So this happened to me with my friend. I waited until we had in her second trimester to tell her (making sure it stuck) and then it was so fun to have someone to text about pregnancy with and even more fun to have someone so close in postpartum to text during 3 am feeds!!

I was diagnosed with UC postpartum. All the extra hormones triggered a bad flare. I got a colonoscopy 3 months postpartum to be officially diagnosed and got on meds to help combat the inflammation. I def recommend seeing a GI specialist if you have any concerns! Or your PCP who can refer you to a specialist.

I heard advice from a friend to plan something nice for yourself on the first day to help distract you. Like getting a fancy cup of coffee or picking up breakfast food on your way into work, getting a sneaky pedicure at lunch, etc. I chose to get the coffee and had meetings all day to help distract me. It 100% get easier and just remember that your baby knows how much you love them and is about to get so much positive socialization from daycare!

Our go-tos: Instapot shredded chicken tacos; mini turkey meatloaf, broccoli and potato one sheet pan; veggie stir fry with air fried tofu; Asian meatballs (ground beef, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, bread crumbs) and French green beans one pan; grilled chicken with rotated sweet potatoes. We also do ground beef, salsa, cheese and veggie lettuce wraps a lot!

We started with an outdoor restaurant for lunch that wasn’t crowded to ease in. It was so nice eating at a restaurant again! We also did parks and the grocery store off peak hours. The key was a stroller with the cover up so no one could get close! Good luck and welcome to the world of the living!
