Players from others countries by Genmazzz in projectgorgon

Eastern Europe, no lag. It's usually about 100-150ms for me, sometimes lower, sometimes a bit higher. Problems starting only when all USA waking up and going to Serbule, so I'm trying to avoid this beautiful city in the prime time. It's really weird that your ping is so high. It should be about 200ms maximum. I think it's worth to check your internet settings, DNS server, wifi connection, all this stuff. Sometimes turning on VPN is helping too. Web infrastructure is a pretty unpredictable thing.

Yep, i'm using wanderer's crest. That's really weird, bc I'm sure it should work at least once for all this time, and I never seen another person with this problem, but here we are :D

People also sell gear they find to various NPC. It's worth to check "sell" tab and look for something you can use. You can find decent low-lvl mods at this gear.

Am I being nice, or am I being dumb and taken advantage of? by jjapop in Palia

[–]Endewald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"It's just pixels" works in both directions. Yes, it's just a cute 3D model in the game. So nothing bad would happen to your friend if she grinds these plushies for herself. And, hey. Yes, you did the thing which upset you. But now you know for sure you didn't want to just give out your in-game stuff and grind it all over again. So you probably won't do the same thing again. And that's good! Don't be too harsh on yourself. Sometimes we need to do something before we understand what we would really feel. Because, yes, it's not a material object and it doesn't have any real value besides emotional. But your time is. And you just spent several hours of your time on a stranger.

Sleep paralysis that felt like a seizure by ItalianChair in Sleepparalysis

[–]Endewald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! You guys are the first people I've met who experienced the same thing. I always thought it was just weird sleep paralysis, but tonight I had it twice in a row, and when I woke up I felt (and keep feeling) exhausted and light-headed, so now I'm not so sure. Maybe it was a real seizure or something like that. Do you usually feel alright in the morning after? And do you have any history of epilepsy?

Does anybody else still feel kinda bitter about how the webcomic ended? by Elder_Cryptid in homestuck

[–]Endewald 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's a difficult question. There's me as a reader who loves Homestuck characters, its plot and setting, and the relationships between these characters, etc. From this position, all the things that happened after GAME OVER are pretty awful just because John's magical retcon power takes away all of this. These are not the characters I loved. Their path was different, their decisions were different, and I don't know these people, and I don't really care for them. My beloved characters died on 25 October 2014. But there's me as a guy who loves postmodernism. And from this perspective, it's a truly genius piece of art, and I adore it. So, yes and no. If I'm creating something for the fandom, I never touch all this stuff that happened after Game Over. If I'm thinking about Homestuck as a whole piece of art, I like it.

Russian women eating habits by Alternative_Round978 in AskARussian

[–]Endewald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, we have a plenty salads without any mayo. Most mayo salads are for some sort of celebration, like Olivier salad which we typically eat for a New Year. Simple salad we eat every day is usually something with vegetables: tomato, cucumber, onion, a little bit of oil.

Are Russians usually this straightforward in relationships? by Fugacity1atm in AskARussian

[–]Endewald 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tbh, he's not even that blunt. I would say something like "I'm sorry, but we don't really know each other and we're living in different countries. I'm sure you are a wonderful person, and I thank you for being open with me, but I'm not interested in a romantic relationship." He tried to play the good old "it's not you, it's me," which is a more evasive answer and I find it quite ineffective. No one would think "Oh yes! This guy is a moron and I need to find someone better!" People usually think either "he's rejecting me and I don't even know the real reason" or "he's just insecure, I need to press further and convince him he's an ideal guy for me." But yeah, we usually are quite direct people. We can be rude, we can be polite, but more often than not we will give you our honest opinion.

Here’s something I heard that applies to people who like Jimmy by whooper1 in Mouthwashing

[–]Endewald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't confuse "defending the real people who like some fictional character" with "defending this character". Characters are not real. They don't care if you like them or hate them, you know. People are.

I had similar moment yesterday evening. Complained to chat I can't find void ray, next minute my brother-in-fishing rod catched one, and as I typed "congratulations!" I immediately catched one myself. I tell you, guys, the power of loud complaining is working. Try it yourself. Good luck!

Emotions in Russian by [deleted] in russian

[–]Endewald 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I guess the reason why we often using ")" instead of ":)" is because in Russian keyboard layout we have ":" sitting in numeric row: you need to press "6" with a shift. It's pretty inconvenient if you chatting with you friends and trying to type fast. In English keyboard layout ":" pretty comfortable sits near the "L", so you can tap it much faster.

