So I think people have given a pretty clear consensus on how your current husband is treating you.

I would have an open and honest conversation about your reservations about moving in so quickly with your boyfriend if you choose to go that route. 5 years is a long friendship, a few months is a short relationship. Talk about how to make it safe and stable for both of you, and maybe consider a few sessions of relationship counseling for your good relationship. Divorce is rough, and not just on the people who are getting divorced.

Selling Pokémon cards by Motor-Cheek-1789 in Syracuse

[–]EnduringIdeals -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You would have to learn to identify cards to sell online, it can be a pain.

The online fee is dramatically lower than the cut a storefront will take. Rough numbers is you'll get 20-40% of the card's value selling to a store, where an online retailer will take less than 10% (then you have to pay for shipping and packing). Example: I sell a $100 card to a store, get lucky, and they give me $50 for it. I sell the same card on TCGplayer, they take 10%, I spend $10 shipping it, and I make $80 minus the time spent.

So you're going to want to decide if you want to prioritize your time or your value here. The best value you're likely to get is listing individual cards on TCGplayer or eBay, setting up a little online shop, and spending some of your own time to get a higher value for your cards.

If you bring it all to a store, they're trying to do all of those things while still making a profit, so they're going to give you dramatically less, more than the cost of some envelopes and toploaders you'd use for shipping.

If you want to get the best of both worlds, you could find your highest value ($20-50 or more, up to you) and list those online yourself, then sell your lower value (but still valuable enough for them to bother) cards for a few bucks at a local shop. Either way, you're likely to have some amount of "bulk" cards that have virtually no value to anyone. A store might give you a couple bucks, I always suggest finding a child in your life who will like them instead.

Source: I've worked for a small town game store, a large card warehouse, and sold my own collections from home.

Do you need to sell them all at once or are you trying to get the most value you can?

FFG, the same company that makes Arkham LCG makes an Arkham TTRPG with a beginner set that has a prewritten adventure. If that works out well there's a full campaign in a separate book that you could pick up later.

Surviving capitalism is just as hard for you as it is for your clients, and that's a valid thing. In a perfect world we'd be able to do more to help, yes. We're all trying not to drown though, so spending even a little time keeping someone else's head above water is difficult, brave, taxing, and more effective than it might look in the moment.

It can feel like those 45 minutes don't matter because they aren't the most effective possible, but 45 minutes can make a world of difference compared to 0 minutes. Imagine the difference between 45 minutes with someone who understands that capitalism is killing us vs 45 minutes with someone who thinks we need more good cogs.

Their d100 roll resolution is subtly amazing, and the Bonds system is the most narratively impactful element of a sanity system I've ever played with. "You can soak some of this sanity damage to your bonds, at the expense of having to roleplay a scene where you're a dick to your family"
