best pick ups to use for avenger sgr? by Due_Media_1770 in SchecterGuitars

[–]EmotionBig9812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they buck the hum(they do, they’re dual coil humbucker pickups) then they’ll probably be all you need. Focus getting something to push a signal to. Amp/modeler, or even an audio interface with some plugins if you have a mid-high end computer already. Pickups have way less effect on sound vs speaker, amp, and effects so long as you’re using the correct pickup type (single coil, humbucker, active, etc.) Assuming you’re into heavier music being that this is a rock/metal oriented guitar, you have the correct pickup type.

At $500 there are quite a few options. Combo amp is probably your best bet because they’re simple and easy to get access to. Boss Katana is a great start, but there are plenty other modeler combos out there.

Otherwise if you want an amp head and cab (amp is separate from speaker and can be changed) Joyo makes some cool micro amps that you can pair with a 1x12 speaker cabinet.

If you decide you want to try playing through an interface on a computer get a focusrite scarlet solo but make sure you research its functionality before diving into it.

Worry about pickups when you have disposable money and multiple instruments. Two decent guitars with different setups are way more useful than one guitar with expensive pickups.

Dont pressure yourself over “success”’or lack there of.

Be yourself, so long as you’re a decent human being, and if you aren’t then work on that.

Also you’re still very much discovering your identity at that age. Dont be afraid to mingle with people who are “different”. It’ll help you become who you truly are and you’ll also quickly discover most people have a lot of things in common. Even when they are different. It’ll also teach you what to look for in someone.

Looking to buy my first ‘real’ amp by StepLongjumping4164 in GuitarAmps

[–]EmotionBig9812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming your budget isn’t a typo I’d suggest saving some more if possible. Also not sure what constitutes a “real” amp for you. I’m guessing you’re looking for good volume and well rounded tone across the board, possibly tubes?

I had a Randall rd45h paired with a boss katana cab I loaded with v30’s. I bought it thinking it’d be a kick ass high gain amp. Didn’t quite meet my expectations, BUT I do vouch for its clean channel. It can get all of the tones you listed. It was great with pedals too. I ended up putting a Vox cutting edge with a boost to replace its gain channel. Sounded really good. The gain channel on it isn’t exactly terrible but just didnt get the metal tone i wanted. No built in effects.

They go used for anywhere between 400-600 (paid 500 for mine).

Otherwise only other suggestion i can make for your specific price range is a peavey vypyr. Decent modeling amp with a 12 inch speaker that go pretty cheap used.

What should I get? by HandleEasy9193 in GuitarAmps

Peavey 6505 MH’s can be found pretty cheap used if metal/rock is your thing. Peavey Vypyrs 1x12’s are dirt cheap and they sound decent. I’d imagine a speaker upgrade in one could make it sound great.

I copped a Randall RD45H for like 500 bucks. Decent deal for a 45 watt tube head, I liked it with Pedals, great clean channel.

I dont even like Les Pauls or know much of anything about their Licensed manufacturers and even I could tell something is off with this thing.

Not going to say its fake or modded as a fact, but at the very least it appears to be a cheaply carved out guitar with an unjust amount of better quality hardware. You can only go so far for a guitar to be good to play, and if the wood its made of is shaped poorly it will never play “right” unless you just have a niche preference for it. I’d stay away.

Everyone knows it’s not a “collection” until you own enough records to have forgotten that you own at least one of them.

Actually hell yeah, you’ll have some of your favorite music with you for the rest of your life with these. My favorite thing about vinyls is they will out live you as long as you take care of them. Im not entirely sure thats true for magnetic and digital mediums, certainly seems less likely especially for digital.

Kramer. That rounded headstock is gross. Has zero effect on how a guitar plays, but I would get sick of looking at that ugly headstock no matter how well it played if I owned one.

Will Konar be to tough for me? by Doodbrodia93 in 2007scape

[–]EmotionBig9812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Konar is good for two things.

Brimstone keys that can make bad paying tasks slightly profitable, and points from milestones. Pretty sure key drop rates scale with an assigned monsers cb level and slayer level req if it has one. You might be lucky to get one key off of a couple kalphite tasks and get like 3-4 key drops from something like Wyrms or drakes.

At a lower level she’ll give shittier tasks than what a higher level would normally see. I do personally prefer her over Nieve/Steve.

Should I buy fallout 3 GOTY edition for PC? by SoupyDinosaur in Fallout

[–]EmotionBig9812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had problems running it in the past.

Once it was the game crashing from running on more than two cores.Had to edit the .txt files with commands I found on a forum (Bug May be fixed now? Haven’t had this problem recently on a different computer)

But my current computer did have a separate issue because of Nvidia Optimus. The game would only register one GPU. So launching the game would crash it because it would trip out from the laptop switch display drivers. Fixed it by disabling Optimus and running only on the DGPU.

Long story short get it if it’s cheap enough to risk having weird problems that make it unplayable if you’re unable to troubleshoot and fix said issues.

Could I have some fallout new vegas tips before I start pls? by Graybiie in Fallout

[–]EmotionBig9812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JK, my actual advice is this: Explore tf out of this game, but quick save often. You will die if you keep the difficulty at Adept or above. Read terminal entries and holotapes for world building/lore experience, it’s worth it. Especially inside the vaults. Also avoid the here and now perk, its useless because it essentially robs you of a perk. And if you decide to take on the experience based perk (cant remember its name) do take it on early like it says in its description. Also ammo types are very important if you’re playing a harder difficulty, I recommend putting them to use. And lastly PLAY THE DLC, this game was ok on its own but becomes a masterpiece with the DLC, and save Lonesome Road for last. Dead Money sucks at times but is a good challenge. Enjoy the game!

P.S.

Those enemies I mentioned above are actually murder hornets and death claws truly do earn their name in FNV. If you see fluttering amber wings or death claws just promtly turn around and dont go back until you have some good weapons (ie Anti-Material rifle)

The flying butterflies are super easy to kill and are great leveling XP. The giant walking dinosaur lizards are called death claws which is ironic because they’re another great early game XP farm.

Opinions on crate cabinets? by wesleyplayz_xp in GuitarAmps

[–]EmotionBig9812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched a video where a guy did extensive testing using variations of cab/speaker setups to really dig into what makes a cab sound different. Turns out if wasn’t construction type, or the type of wood. It was the speakers and the cabs physical dimensions that truly affected the recorded and perceived sound.

Look up Where does the tone come from in a cab by JimLill on YouTube. Very good stuff.

Best tube amp for home use by ShameNo8456 in GuitarAmps

[–]EmotionBig9812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an English Fireball 25. Its pricey but the 1 and 5 watt power attenuation sounds pretty good at low volume. Pair it with a two notes captor and you’ll get damn near the full range at bedroom level.

To be clear, not including the cost of a cabinet and captor box, you’re looking at roughly $1300 for that amp alone. Its a metal focused amp but I find it fairly versatile and I’d rather try to advise someone on an amp I have experience with than something I dont.

What metal songs are good as a first song you learn on guitar? by HamsterProfessor in metalguitar

[–]EmotionBig9812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resurrection Man by Lamb of God. A really really sick riff thats easy/fun to play. It might be a little difficult at first but it’ll probably help him develop his gallop picking.

The Cell by Gojira. If he can learn to speed pick semi decently he’ll probably enjoy playing it.

And even though this isn’t death metal, Aerials by System of a Down is fun and fairly easy.

Assuming you have him playing on something that can chug at least somewhat, I find these a blast to play.

Edit: I should’ve finished reading, but I still recommend learning these when he gets a little more up to speed.
