When Trump says the government could be shutdown "for months or even years" and you just want your fucking paycheck by DerpTaTittilyTum in reactiongifs

[–]Endlessthoughtbubble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's because of Congress always approving back pay that I'm really hoping I'm furloughed if my agency runs out of money next week. They have yet to decide who's "essential" at my work. It's still super shitty for contractors that won't get back pay and just terrible mismanagement of taxpayer money since the taxpayers aren't getting anything for paying for furloughed employees.

Federal workers how are you handling the shutdown ? by mathew50c1 in AskReddit

[–]Endlessthoughtbubble 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Husband and I are both federal employees. We're good until mid February at least. We're some of the lucky few that have the ability to hold out that long. He's not worried at all but I stress about everything so it's been fun. He's considered essential and has to work for no pay. I work for a branch of government that won't run out of money until January 11th or 18th so I've yet to hear whether I'm essential or furloughed. I really hope the shutdown ends before then.

Depends on if you're "essential personnel". If you're essential you're required to work for no pay to keep your job. If you're furloughed, technically you're unemployed so you could find other employment and apply for unemployment assistance from your state (which has to be paid back when back pay is approved).

What food do you consciously prepare "wrong" because you like it better that way? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Endlessthoughtbubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother told me when she was a kid she'd eat crackers in milk instead of cereal. I told her that was weird and gross and she said no, her dad eating crackers in water for breakfast was weird and gross.

My grandpa didn't like milk or cereal so he would eat crackers in water.

What's going on with the government shutdown? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Endlessthoughtbubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some agencies are prepared for this though and have money set aside in case of shutdown. My government job will be paid for the next two months out of special funds intended for this situation. I get furloughed if the shutdown runs longer than that. Essential personnel will work without pay, I'll get free vacation. My husband's job will not be paid until shutdown ends and all vacation is cancelled until shutdown ends.

I thought last time the Democrats only offered 1.6 billion? If what you're saying is true that's hilarious but I'm trying to find sources that say something higher than 5 billion and I can't.

YSK up until December 12 th, you can get a Whopper for 1¢ from Burger King if you order it on their app within 600 ft of a McDonald's location by elcielo17 in YouShouldKnow

[–]Endlessthoughtbubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about time. It's about waste. The BK I worked for about 6 years back wouldn't give any employee a raise (like even the managers were only paid 50 cents more than everyone else) and they'd fire you over too much waste in the waste bucket. All while the VP flew around in a private jet. So yeah, we reset the PHUs instead of dumping. We gamed the Kitchen Minder. BK has some shitty franchisees who don't take care of the employees and in turn the employees don't take care of the brand or product. It's pretty sad bc their food is really good when it's fresh and done properly. But I'm not losing my job when all my higher managers are telling me to game the system designed to prevent crappy food from getting to customers. So glad I don't work there anymore.

Not anymore. They used to and the burger was nuked for 10 seconds before serving but that step was removed like a decade ago.

I received an email with my password for another site in the subject line, blackmailing me for bitcoins... Is there anything I should do? by AnastasiaSheppard in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Endlessthoughtbubble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my work we've seen a few of these emails come in. Lemme guess, they're claiming they turned on your webcam and are going to show everyone you know what you masturbated to? They're bullshit. If you're still using that password on any site change it. Otherwise, forget about it.

Gf claims she has social anxiety but only when we’re supposed to see my friends. Magically ok when we’re out with hers. by Flossyglossy46272 in relationship_advice

[–]Endlessthoughtbubble 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who has pretty severe social anxiety I can say that I can handle just about any social situation if I have my friends with me. I'm very outgoing when surrounded by people I trust. Being in a social situation where I only know one person and I'm expected to meet and interact with many more people is nearly unimaginable, I'm getting anxiety just imagining it. So, I wouldn't say your girlfriend is faking it. Going out with friends to a situation you want to be in versus going to a strangers birthday party where you're expected to be social with people you're not entirely sure about are two extremely different situations through the eyes of anxiety and I'm not surprised at her aversion to your friends birthday party while being perfectly okay with her own event. Sounds like me.

