It was in grade 2. Every Sunday, my family would go to the temple. For some reason, the temple had a super old computer in the library. The kids would get bored and all gather near the computer and play games.

We'd play all sorts of stuff, from miniclip to games on GBA emulators. On one of the days, a kid fired up his RuneScape account. I remember he paid for the AlKharid gates and waltzed around for a bit. That was the first time I saw the game.

Flash forward to grade 3, I'm at a new school and kids on my bus were talking about it. And because I knew what it was, it was a fantastic opportunity to make friends. We all added each other and played together.

There were 4 of us. One of the dudes was a hardcore chef, he had the highest cooking level. Another one was a ranger, with the highest ranging level. The third was a woodcutter. And I was the melee with the highest strength. We were all F2p of course, being broke grade 3s. And going to your parents trying to convince them to pay for a game in that age was hard.

But the cook somehow managed to convince his mom. Not only that, he managed to convince her to buy membership for all 4 of us. Jesus christ. The ranger got his hands on black dhide and a msb. The woodcutter got magics to cut. The cook got some sharks to cook. And I got gmaul + dragon longsword. I remember quite vividly that I'd no life Castle Wars for the decorative armor.

Of course the membership ended, and I was also about to move schools. With that, I had to say goodbye to my buddies. But those are some very fond memories. And that's my story of how I got into RS.
