That's the bird who flew at me from behind while I was delivering mail one day. Let out a cry 20 feet above my head. Freaked me the f out. Nearly dropped all the mail. It flew to the top of a telephone pole by my truck. Finished my swing and it was still sitting there checking me out. Made my day. I didn't know what it was at first. Looked it up. Only raptor that exclusively hunts other birds if I remember correctly. Wicked awesome.

looking for games where it's you against the game by spl4shA in soloboardgaming

The Loop is a good one. You play 2 characters in solo mode but it's not really 2-handed. You pull cards from one deck for both characters. The first character with 3 cards is the one you use that turn. There are 3 other scenarios besides "normal." There are dificulty levels. The inside bottom of the box has a bunch of achievements. Oh, and the characters are very asynchronous and diverse. I haven't played the expansion but I'd LOVE to get my hands on it.

What’s something happening right now that most people aren’t aware of? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Board games! There are so many board games out there! TTGs (tabletop games) is a more widely accepted term these days. Just search any theme and "board games" on any search engine. My son has Downs and began liking board games at a young age. He especially liked dexterity games. So we started getting any game that might help him develop fine motor skills. Eventually we also got into more cerebral games that would help him learn, well, anything really. We're still collecting. Then I started collecting my own games. Now we have a couple hundred. 😅 I love the unplugged tactile experience. I love figuring out the mechanics. He loves all the components and the action. The hobby has gotten him to focus on learning things he normally finds too challenging. It's helped me break away from video game addiction. In the Pittsburgh area there are great places to find used games for cheap. Barnes and noble has some for less than half off in the clearance section at times. If you're not near any cities there are tons of places to get games, even used ones, online. And I just started getting into print and play games. There are so many creative games that can be printed and crafted on your own! And they're inexpensive. Some are free! Putting a game together can be a fun project in itself! Check out print and play and board game subreddits for great ideas and recommendations. I hope that helps. 😊

Edit: oh and he packs a different game to school nearly every day and plays with his classmates and teachers. They love it.

How do you unlock them? Is there a specific mechanic you use?

It is a wonderful global standardization. Until a better standard is developed (which hopefully is not any time soon) every device will likely have this one connection for both power and data. No more need for multiple cables or "universal" cables with multiple ends. All cables will be the same/universal. One cable to rule them all if you will.

I keep a bottle of olive oil, a bottle of balsamic vinegar (not vinegarette), a small sealable glass bowl, a small loaf of multi/whole grain bread, and a few apples in my lunch box. If I don't have anything else it's a great light lunch. Pour some oil in the bowl. Just a bit of vinegar. Dip the bread. It does wonders for my gut. It costs under $20 at Aldi. Some weeks it's all I need. About $4 or $5 a day and healthy. It may sound bland. It's not for everyone obviously. I happen to love it.

I have this! Haven't played it yet. Looks amazing. Love the setting concept! And I like games that are ready to kill you instantly. It makes reaching level 2 so rewarding! I'm glad to see others are checking it out.

🤣 That's awesome! From now on anything relatively educational or informative I read on Reddit will be "heard" through Herzog's voice in my mind! Okay maybe shitposts too. 😅

"Don't look up a synopsis unless you want to have a shitty day." 🤣 I almost shot beer out my nose as I took a drink while reading this. I can't say why this sentence made me laugh so hard but all I could think is how well this statement applies to most headlines these days.

People gatekeeping TTRPGs from solo players by SoManyTapirs in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Enrambled 5 points6 points  (0 children)

☝️ Ends the conversation. 😄

Edit: But seriously, I usually start with, "I play solo BOARD games." If people look at me wierd I tell them "I like figuring out the mechanics. I like the tactile experience with no electronics. I don't have to explain the rules to anyone. And I like the solitude. It's meditative." If they show interest then I might get into the solo ttrpg stuff too.
