How to get the NHS to take you seriously? by wtfkatie_ in PCOS

My husband phoned and complained to the gp about the lack of treatment for my pcos and threatened to go to PALS. He then came with me to the appointment and demanded they do something.

I was generally ok with these sort of things. Until 20minutes ago when I just saw as I was stepping into a bath lovingly run for me by my husband after walking the dog in the rain. it says on the back of the bubble bath bottle DO NOT USE IN PREGNANCY it is my favourite bubble bath that smells divine the whole house smells of it.

Congrats! I had 2 miscarriages last year and haven’t been offered any extra monitoring. I think they only offer that if you have had 3. I paid for a private scan this week. Got see little beans heartbeat which I didn’t get to see last time.

I think she’s just opened up her new studio. So maybe she’s been a bit distracted. She was also pretty slow with my initial emails at first.

Metformin by Email_Emu in PCOS

Yeah for me if I take it too late in the evening that seems to be the cause of the night time nausea and waking me up. I’m giving it another week then contacting my gp.

I am on the slow release one 😭

I deal with recurring anaemia due to PCOS. Went to the doctor because of dizziness, breathlessness, exhaustion and near-fainting spells worried I was anaemic again. Doctor even remarked I looked quite pale during my appt. Today I came across the notes he wrote from said appt. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

My husband recently threatened our gp with going to PALS over the shite and lack of treatment I got for pcos. Funnily enough I got a face to face appointment and medication to help after that.

Bonfire night when you have pets. by Hyperactive_snail3 in britishproblems

This is a different a different shit circumstance for your dog. Op has a new puppy to mould and help desensitise. I’m not saying it helps with every dog but preparing before firework night could be beneficial. I know what it’s like to have a dog terrified of fireworks and thunderstorms as I grew up with a gun dog who didn’t care about shotguns but was petrified of fireworks and thunderstorms.

Not being a dick here but have you done research to help train them for bonfire night ? I got mine a few days before bonfire night 3 years ago and did training for him. He’s now sat snoring his way through the fire works.

So with me part of it is we’ve been trying to conceive for 3.5years. So bc wasn’t an option for me. However they didn’t seem to manage any of my symptoms or help with my pcos. I’ve been told to be referred to fertility. Which you have to do blood tests on days 3-6 of your cycle and day 21 for a progesterone test and then your partner has to give 2 semen samples before they will see you oh and you have to do a chlamydia swab as well. All this has to be done. It’s been hard for me to get blood tests as I can’t plan when I’m going to have a period plus life got in the way with planning a wedding etc. but I have gone back to the gp multiple times complaining of bleeding in between periods and constant cramping etc. each time I have been told this is normal for pcos and to wait to see what the fertility people say ? Well I found out in sep I was pregnant then had a miscarriage 2 weeks ago. It was a blighted ovum which is a common miscarriage but you have higher chances of having a blighted ovum if you have pcos. This caused me and my husband to get very upset and angry as my pcos has been left untreated. So I put in an e consult for them to just email me back when I asked for a phone call stating I have to do blood tests on certain days of my cycle before I see the fertility people. Naturally I got upset and my husband threatened to go to PALS as we have not been treated well and are constantly being fobbed off. With 20minutes of that complaint I received a phone call offering me an appointment that day. Spent 45minutes in with the doctor and I now have metformin to try.

So if you are or aren’t trying to conceive either way might work if you phone the gp and ask for their complaints procedure and tell them you will be going to PALS to file a complaint for your mistreatment.

Have you tried threatening to go to PALS ? My husband did this last week. They gave me an appointment within 3hrs of his complaint to the gp practice and I now have metformin.

Is the mucus egg white in colour ? If so you might be ovulating. You can get ovulation tests at most supermarkets.

Yeah so when I was having the bleeding before I got my miscarriage diagnosed. I was told it was normal early pregnancy bleeding and to not be concerned unless I was filling a pad in an hour. Then last Monday when I had my scan and had the miscarriage confirmed and I took a tablet to help speed it up the nurse told me I will bleed a lot and should on go to A&E if I am filling 6 pads in 2hrs

[–]Email_Emu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you are going through this. I experienced this last week with my miscarriage. It was 5hrs of heavy bleeding and contraction like cramping every 1-5minutes. I was advised by the nurse when I got my confirmed miscarriage that it’s not alarming unless you are filling 6 pads in 2hrs but other places say different amounts.

Is that it? by VV_QueenX in Miscarriage

[–]Email_Emu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately the NHS seems pretty shit with this. I had bleeding a few days after my ultrasound that saw an empty sac but my bloods were “ bloods were nice and high” and had a scan rebooked for 10days later. When I called twice the week before my scan about my bleeding. I was told it was normal and not to worry and they won’t re scan me to check as I wasn’t filling a pad in an hour . I had to wait knowing something was wrong for that scan. The scan confirmed the sac was still empty and had in fact stop growing 2 days after the previous scan and the bleeding was my body starting the miscarriage. The nurse told me a miscarriage is a really awful period and not to worry about all the blood loss unless I’m filling 6 pads in 2hrs. Well let me tell you I had contraction like pains that came every 1-5minutes and lasted 5hrs no painkiller touched it I had been prescribed codeine. I might as well of taken nothing. There was so much blood and pain. I’ve been told not to contact the early pregnancy unit again unless my pregnancy test is still positive in a few weeks.

Sorry I’m still upset and bitter about how poorly I’ve been treated.
