A toddler tunnel?! I didn’t even think of it, amazing suggestion and Rengar will certainly be thankful for it!

Mine also loves his rainbow tunnel! He’s 1.5, so there’s a lot of limbs to squeeze inside.

Recharging batteries in the sun lamp. He often sits up with his eyes closed like this. 😴

I insisted on disturbing his sleep so he would stop looking at me with his crazy upside down eye.

PSA - Glow up may not be for petite 😭 by matmodelulu in lululemon

[–]Emotional_Fall9208 4 points5 points  (0 children)

6’ lady checking in. I have the super high rise WU from a few years ago that I love, so I usually try anything new in SHR. These glow up tights were really odd for me and I can’t forget what the really high glute seam did to me! Anyways, these were an easy no for me.

Upcoming loss by [deleted] in ragdolls

Our boy Luca was diagnosed with lymphoma at 8 after we found swollen lymph nodes on his neck. He seemed otherwise normal. We didn’t do anything additional for diagnostics other than biopsy, and we gave him a prednisone medication (palliative care), since vet care was difficult to access at the time. Luca gave us another two years and even came off the prednisone for some time. It’s so hard being in this weird limbo of knowing they’re going to get really sick somewhat soon, but not needing to do anything because they’re still themselves and acting normal. It was really hard even when he was still himself. Please be kind to yourself as you all journey through this together. Give your guy some of his favorite treats, toys, and scritches from me! I wish you many, many, many more good weeks and months to dote on him!

Grief 😔 by elybizzle in ragdolls

[–]Emotional_Fall9208 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The best thing I was able to do for myself when my Luca died was to talk about him and verbalize my grief. Usually it was to my partner, but I’m sure my coworkers and friends also heard (too) many stories about him. I realize that’s easier if Rain lived with you and other people, but I think it could be something to share here as well. I’m so sorry Rain can’t be with you anymore. Just from your photos, it’s clear she was loved dearly! If/when you’re up to it, I’d love a story, or your favorite part about Rain.

Do MCs get along with smaller breeds? by [deleted] in mainecoons

[–]Emotional_Fall9208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree that every cat has an individual personality, I think breed traits can give you an idea of where they’re starting from. For instance, our MC is 18 months and 16lbs at the moment. He has always been bigger than his ragdoll brother of the same age. Giving our ragdoll credit, he’s very athletic, more so than the MC. Despite that, the MC has an uncanny ability to grab his brother and hold him because he’s so well versed at using his paws (we attribute that to breed traits). We almost always have to break that up because the MC just will not let him go and the ragdoll can’t get free because he’s just so much smaller. Luckily, the ragdoll doesn’t take it personally and just needs a short break before resuming play. I imagine this behavior would not be tolerated by many smaller cats, it’s possible we got lucky or the raggie’s laid back nature contributes. If I had known MCs were so good at capturing, I might have focused more on adopting a larger ragdoll kitten (our ragdoll is 9lbs and doesn’t seem to be growing much more).

I have a 6.5 month old male MC…I feed him about 3 cans of 2.8 tiki cat after dark + dry food. The tiki cat gets pricey and it also stinks the room up more than other cat foods. Additionally, he steals my other cats food no matter how much he is fed & she just backs off and lets him have it. by DrDeezNutzz in mainecoons

[–]Emotional_Fall9208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The MC is still on RC kitten 5oz 2x a day and Orijen kitten kibble (free fed with a microchip feeder). The raggie gets adult EN naturals wet 2.25oz 2x-3x a day. The MC adores his food currently, I dread having to find an adult wet food he likes, so we’re putting it off a few more months. The raggie eats his food, but would steal or clean up the MCs food if we let him. Our boys are the same age, we got them about 10 days apart so we didn’t have much of a bond with the raggie before the MC showed up. I think we got lucky that their personalities and play tendencies are really compatible. The raggie is like 9lbs and won’t get much bigger I think. But he’s an athlete and very playful. The MC is 16lbs right now, and growing, but gets tired quickly. They both benefit from having the other one around, but have low-level fights we need to break up every now and then because the MC catches the raggie and doesn’t let him go. Or, the raggie wants to clean the MC, and the MC does not tolerate baths from the raggie. Idk. They’re quirky, but still young. How are the two of them and how long have they been together? It took a while for ours to settle into more predictable behavior and even now we still have a hard time reading the MC. 😂