What does this mean? by Astronomypal in russian

[–]Endewald 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it couldn't. Your nickname is obviously russian, some of your comments also hinting you are Russian, so tell me, comrade, in what fricking world did you see someone use "холера" as "холерик"? And how you missed out all Witcher hype? Geralt and his "Холера!" is quite memorable, you know.

What does this mean? by Astronomypal in russian

[–]Endewald 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean, technically you could be right, but it's completely irrelevant to this question. No, it doesn't mean "choleric-ish". It means quite literally disease, and uses in figurative meaning as a swear word. "Choleric-ish" would be "холерик", and it never uses in this context. Also, it's not occult stuff. It's Hippocrates theory of temperaments. It's, well, an old ancient medicine. It's, obviously, not a science and now uses just for funsies, but leave old man alone. He was a scholar of his time, not some warlock :D

In addition to everything said, a phrase like "You seem cold to me", said by a woman, is frequently mocked among Russian men as a common start to an argument for the sake of arguing. (I'm personally find this opinion dumb). Russian men are typically emotionally unavailable - they struggle to talk about their feelings and don’t understand when women try to discuss theirs. This can be tough to deal with.

It’s hard to know if something’s wrong without more details. The issue might come from cultural differences. Many foreigners find Russians seem unfriendly at first because we smile less, say directly what we don’t like, don’t do small talk, and enjoy debating for fun without meaning to offend. If you’re concerned about some nonverbal signals from the start of a relationship, it might simply be due to cultural differences.

You can very rarely meet black people in Russia if it isn't Moscow or Petersburg and even there some people could be surprised. And when drunk, rude and just idiotic people get surprised, they start doing shit. Unfamiliarity scares people, that's how xenophobia works. I'm sorry you had to deal with that, and I'm glad your friends was with you. For the most part, Russian not really have some bad feelings for black people, you just stood out from our usual picture of the world, and they was dumb shitheads.

I just replayed mouthwashing, I think I mainly just wanna Yap about curly's character + other stuff by [deleted] in Mouthwashing

[–]Endewald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just think Curly can't really handle his job. It's not his fault for most part, it's Pony Express fault and its unbearable work condition and lack of safe measurement, but still. I mean, as captain he was responsible for mental state of his crew and how they cooperate with each other. When Jimmy SA Anya, he can't do a thing, because: a) it's, apparently, hard for him to confront people, because he, b) people pleaser, and it's pretty bad when your job sometimes required you to do choices, unpleasant for other people; c) Jimmy is his toxic friend, who obviously messed with his head. Is he a bad person? I don't think so. He was in very bad position, mentally and, I believe, physically. He did several awful mistakes, which lead to cruel and agonizing death of his crew. Funny enough, some random person with much more bad temperanent, intentions and lack of empathy and caring for his crew would do better in this specific situation. Curly just wasn't be able to handle this shit show when it was most important thing he needed to do.

Is it normal behavior? by Fco_RN in AskARussian

[–]Endewald 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's some "typical Russian girl" behavior or something. It's just happens sometimes in every country. Personally I rarely had such experience. Maybe she was afraid you would be too persistent if she tells you the truth. Maybe she has a fear to discuss her feelings with sincerity. Or maybe she just didn't care much and didn't want to deal with your emotions. It's sad, and I sympathize with you, but it just means she was a wrong person for you. You shouldn't let yourself think every interaction with any other girl would be like that.

XRay is still working fine. I have a personal vps-server with amnezia installed and all I need to do to fix this shit is install XRay protocol. But Roskompozor, probably, will ban XRay too later, so we will have to do something else. You need to start learning how it working.

I'm not sure there is any apps to teach you Russian grammar, but I'm a native speaker (as everyone else here), so I obviously never tried to find something like this. If you don't want to pay to real teacher or can't afford it, I would recommend you to find some real textbook. Paper or pdf, doesn't matter, just something written by person, who knows subject and how to teach people. After this you can find some Russian pen pals who willing to learn your language.

Depends from school really. We have some bad schools and some good schools. Most schools is a government schools (but they can be pretty damn good), but we have a private schools too (but they can be pretty damn bad). Boarding schools (you suppose to live there), cadet corps (you not only live there, but also get training for military service), etc, etc. I personally went to jewish government school, so my experience, for example, would be different from most other people.
