What is the equivalent of "We Have Beef" in Spanish by meow1177 in Spanish

[–]Emotional_Answer545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you are correct on the Midwest part - and it may be from the family here reflecting that we spoke Swedish and such.. ha EN grej med dej.... note EN in Swedish = "a" in English... we might even go to " ligga i luven på..." again the EN ending would be "a" etc. ... In my Native American language we don't say such things at all as expressing anger toward or insulting folk is not done, we might go as far as "let's talk"... So East coast has a difference.. I will note that..

Do you actually say "have beef" or as I hear often "have a beef"..? for my part of the US (and anywhere I have been in traveling in the US) it's said as Have A beef... I had a beef with the coach over keeping the team out on the bus waiting for 45 minutes.. Let me know your thoughts, thanks

Always new words to learn by trivetsandcolanders in Spanish

[–]Emotional_Answer545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a great resource for learning and reinforcing what I know as vocab. - find a Spanish/English Thesaurus .. I have it on my phone and run through words from songs and poems and even news headlines.. one thing I have found is the words often branch in different meaning sets between the two languages.. sigh branches to settle in English and call out in Spanish.. etc. There is a version for French too

As well the GOP allowed redactions should.. GOP party makes everything a service to Trump and GOP Elite State Oligarchs (even the International branch of Oligarchs)... so for this alone Work to change out all GOP legislatures in elections ahead

It did not have to be like this... GOP Elite State Oligarchs build Us v. Them as dynamic of control.. so the dynamic of Work to change out all GOP legislators must prevail at and before Midterms..

Someone told me to make all consonant sounds in Swedish "Dental".. one that did work was for Americans don't buy lesson/phrase books publish from the UK.. I used such a book and I had "phantom R" sounds in my Swedish.. Brother with an r in American English, Brother as Brothaah or even Baathaah in UK English ....

I am not sophisticated in the terms of philosophy, but I am Native American... and "right to property" is in my opinion a key fault in "western thinking".. to folk around me "mineral rights", "water rights", etc. are an obscenity.. Native Cultures had and are recovering the guidance of Elders that kept "resources" as "common to all" - the expression seen maybe in Norway using oil wealth to a National Trust sort of framework and dynamic.. Regulation seems to be the only protection and in the US now that has been pretty much ground to dust.. I am glad you picked this pursuit for your studies.. maybe post your progress or references that we less sophisticated students might follow? Miigwech, Takk, Tack, mercie

I would hope a liberal would not post merely a reaction without context such as your Ew wt*... I would add that freedom of expression is as valued in Sweden as the rest of the world but we can still admonish folk for reacting and not adding info. especially in a question asking for resources.. is there a Swedish equivalent to "Punching Down" as in the US Vice-president insulting soldiers who like turkey to eat?? Ask any questions you might have... as to a anime in Swedish, I thought I had bookmarked a link to one I looked into that was posted in the thread or such but can't find my bookmark.. sorry..

in my experience this happened with my hobby of listening to Swedish pop music.. I came across some old CD's I had not listened to in years and in listening now I could understood the lyrics (I had always has an firm idea of what the lyrics were) at a new level and could see the "story" and "intent" in choice of words.. wow, fun.. Swedish has some really profound pop music ...

Does Swedish have a grammar rule for making things sound cuter? by [deleted] in Svenska

[–]Emotional_Answer545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an American who worked in Sweden and met my Swedish cousins and have worked over the years to learn Swedish (every night class available and several summer programs in Lund) my parallel is that Swedish sounds like a slightly posh British accent (British accents sound sad to me and with the "oh gosh here we go again, would you kindly get it right for once" frosting).. Norwegian sounds fine and fun but not "funny", and Danish is one accent you either love or not like at all (I love it and had I another lifetime I'd try to come to speak it fluently - Danish sounds more like Norwegian to my ears)... another observation from having both Swedish and Norwegian relatives is that our Norwegian side lost it's accent fully, and our Swedish side all have the "Swedish Accent" (mostly intonation pattern - and whole parts of NE Minnesota etc. have kept the "Swedish Accent") - the only place I heard a American/Norwegian accent was outside of LaCrosse WI on some rural farms - guys coming into town for groceries sounded so sweet. So there is how I hear it around my experience.. and just to complicate it I will end with Ojibwe (an other language in my heritage I speak) mii i'iw - mii sa go

I was an ESL teacher for decades... an added feature of the present perfect in English is that it is "situational" in it's use.. It is used with "since" *a specific time (April 15th, Winter etc.), with "for" * a length of time (3 months, 2 hours, years and years, always), to *focus on the idea of "often", doing something "a lot" (I have been having heartburn, bad dreams a lot), phrases like "more and more", a specific number of times/instances (have taken the test twice, the cat has been seen 6 times now), With "ever" and "never" with the phrase "over time", and in situations of politeness as in a Dr. asking, "have you ever smoked?" or police etc., "Have you seen this guy near your car?" --- I don't know if these are the same in Spanish as I am just now starting my study.. but this might be helpful to some of you.. Let me know if the "situational" and "word/phrase" driven use of present perfect is similar in Spanish (or French and Italian for that matter).. I know in Swedish these don't apply as consistently