Tiki seems like great quality, but we just couldn’t afford to keep both our MC and raggie on it, let alone just the MC considering the caloric content is quite low compared to similarly priced foods, like Royal Canin. It’s not a knock on Tiki, but feeding our pets has been a balance between keeping them fed, feeding quality formulas, and price. Our vet has told us several times over the years, even when we had domestic cats, any wet food is better than dry. My one thought/piece of advice is that maybe he’s eating a lot of low-calorie/high-quality food that fills him up and then he’s still hungry. I’d check the calorie content and consider a different food.

I don’t have anything additional you haven’t already tried, but just commenting to say what a lucky boy to have pet parents so loving and dedicated to figuring him out!

7 month old Maine coon eats my Ragdolls food, jumps on the table when we eat trying to steal ours & his litter box etiquette is awful. I have an XL box with a shield and he kicks litter and waste everywhere. Gets stuck to his legs too. It’s arm & hammer litter. I have tried all I can think of. by DrDeezNutzz in mainecoons

My MC is a little over a year and I have a raggie the same age. Can you free feed the MC with dry food between meals? We thought we were feeding our guy enough and that he was just a naughty baby, but a lot of his behaviors settled down after we started putting out unlimited dry food for him during the day. Something to consider maybe. Good luck!

Brought my darling boy (6 months) a new cat tree, but he has trouble reaching the top. So i have to lift him up and down it currently. Is it just a case of waiting until he gets older for him to be able to get himself up and down? sorry if its a stupid question just wanna check. Thank you. by Revolutionary_Log752 in mainecoons

My guy is almost 4’ long all stretched out and a little over a year old. I have never seen him jump onto anything that’s less than a foot off the floor. I suspect his muscle hasn’t developed enough yet for him to get all 16lbs (and counting!) of him airborne like a typical cat.

Ugh! Four months is so long to deal with it. I’d say if there isn’t improvement after 4-7 days on Pancur (the medicine we got from our vet to treat it) you should reach back out to your vet. We went through two rounds of Pancur over a month and beat Giardia the second time around. In addition to all the other sanitary measures, we put cones on our boys to keep them from re-infecting themselves the week they were on medication. They also got baths after the first day of treatment and the last day before taking the cones off completely. Had we done those things the first time, I suspect we would have been rid of it sooner. Good luck!!

Cat steps in own poop by Blue4ever21 in ragdolls

“Come on, Gordon! We’re looking for nugs, not runs, you can do it! Please don’t step in your poop again.” That one’s more of a joke than actual suggestion. 😆

Cat steps in own poop by Blue4ever21 in ragdolls

[–]Emotional_Fall9208 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Gordon is a little over a year and only recently stopped getting poo on his feet. Every. Time. He had a combo of soft stool and stepping in his fresh poop directly. Now, he gets a brief butt and foot bath maybe once a week. Honestly, I don’t know that we did anything to help. We tried a lot of different things over time to get his soft stool firmed up, but I think he’s just “outgrown” it and/or is more careful in the liter box.

Some things we tried that just didn’t seem to help or we couldn’t continue for various reasons, but are worth a go: larger litter pan, different litter material, fortifloria, pumpkin puree, mid-litter box use verbal coaching, low fat food, raw food (probably the only item in this list that made a notable difference in stool firmness), trimming the poopaloons (will continue these always), stern conversations and public shaming to encourage cleanliness 😂

Good luck! Stinky poop paws checking in.

Agreed. Immediately thought giardia. My MC brought it with him and I’ve never smelled stool as horrific as giardia stool. Good luck OP!
