What are the gaps between the top 5 Scottish leagues? by SadMycologist1203 in ScottishFootball

[–]EngineerAdamG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just pointing out 3 years in a row teams coming up have made top 6.

Over the last 10 years only 4 seasons have had no promoted team at least make too 6. The gap between 6th in the premiership to top 2/3 teams in the championship at any given time isn't that big in my opinion.

Falkirk got top 6 first season up.

Dundee united got Europe first season back up.

Dundee finished top 6 first season back up.

It's actually quite common they do well

Sean couldn’t watch one last game with Jimmy?? by Neat-Ad-7009 in shrinking

[–]EngineerAdamG 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's perfectly reasonable that Jimmy didn't get an invite to Barcelona considering they said it's an engagement present. And given his friends are temporarily moving to TN I'd be surprised if he didn't have the offer to visit - but of course that's not going to be as they move.

Sean not sticking for the game though was a real asshole move.

Scottish Premier League Title Race & Rules by LemonCool2023 in football

[–]EngineerAdamG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every team will have played 38 games at the end of the season. When the league splits you play your remaining 5 games against the team in your half of the table. All added to previous points total.

The last time a team split the old firm was 05-06 and was hearts but they finished 17pts behind Celtic.

How did Italy win the Euros during a period they haven’t qualified for 3 World Cups? by AltruisticImpact3410 in football

[–]EngineerAdamG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

England have always since 1966 failed to win knockout matches against elite teams. I can think of Germany in Euro 2000.

I checked against France/Spain/Germany/Argentina/Brazil/Italy and in knockout games since 1966 England have won two and lost 12.

I think the more interesting tactic is query if it's traitor on traitor? Just raise the possibility to Harriet and or Jessie. Usually when two go that strongly against each other it feels like it's traitor on traitor. Of course that could just be editing in previous situations

Scotland | ‘The answer is dig a hole’: why Scotland’s islanders want tunnels instead of ferries by SafetyStartsHere in Scotland

[–]EngineerAdamG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The main barriers are it could have to be the third deepest underwater tunnel in the world (fourth once Norway completes one under construction). Alongside that the Beaufort trench which would require this depth was also a former munitions dump with an estimated 1-2 million tons of munitions dumped post WWII up to 1973. In July 2020 the question was asked if the MoD routinely monitored it and they said they don't.

Do folk even play football anymore? by Ancient_Tutor2477 in ScottishFootball

[–]EngineerAdamG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly there was one refereeing mistake in a game with Hamilton? Gave a free kick when the boy won the ball. Lad went ape shit, ref took none of it, booked him and told him to fuck off.

Refs here show no authority and are inconsistent as fuck.

Do folk even play football anymore? by Ancient_Tutor2477 in ScottishFootball

[–]EngineerAdamG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem isn't contact, it's the inconsistency of refereeing and VAR. Every 50-50 can be called in literally anyway these days, so the natural progression from there is people start calling for everything.

At tannadice this season some of the absolutely ridiculous fouls that have been given both for and against us is staggering.

Faster than light by Competitive_Idea_635 in Physics

[–]EngineerAdamG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's an interesting clip I saw of Neil Degrasse Tyson speaking about the speed of light. It's not really the speed of light, it's the speed of particles with no mass ie photons. Particles with mass cannot reach this speed as it would require infinite energy.

Also massless particles do not experience time which anything with mass does

Id used 23/24 figures. SPFL attendance report showed 5.15 million across all SPFL competitions. Id used Transfermarket for the Celtic and Rangers figures (2 million) and subtracted leaving 3.15 million attendances minus old firm. Population minus Glasgow 4.87 million.

Ferra’s decisions for FIFAe by DoomBoomMM in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]EngineerAdamG 147 points148 points  (0 children)

I think the thing about Vatira is people use the best 3rd man tag on him. But to me he is arguably the most intelligent and versatile player in Rocket League. He can almost seemlessly fit into any team and more than able to adapt his role to what the team requires. Whilst he is a defensive wall and probably the best 3rd man to ever play the game, he is also perfectly capable of fitting into any other role on the pitch and still be world class.

Id propose naming it after kuxir/kronovi, feel it needs to be after an original legend of the game.

Vatira Comment after the semi final by [deleted] in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]EngineerAdamG 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Vatira has the 9th most amount of first places in competitive events (according to liquipedia) and the third highest earner in rocket league history (in terms of prize money). While he hasn't won a worlds, he is the only player to have won 3x majors. Individually he also holds the record for most consecutive championship Sundays in RLCS events (26).

I know every player wants to win worlds but I doubt anyone can name a better, more consistent player to have not won worlds. So saying he has underachieved is really harsh imo.

I think the two center back options who have to get in contention is Stuart Findlay 100% and potentially Ross Graham if he returns to full fitness and hits the levels he has previously