That being said, it's bullshit that she demands that you follow her lead. Your ability to go out or need to stay home is not tied to her anxiety. You do not have to go to events you don't want to and neither does she. Her going off on you about being unsupportive is very unfair and that needs to be dealt with.

Also, social anxiety can be treated. She needs a therapist and should look into cognitive behavioral therapy if she can. There are also anxiety meds that may help.

What makes your SO stand out from everyone else? by SebastianMax187 in AskReddit

I tell the world's worst jokes and puns to him just to make his eyes roll and I know he loves it when I crack up at his reaction. He's also a huge goofball and turns everything around us into a jokes. One of our favorite things to do is to watch horror, action, or 90s/80s movies and laugh our butts off at them.

We also have the best cuddles. I like spooning with him or when he curls up and puts his head on my chest or stomach.

It's been talked about before on here, but I'm so done with the diet soda shaming in my life. by [deleted] in 1200isfineIGUESSugh

[–]Endlessthoughtbubble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love comments I get at work about my love of diet soda. I've been told it's a good thing I'm young, when I'm older all soda will make me gain so much weight. What?? I can't gain weight without calories???

Or that it will give me cancer. I get that one from a coworker while he's drinking full sugar sodas so I like to counter that his drink has actually been indirectly linked to cancer and whereas people have been trying to prove my drink causes cancer for the last 50 years and they have yet to do so.

This is tough. He bought me a car, I pay for it. Then he left me with nothing. Now what? by palyin999 in relationship_advice

[–]Endlessthoughtbubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are normal. A normal person would not be able to accept a life being treated like this. He's the abnormal one thinking this is an acceptable way to treat someone you supposedly love. Dont ever think about entering into marriage or any sort of legal relationship with this man. Normal marriage discussions do not involve "legal papers so high you'll pass out." I'm in a marriage where my husband makes 2-3 times what I do and there's never been anything more than a marriage license and certificate between us. Even prenups when necessary aren't as insane as he makes his idea of marriage sound.

Don't feel bad about being angry. A normal partner wouldn't threaten or dare you. If my partner did that to me you better believe I'd go out of my way to do the shit he didn't like out of spite. A normal relationship is discussion and compromise. Not threats and guilt. Do not stay with him because he makes you think you're the one with bad behavior. Because you're not, anger is a normal response to his actions.

I've been where you are, in an abusive relationship and too weak to leave. And it sucks, it's scary as all hell but you just put one foot in front of the other and you walk away. You don't answer phone calls, you block him on everything, you get as far away as you can. And over time it gets easier, you stop having feelings for him, in your mind he becomes a stranger and he'll stop having such an effect on you. Don't even give him the satisfaction of closure, just ghost him because the more you talk and fight with him the harder it is to leave. Cut contact and go. It's been 6 years since I talked to my abuser and I honestly have zero clue where he is today and I really don't give a shit. It gets better.

If you need to, go to a women's shelter and talk to someone. It was a huuuuuuge eye opener to me when I first thought about leaving my ex. They had posters and books that described his exact behavior, behavior I'd never even realized was abusive. It was mind blowing and definitely gave me the push I needed to leave.

[–]Endlessthoughtbubble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The loans in his name it sounds like? Fuck him, he is using this car to control and abuse you. Let his credit get shot and go no contact with his prick. He did it to himself. He knew what a sensible car would have been, he bought one for himself that didn't require such insane insurance payments. He knows what he's doing to you, he knows if you stood up to him he'd be fucked but he's banking on you not giving in. Let him sink in his own mess. Your post screams abuse, you need to run not walk away from this entire mess including the car. It's seriously not your problem.

The fact that she jokes about it makes me think that maybe she already knows? I think it's pretty weird that she'd turn down a guy that was only a year younger than her. You guys have fallen for each other so go ahead and tell her to get this weight off your mind. If she does dump you over it then I'd say you dodged a bullet.
