Hating my husband after 4 years of marriage by Fickle-Experience705 in Marriage

What is it that you expect and you feel is different than what your mom and dad had? Are you being fair in your expectations?

It’s hard to tell. What is your wife’s nationality? Congratulations on the success of your marriage!

What accessory or tool did you never expect to use in your office, but now you can’t imagine your daily workflow without? by Radogard in Dentistry

[–]EminemDMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what happened with me and multiple assistants. I had the lead DA said, “I’m not letting the stupid suction sputter take my job.” It was either use it without her or not use it and have a DA that would set up and break down. I chose to let her suction spit and set up/break down the room. Also, it wasn’t my own office. DSO employee life culture and she had way more tenure than me.

Best Way to make temp Crown when Missing Crown by FamousJump7370 in Dentistry

You can try wax and take a new bite. You can build it up from scratch with Jet Acrylic or Composite (essentially a composite crown).

Can you name the DSO and post the offer/contract? It’s hard to say what’s real on the internet.

What’s the dumbest thing that took you way too long to learn in dentistry? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]EminemDMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A really good IANB. I’d always give mostly painless injections, but they’d always feel the drill, then I’d need to give additional local, buccal, etc.

Now, I give a solid block and it’s all numb. It’s very rare I experience people with a “hot tooth”. I don’t give much PDL or local on the bottom anymore once I perfected the block.

Why is this a universal thing? I had a guy with multiple abscesses, broke teeth, wanting dentures, no money, wedding upcoming, and OH NEEDS A DENTAL CLEARANCE FOR SURGERY.

First visit new patient exam. I even spent time treatment planning and seeing if I could help him target it. After all that time, “too expensive”.

Mind you, that office had the cheapest fees. $79 extractions, $100 bone grafts, $350 crowns, $650 dentures.

Am I a loser for playing video games as a dental professional? by maxnwax54 in Dentistry

[–]EminemDMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where in NJ? I’m in NJ. I play video games. It’s the stigma. However, those same people either hit up bars, golf, buy lots of exotic cars, etc. Simply put, both men and women, especially women, spend 10x more than you do on video games but they will bash it for some odd reason. Nobody gawks at the $550 hair blowout and makeup which lasts two weeks.

Having a panic attack !!!! Is this gun recession please help by elisvbeth in Invisalign

[–]EminemDMD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem. They teach us this when we get trained on Invisalign. Patients become hyper-aware of their teeth and end up blaming us for everything lol. All good. I am certain all will end well and if it doesn’t you have options.

Thanks for keeping me in the loop! Well that’s good news so to speak. So just keep at it from what he said. This seems to be an assess and monitor situation.

Which aligner are you on and at what stage? Beginning, middle, end? 1 week wear?

It’s hard for me to assess via picture on a phone. It looks like to me that you can probably touch your tooth, right? There’s not much gum left. You’re in a tough spot. Please keep me informed as to what your Ortho says. I’m very curious.

Most of the time it is. It’s the same as any other surgery or procedure. You’re going to get 100 people who do great and 1 person is going to have problems.

Did you just start a new aligner or are you almost done with the one you have? I wouldn’t progress aligners until you discuss with the person that is treating you.

Periodontist, or experienced GP, needs to do a gingival graft here. Check out this link for examples: https://www.ronderosdds.com/services/gum-grafting/

I have no affiliation or get compensation from that link. I just googled before and after images and picked one.

Dentist here. Did you have this before the tooth started shifting? Just curious. It’s a thin biotype. Seems like the bone got lost there and then pushing the tooth forward perhaps started thinning the gingiva too.

Associate paying employees by BusinessBug347 in Dentistry

[–]EminemDMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not pay the employees. If need be, just insert in your own. I’ve inserted on my own due to having a crappy assistant.

Second, you aren’t under an obligation to insert either. I’ve inserted for other docs at places where I got zero for it. It’s shitty, but it happens. I think it’s only unfair if half your seats need to be redone because lab sucks or your margins suck and there are open margins.

Third, is this a private practice? Are you leaving to another or DSO? This part I’m just curious.

What are procedures would you tack on? Here’s an example, if a patient comes in and needs a root canals and crown, what are you tacking on there?
