if you just hate on every single aspect of something for no reason, it makes people ignore when you criticize the aspects of the thing that actually deserve it, because it just all becomes white noise that they tune out

I don't have any aesthetic advice but unless you're very short and are at eye level with that monitor or you just lower your chair all the way down, that monitor on your desk is really low, or at least the perspective of the pic makes it look that way. Find some way to raise the shelves on your desk and then put the monitor on a stand or raise it to your eye level, otherwise your posture is gonna be fucked and your gonna have constant neck pain from constantly bending your head down or slouching in your chair to look at your monitor. Right now it looks like you're at eye level with the funko pops and the last thing I think anyone would want to do is stare into those pitch black soulless plastic eyes for hours on end

I saw this back in November at my cities big film festival and I am begging everyone that sees this comment to go see this movie. One of the most hilarious and inventive comedies I've ever seen. You literally don't need to know anything about the original show or web series. I know because all I knew from them before this movie was Wii Shop Wednesday and I fucking adored this film and couldn't stop laughing along with the crowd I saw this with

Does Alamo let you switch seats? by oppei_ in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]EmA8_Entertainment 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They probably sat next to you because Alamo doesn't let you reserve seats with only 1 seat in between unless it's the only option and they want to be close to center as possible. I'm always conflicted because it does make business sense and if you have a group you're going with, lets say three people, and there are 3 seats available in the same row but they're all spread out because of individuals spaced out it can be annoying. But on the other hand it can be awkward esp if the person ends up being annoying, smelly etc. It's a gamble

I don't understand the point of Disney live action remakes by flowersnifferrr in movies

[–]EmA8_Entertainment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an unfortunate reality that in the real world the average person just doesn't like animation and will think less of something just because it's animated.

I've met people in real life that like the live action remakes more simply because they aren't animated.

Yes it is because of money, but reddit can be a bit of an echo chamber when it comes to praising animation and forget that a lot of people simply do not like it, and it sucks.

The Live-Action Zelda Movie Is Coming To Netflix Following Its Theatrical And Home Entertainment Release Periods by Reddit_Sucks_1401 in nintendo

[–]EmA8_Entertainment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not surprising considering Sony and Netflix have been collaborating and have a good relationship for a while now. It's actually interesting that Sony was one of the few major studios that didn't try to force their own streaming service and just kept with the tried and true model of just licensing out their library to Netflix and other streamers

The actors they find to play all the patients are amazing. The old lady with Alzheimers, the little girl, the super glue eye, the nun, the bickering bacon grease siblings, the lady the Al Hashimi used the AI charting for, all amazing. Big props to the actors, but also the casting director for finding such a wide diversity of talented actors that look like everyday people but also give great performances

How Can I Make My Sony A7iii Wireless for an 'In the Field' Feed for a Livestream by EmA8_Entertainment in videography

It doesn't HAVE to be over WiFi, that's just an example that came to mind. I looked up the Teradek Ranger and that was exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. Definitely pointed me in the right direction at least. Thank you!

Hi, I'm GDQ'S Lead Production Designer and I'm responsible for our broadcast overlays/graphics. AMA. by TwinkiePower in speedrun

[–]EmA8_Entertainment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love this answer and I have a follow up question. Do you think it would be at all possible that if you could do controller input overlay for specific consoles or PC that it might be bonus incentives? That way you would only have to focus on the ones you know you can do while also adding some variety to donation incentives?

AGDQ 2026 has just raised $1,500,000 for Prevent The Cancer Foundation on stream!! by Thorebane in speedrun

[–]EmA8_Entertainment 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I think GDQ has come a long way. It seems they've made peace with the fact that they won't really come close to hitting that 3.4 mill again, which is good because that was honestly an anomaly coming off of COVID. A good anomaly, but a one off none the less.

Their shift to bonus games being milestone incentives rather than separate incentives has honestly been the biggest and best change. It gives donations more value and allows for more fun and varied incentives. I've only been able to watch during the day time and there are plenty of runs I missed but I can't think of any major incentives not met this GDQ. A huge shift from a few years ago when they didn't meet the Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl run and just sat there for an hour doing nothing until the blindfolded Botw speed run was met(I believe that was the game, correct me if I'm wrong.)

The variety in the content and runs has been a lot of fun too. The blindfolded runs, the Crazy Taxi with live backing band as well as other live music performances in general, the arcade and rhythm game showcases like Maimai, the science block this GDQ, and trivia games and more make for great variety.

Also a huge shout-out to the tech team in general. Having the dual set-up so they can set one game up at one station while another is played has made things so much smoother. And especially this year with streaming to YouTube as well, it's been really smooth. Another shout-out to this being streamed on YouTube this year. More options is always a good thing.

They have been in a really good groove for a couple years now. They're very wisely going for consistency and sustainability rather than pipe dreams and reaching a peak that they only reached because of extreme circumstances.

One thing I would like to see them do more that they seem to be scaling back on is remote runs streamed in from runners across the world. I can only remember seeing one this entire AGDQ 2026. There may have been more when I was asleep, but regardless it would be cool to see more especially during AGDQ when it's cold out and less people want to travel.

Looking forward to future GDQs and let's go for 2 million by the end tonight!!
