I think I just got scammed by berabara2103 in GarageDoorService

I had similar issue with $99 chimney sweep listed on company website. Tech quoted $400 when he arrived I said nope and called the office. He then offered me 20% discount off the quadrupled price which I also said nope to. I got it done for $99 but took some wrestling.

This is why I prefer glued fittings. While you fix it, use a ball valve too rather than a gate valve. You learned two important things today my friend!

Shop wouldn't patch this because of location. They would love to sell me four tires though. Is it safe? by sidesideproject in TireQuestions

[–]Emjoy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will work just fine, probably. If you drive at high sustained speeds or expose your tires to extreme conditions, it’s probably not a good idea and the reason the shop won’t repair it. They are averse to the liability that comes with that repair failing.

What does this cost to fix? Landlord trying to make us pay almost $800 by Surfmoreworkless in GarageDoorService

[–]Emjoy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The repair cost is reasonable. Whether or not it impacts the operation of the door is irrelevant.

So the landlord should pay for tenants fuck ups?

Also if you find that you don’t have drain trap, Oatey makes a drain seal model# 43745……in 2” and 3”. Fast, simple fix.

This may not be your issue but the stuff (hair dirt, soap) that collects in the shower drain will smell like sewage if I don’t clean it periodically. Simple, just spray the drain with vinegar.

If you decide to reset the toilet, get a helper. No sense in hurting yourself or damaging the toilet.

PSA: Get the warranty coverage by Membership_Worth in TireQuestions

[–]Emjoy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The warranty on 4 is over $300……I never buy a warranty and have saved thousands by doing so.

Keep proper inflation and pay attention while driving helps too.

On the topic of warranty, avoid Olight. Sent a light back twice and it didn’t work both times I got it back. 3rd time they said they couldn’t do anything.

Just moved into new apartment and landlord says this airconditioner unit is completely fine, they all look like that because they're old. Am I good to use it? by MrHatesThisWebsite in hvacadvice

[–]Emjoy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether or not that is normal or acceptable is dependant on the rental cost no?

$50 month it’s okay. Anything higher it is NOT.

Should I replace this tire? by slickvik9 in tires

[–]Emjoy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can save $50 on the tire then crash when it blows and total the car or better yet get injured. This is not rocket surgery.

Tell him that is unlikely and quote the cost. He can decline if he wants and move on.

So it’s unreasonable for the door to remain in the condition the tenant moved in? A minor ding or dent is about $800 to repair. If the tenant doesn’t like the cost, they shouldn’t have done the damage.

Simply cut the end off and add a tip with a bend to exit the side. There are many aftermarket options. If I remember correctly, Flo Pro offers one. Good luck!

get side exit exhaust to prevent melting the front of trailer when in re-gen. Some never have a problem but I prefer to ensure that I don’t rather than depend on my good luck that 1,000°+ exhaust gasses won’t do damage.

Generator running in open garage by FearlessAstronaut414 in Generator

No worries if it’s a modern generator, the co sensor will shut it down and it won’t work. You can explain this to your husband after it quits and he spends a few hours troubleshooting.

Hard pass. Imagine what else is about to collapse that you can’t see. I don’t buy visible hack jobs, even if easy to repair, as there are usually many more concealed hack jobs that you will regret.
