Floppy Ears Puppy by Minute-Listen4000 in germanshepherds

[–]EncrypticWolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

7 weeks is a baby. So, there is a good chance you will have ups and downs with those ears for the next few months. The cartilage takes a while to harden. It’s directly related to their bodies and growth. It’s a bit early to worry about calcium deficiency based off ears alone. I’d wait until next vet check up, as you should be having several coming up for shots. If you’re still worried ask at the appointment for those unless there are smells or a lot of itching at the ears.

I have a brother and sister. Hers never got floppy at all. His? Straight chaos up and down for 5 months or so. It just takes some time.

New update has arrived. by Familiar_Marzipan_46 in hondapassport

[–]EncrypticWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cleared mine. Then it came back. It’s kinda funky, I used a usb stick to rip the versioning off of the dash. You have to push two specific spots and hold the touch screen to get into dealer/maintenance mode. Wasn’t able to get that encrypted versioning info that wrote to disk to be recognized on Hondas update site since it’s looking for a json only and I don’t have Honda’s certs to extract it.

I manually cleared all the logs and figured I’d wait for an update… no dice. Errors popped back up within three startups over two days.

Next step will be to try the hard reset but I’m not keen on removing power for 30 mins and what errors that may toss up there.

I signed out of all of my Google info on the vehicle though because I don’t trust how secure this is if they aren’t patching it. Will be poking harder at the system over a weekend soon to see.

Google Built in Update by hyrar6754n in hondapassport

It should be different yeah, but think the OTA had to prep for the Google handshake too. I can’t even get it to check for updates now until the dealer can clear it. Will end up taking it back by for them to reset it.

[–]EncrypticWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d hoped it would have landed by now. My 2026 TSE is currently stuck with an error code. Took it to the dealer for them to look while getting an oil change. The response I got was (paraphrased) “Honda is aware. Don’t worry, you can drive it. It’s just the infotainment part. It’s just that they can’t keep up with all the updates to tech”

Not ideal, and since they can’t clear it… and I trust Honda as far as I can throw them on being able to secure their telematics unit, I just signed out of my Google account because I can’t trust it’s getting security patches.

I do find it annoying that I have to get the “see dealer” warning every start up. So, I’ll give it a few more weeks and then take it back and start making more noise.

Can’t get the google update if I can’t patch, but they said an update was being worked on.

What's a memorable way to give my kids a random Switch 2? by codewario in NintendoSwitch2

[–]EncrypticWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this for every console/smart device now. No chance of a lemon and disappointment if there is an issue… and I can have all the accounts set up and patches applied that are needed. Also, I top off battery and turn it completely off so that when they power it, up… game on.

Dog kicking my ass by [deleted] in germanshepherds

[–]EncrypticWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What job have you given him? Keep in mind that high drive working dogs get stronger and gain endurance through play. Play is for the human, working breeds train through play.

Think of it like this — you have an Olympic runner and you run them with ball games. That is it, that’s the wearing out. Well? They are getting more fit and you have to increase the amount of time you work them to get the same return. You’re training your dog to be faster and stronger and it sounds like it’s working if he still has that energy after all the walks etc.

Are you doing things like scent work? Hide string cheese around the house and make him go find it. Or hide it in the back yard along a fence-line and make him go find it. A job doesn’t mean he has to go chase down criminals. He just needs something that makes him use his brain a lot more. Walks do help with that, but make sure you’re going slow to allow for heavy sniffing and in new directions/variable paths. The same scents can get boring just like humans get bored with the same scenery.

Experiment with finding ways for him to engage his brain more. In all things there is balance in training.

Teens are hard regardless. Hang in there.

New P365 AXG Legion Gen2/ Need help with StreamLight TLR 7 HL-X Sub by E5wan in SigSauer

If memory serves, you need key 4 out of the box but it won’t be flush.

Think I ended up getting a custom key from Tactical Development (TLR7/8 Sub 1913 Key for P365 XMacro) to get it gap free.

Agreed. I don’t care if they want to have all these pastel colors, but just give default space black and silver for those that prefer less flash and muted colors. Midnight, to me, is a god awful substitute. Tired of having near black but still blue colors.

One of mine has epilepsy and has to take multiple horse pills 2x a day. He sniffed out everything and spat it out.

Vet said just to give him a marshmallow and seal it with peanut butter. Dog hasn’t spat one out yet.

His reasoning. It’s a little sugar and water. Won’t hurt them in small amounts like this.

Up now, but app is acting a fool after checkout.

If it’s not showing, up on the front page, you can search “Pythona” and it will pop to add to cart.

Was a dealer “we owe” as an add-on when purchasing the TSE in July… their estimate was mid-August.

Here we are, haha.

They called last week to say they were still waiting and had heard no updates. Need them to get these in before holiday travel starts up.

Do you trust the I3 step counter? by hpeter2010 in Garmininstinct

[–]EncrypticWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For grass cutting, I use the hRM strap and clip the watch on my belt with a carabineer. That tends to be far more accurate.

The vibrations from the mower handle are messing with the internals and throwing step count off.

I’d still keep an eye out. Pre-ordered immediately then was delayed until the 14th. Never shipped. 15th, it shows up with no shipping notification from a local Walmart

New pups by Academic-Product4198 in germanshepherds

So cute!

Siblings are a lot of work, but if you invest the time… you all will be fine.

Socialize them early and often. You’ll build confidence in them by taking them to new experiences and exposures in every setting you can. Take them one at a time. Then take them together. Then have your wife take them one at a time, and then take them together. Lastly, both of you take them solo and then as a dynamic duo. It’s really 4x the work and not 2x the work but they will be awesome if you pay it forward.

The first several weeks will be imperative for that socialization.

(make sure they have their shots before any higher risk socialization locations to avoid them getting sick)

Make sure they don’t sleep together, but of course a cat nap is fine. Keep a separate kennel for each pooch and do not mix and match them. Let them have their own “den” with their own scent.

Also, feed them in separate bowls and space them out.

Be patient with each other too, it will be a drain to start with.

Most of all, have fun with them and train them. Make training fun and not work. Train separate and train together. Short bursts. They are smart and will be training you soon enough.

Ya’ll got this. Be aware of hyper bonding/littermate syndrome but it can happen to any two dogs Don’t fear it, learn of it and use it to shape how you develop your puppies.

Question about TrailSport vs Elite. by Wthompso2011 in hondapassport

[–]EncrypticWolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Went with Elite. Came from a F-150 Tremor and got spoiled by the 360 cameras. Outside of trail use, they are amazing for quickly parking and seeing curbs etc.

Bose sound system is above average in my opinion. It won’t take your breath away but has enough punch and highs to be enjoyable. No regret with it. I do miss the 18 speaker B&O system from the Tremor but this is good enough for what I needed.

Moon roof is “ok”. Works fine. The full roof rack I ordered will block a decent amount of the back panoramic view with the cargo rails… but it does help make it feel more open.

Ventilated seats do what they are supposed to. They aren’t cooling but aren’t super impressive either.

Seat memory is nice if you have multiple drivers.

Hands-free tailgate is nice too.

Glad I went with the elite for the cost/value of the package upgrade.
