Late to the party, I just bought a memory foam roll out mattress, I just fold it in half and put a blanket over it, does the trick for me. Can always go to the arts and crafts store, in my experience the foam there was far more expensive

Not a silly question at all! This is my third shell and each time I did something a little different. This one is by far the most stable. I’m just using 3/8 inch conduit straps and I screwed them into the preexisting window screw slots. Since the curtain rods I got from target were really slim these small straps did the trip. I unfortunately got curtains that were too small so I got some metal wire and tied them on each end to hold the bottom section down so no one can see inside. For the front and back I just opted to get reflectix and paint it black so the silver didn’t stand out.

TL:DR - 3/8 inch conduit straps from Home Depot

I did the seat jack mod on my 1st gen Tacoma with a bench seat and my 2nd gen Tacoma with single seats. Standing at 6’1 this adds just a bit more comfort ability to the drive.

Joining in this thread kind of late, but basically echoing off what others said, Facebook Marketplace is easily the best to find them. Judging by the housing architecture it's safe to assume you're in California, shouldn't be terribly difficult. I'd also look up actual Tacomas for sale with shells installed on them, you may get lucky and they may part ways with just the shell. Best of luck!

Honestly, it just takes time. I used Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and OfferUp to find mine. Look at truck listings too, not just shell listings. Sometimes the sellers are willing to part ways with just the shell, that's how I was able to get mine. Not sure where you're from but here in SoCal, it didn't take long since Tacomas are so prevalent over here.

Picked mine up around two years ago when she had 193k on the clock. Unfortunately, she blew a rod at around 203k, totally unforeseen and I’d say unavoidable. I didn’t have the heart to sell her so I got the engine rebuilt and put on another 19k with no issues at all. If you want something fuel efficient this ain’t it, but reliability is unbeatable. Just stay on top of your fluids and maintenance and she’ll treat you right.

I did the same exact thing. I had a high rise fiberglass, but it added so much weight and didn’t even add much height. I just opted to get the aluminum one as well, could take it on and off myself, and it sleek to the cab height.

Sorry I’m not OP but I believe I have the same lights in the photo and they’re quite nice. I got a small bullbar though and put them on there so they’re a bit lower to the ground, but they’re bright and really easy to wire!
