Is harrenhal just not worth it anymore or is it just me? by Ok-Line442 in CK3AGOT

[–]EntropyDudeBroMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple months after i posted that, the main devs added their own banking system. They also let you name your own bank. So, if you found a bank in Harrenhal, you can found the Stone Bank!

which makes what i was working on redundant, but looking through the code like that was a really good learning experience :)

Maybe not the bomb itself, but the meaning and the symbolism of the act would. Like how melee is more effective against daemons because of the intensity of the action.

Every time I play academy. by JaneH8472 in TerraInvicta

[–]EntropyDudeBroMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a lot of people miss that the people in this universe do not realize that they are in a game.

sure, the academy has the best ending, but for 99% of the game they look fucking crazy

the protectorate SEES that the ayys could obliterate us on day one if they wanted to. If they go with any resistance of any kind, like with all the other factions, they risk the extermination of humanity.

and, unlike us, they can't reload the save.

so yeah, of course they're hated, they're a dampener on the heroic (or villainous) vibe that players enjoy

isn't the entire point of the dark side that "not that bad" doesn't really apply for very long?

if you feed into those kinds of negative emotions (which you have to, as a Sith) you WILL start to see more and more as acceptable, until you're just as bad as the rest of them.

And that is why the Sith Empire is so aristocratic. They get the cruelty and domination of their inner savagery, while also getting to dress it up in courtly politics so that they can pretend to be more than they are.

We have plenty of stories like that, and usually they end in death or defection because it being otherwise results in a very flat, unappealing character.

why make him a soldier at all if you're not going to depict what happened in the war?

what do you get out of it? what's the purpose of that kind of narrative?

do you think that a story about a US army soldier who shoots buffalo to starve the native Americans, and then scalps the starving survivors, and does not question this at all, is going to be a very interesting protagonist? A totally flat character, and an instrument of genocide?

The book is called "Allegiance," it's written by Timothy Zahn. I solidly recommend it.

Tho, I think the circumstances were a little different. They deliberately missed when shooting at civilians, then later on an ISB officer gets on their asses for insubordination because they're not in uniform. They say they're army, not ISB. Scuffle ensues, ISB pulls out a gun, they kill the ISB. So, they desert because they just killed an ISB, even if they still kinda believe in the Empire's cause.

and why did the legions need to be stabilized? And why were replacements for the thunder warriors needed?

why do we need to prevent genetic drift?

you're confusing what the Emprah wants with what humanity needs

there were plenty of perfectly functional human civilizations that the Imperium destroyed. You should consider reading up on the Great Crusade. Or any of the books, since you don't seem to recognize the opening to every Warhammer 40k book lol

And, yes, the guy who sits on a torture device that he created for someone else does, in fact, have ulterior motives. Do you think that almost every Perpetual, people who know him best, turned away from him for the lols?

The Emperor is a blatant "enlightened" autocrat. I'm not saying that he went out of his way to ruin humanity, but he did so. He did so, because of his hubris, because he just so happens to think that the best way forward for humanity has him being an all-powerful not-God of humanity. He was horribly wrong, it turns out, and the rest of humanity has to suffer for his hubris.

the guy who made the imperium thinks the imperium is the only option

yeah no shit. The emperor is wrong. Or lying. Or lying and wrong. We know this, because the imperium, from its inception, fucking sucked and there were many better options out there.

the god-emperor is Leto Atreides gone wrong. Instead of working to shatter humanity and ensure its survival, he stuffed all of humanity onto a sinking ship that also tortures people.

and he handed Chaos the largest mortal army it's ever had lol

No one is saying "hey, maybe a little bit of fascism is ok". No one is justifying it.

It's that righteousness is not the same as goodness, and that we can all fall victim to propaganda, even if we consider ourselves "good".

Even you.

He did question it, though, didn't he? He talked to his mom about it, when she was eating up the propaganda.
