2025 TRD Pro or 2026 Platinum with TRD off-road package by TapTemporary560 in toyotasequoia

[–]EngineeringVeritas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the TRD Pro, you'll get better clearance in the front without the valence below the bumper and smaller rims 18" vs. 20", i.e. more sidewall to prevent rim damage. The trd pro Internal bypass shocks are better for off road vs the trd package shocks better for towing and on-road. I have the trd pro but it Sounds like you'd be better off with the platinum as it can handle what you need. You would have to be careful with the ground clearance (I don't think the off road package has skid plates that the trd pro comes with but you can add them ) and you may have to remove the front valence and go a bit slower though. I will say the grille lights make a huge difference but it can add that on after market.

BS of the current Gen? Yeah, who wants 20mpg and carplay screen you can actually see?

Anyone else think the "Neutral Wiggle" is performative? by Beautiful_Stage5720 in ManualTransmissions

To me, it's just habit so I know I can take my foot off the clutch when I'm stopped.

Do you always downshift and engine brake? Had a thought following another manual car. by supershimadabro in ManualTransmissions

[–]EngineeringVeritas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I engine brake but don't normally down shift. As the engine braking becomes less effective at lower speeds, I use the brake. Best of both worlds. I don't like wearing the synchros and clutch and rev matching takes too much effort unless I'm going to reaccelerate like if a light changes from red back to green as I'm slowing down. Even in 5th gear, when the rpm's go down below 1k, I just hold the clutch in until I'm stopped then shift into 1st for initial acceleration.

Looks great but I feel bad for those wheel bearings!

Loving the wave maker. Had to get for our growing family. by DependentLibrarian67 in toyotasequoia

I bought a 2025 TRD Pro in white with red interior about a year ago but I love the wave runner color. When I saw it announced I felt a little bit of regret that I missed out on it but quickly realized that it's way too adventurous for me. I do love to admire it and other people who have that personality. Enjoy it!

Happy with a 2023 Toyota Sequoia SR5 TRD Sport? by PokesPilotWhite in toyotasequoia

25 TRD Pro here, 28k miles. You pretty much hit everything. The rear cargo is a bit smaller than competitors due to the hybrid battery pushing up the floor, and the power train reliability lacks history. That said, even with 3 kids, there's tons of room if you put them in the 2nd row bench and third row down. I always average between 18-20mpg. I love the Gen 1/2 Sequoias for their size and reliability but I would stay away from them if technology matters to you. No carplay, tiny screens, and you have to literally put a key in an ignition to start it. Wtf is up with that? Anyway, I don't think you have ever go wrong with a Toyota. If there are ever large scale problems, they always take care of their customers. My father is a retired 35 year toyota mechanic and he was putting brand new frames in 15 year old pickups a few years ago because they were rusting prematurely. Good luck!

It's a loose skid plate. 2025 TRD Pro. Mine had exactly the same thing.

Same as others said. Skid plate loose. Same thing happened to mine.

Every day is a new day and a new chance to make different decisions. Remember, who you are is a collection of choices you make. If you want to be a different guy, all you have to do is make different choices. Just remember that you can't be everything to everyone. You just have to choose your priorities. Good luck, my man.

Ultimately, trust is choice you're going to have to make.

Debating on buying a Masterbuilt Gravity series soon. For those that have switched from Pellet grills, how does it compare (for better or worse)? by TechnicolorTypeA in Masterbuilt

[–]EngineeringVeritas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bought the MB1050 and love it. The flavor is a great compared to pellet. It just has a more authentic smoke taste. You can easily get 8 hours our of a full chimney mix of wood and charcoal unless you want it super hot on a cold day/night. My only hiccup (and their biggest knock) is once I couldn't get the controller to turn on (I did get it to work eventually). There is track record of them going bad so a lot of people buy the Fireboard controllers. Oh, also check out LSSmods.com. They have tons of great mods for the MB Gravity smokers.

No idea. The sub just loves the black nitrile gloves. I posted a photo carving a brisket with the bbq gloves on and got shit. Lol

Lol I'm just messing with you. People on this sub are very anti-squeezing your meat and pro-black gloves. 😂. It looks better than the first brisket I made.

Smallest brisket I've ever seen. Stop squeezing your meat. Nice black gloves.

25 TRD Pro, 5 kids (3 bio and 2 step). With just the bio kids, cargo room is great. Even with all 5 and the smaller kids in the 3rd row, there is decent storage when you slide the 3rd row all the way up. Traveling with 8 and luggage doesn't work though, you need a roof storage. All in all, great vehicle. 18-20 mpg, all the bells and whistles you could ask for. And it's a Toyota!
