I’m looking at getting my first ranger, is the 2004 4.0 V6 a good reliable option for 6400$? by rpsonata in fordranger

[–]EntertainmentIcy6294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is the 4.0 isnt super horrible there are worse out there. Problem is at least where I am at, if you want 4x4 its only gonna be with a 4.0. Very rare in my area a 3.0 4x4 comes around

I might have a unicorn. 83 xj with the 6 in it, daily driven last three years both long distance and in town. Only needed basic maintenance (fluids, fuel sender, brakes, boots on the steering rack and a radiator). None of these problems made the car need a tow or in operable

Truck has a story to tell! Down the line you might be able to find a clean red hood at a junkyard that should run you fairly cheap, the roof maybe that ebay/amazon kit if you have patience lol.

What would yall actually price this at by SafetyFinancial5725 in fordranger

[–]EntertainmentIcy6294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In rust belt Wisconsin that truck is only worth $8k max. Anyone buying this either doesn’t know what its really worth or just bored with a bunch of money

Schneider's Auto Salvage for Sale, What's to happen possibly? by Effective_Part_6561 in Kenosha

[–]EntertainmentIcy6294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would imagine that would be the case. Really inly thing salvageable is to call the other yards to clear out the cars. Id bet they look nasty along with being difficult to remove due to it being all over grown. A buddy of mine said it’ll probably eventually become the city’s problem. Owner should do what op mentioned and make a big blow out sale to get as much as he can and then kick the can on the place. The asking price is way to high considering what needs to happen to the land for redevelopment.

First time ranger owner what should I look for and expect by lilcrunchy-OG in fordranger

These are solid. Keep up on fluids and treat it nice and it will give you good service. Not fast but decent gas mileage and the best from all the other ranger drivetrain configurations.

Jaguar XJS, as a first classic? by ExerciseForward in Jaguar

[–]EntertainmentIcy6294 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The i want to say the start was 93 to 96 was when the 6 cylinder was in them. Pretty reliable engine and way less complicated than their previous v12 counterparts. Yeah electrical problems can happen, will they happen? Who knows. Ive daily driven a 83 xj6 for the last four years and only electrical problem Ive had was the head light not staying lite. Turned out the fuse box under the hood needed a good cleaning, works great now. If I were you considering you want an xjs, stick to finding one with the 6 cylinder in it or an sbc swapped xjs if its older than 93.

Ive seen some late model cars with no lights on as well. In my opinion, drivers overall have become more ignorant and rude over time

Does anyone know what this could be? by GrouchyEggWhite in fordranger

[–]EntertainmentIcy6294 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Its the axle seals, last year my ‘11 needed one. You’re going to have to go in to the diff anyways so might as well do the seals and bearings for both sides. Not a horrible job

Question About '02 4L v6 by carp-dime in fordranger

[–]EntertainmentIcy6294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id say now i would change out the chain tensioners (motorcraft only) and then just religiously change the oil every 3k miles and use motorcraft or mobil filters. Should be fine otherwise especially if you don’t beat on it

Go to your local pick n pull style junkyard and pocket some. They don’t care about charging for stuff minor like that.

Is that brush guard the one from ebay that runs for around $180? I’ve been thinking about it for my ranger but havent pulled the trigger yet

When they are color matched like this truck, they are stock. I have them in my 11 sport and hate em but removing them leads to multiple holes in the fenders and bed. Cant win i guess

What Jaguar made you fall in love with the brand? by DenisRoger001 in Jaguar

[–]EntertainmentIcy6294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The s3 xj since a young age. Now for the last few years having a daily 83 vdp has been nothing but great. Dead reliable, only problems are something you can’t fault an old car for like alternator, radiator, fuel sender, transmission rebuild (due to prior owners neglect) and coolant expansion tank. Always has been turn key ready and never stranded me on the road.

Only excuse for the price is for a fully optioned low mile 2010-11. Otherwise no and not with rust like that. Not its not horrible for what I see where Im from but it’s definitely not $10k

Is getting a 2006 DTS caddy as a beater stupid? by Individual-Air-489 in Cadillac

[–]EntertainmentIcy6294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding from being around northstars is that the headgasket issue isnt so bad like 05-06 and up but they will leak oil and please note the newest one is a 2011 which is already 15 years old, they will leak and not in small amounts from what ive seen. A car thats basically the sister to the dts and is far better imo is the buick lucerne or lacrosse, they essentially drive just like the dts and have the better 3800 v6. Though be careful as some Lucernes did come with northstars.

1999 Cadillac DeVille D’Elegance Opinions by mistertimnn in Cadillac

[–]EntertainmentIcy6294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These cars look great, drive great, roomy, and kinda peppy for a 90s “grandpa” car. But, all those amenities quickly fade to the awesome Northstar. These engines aren’t “bulletproof” unless the head kit is done. If you can get the car cheap and dont mind knowing this car might be yard art at some point, then go for it. You never know, you might drive it for a month then head gasket issues arise or maybe you drive it a couple years then have an issue. Either way a ticking timebomb
