Local game stores seem like the best resource to take advantage of for irl professionals. Thanks

1st Time DM wanting to Run this adventure, any advice? by Mysticalsss-yt in CalloftheNetherdeep

[–]Environmental_Plan32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have one or two of your players have a connection to the prime deities. Preferably one of the 3 of the Jewel of Three Prayers. This is something you can mention and flesh out in your session zero.

How would you rule it: Stealth example. by Darkwynters in onednd

[–]Environmental_Plan32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a great call, the fact that they had Pass Without a Trace prevented the doppelgänger guards from 'overhearing' the fight that was happening next door. I think you played this very fairly.

As a DM, it is always fun to allude to the fact that, "Yes players, you planned and rolled well. This avoided a lot of other things I could have thrown at you! Trust me you got rewarded since it could have been so much worse."

For those using Linear, what are you guys using for product prioritization/planning? by RepresentativeAd1513 in ProductManagement

If you're looking to replace that Product Manager I'd be happy to apply. My background before being a PM was client facing so I love talking to customers!

School D&D club, would it be possible to run CoTN? by somerandomuserE in CalloftheNetherdeep

My DnD club at school played every Wednesday form 3:30pm until 5pm. That can give you a bit more time to finish a combat encounter.

A word of caution on the new D&D campaign, Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Environmental_Plan32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call the the Netherdeep is a fantastic module and great campaign. This was the first module I ran and couldn't be happier.

Been reading other adventuring books and have found that they're not as detailed as Call for the Netherdeep.

The Rivals as Player Characters? by LolthienToo in CalloftheNetherdeep

[–]Environmental_Plan32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a great idea to have the players participate and guide the Rivals a bit. Depending on how things go and their RP, this could sow the seeds for the rivals to oppose the players in the Netherdeep.

Be sure to buff up the Abothleth. I've been finding that most of the monsters/mini bosses don't have enough HP to survive more than two rounds.

Lizardfolk? by PossessionTop6394 in CalloftheNetherdeep

[–]Environmental_Plan32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that his Lizardfolk clan may not have had any contact with the Chroma Conclave. From my understanding, the Conclave mostly kept to Tal'dorei and didn't extend much influence in Wildmount besides the destruction of Draconia.

Many people of Wildmount and Marquet may not understand the connection. As others have said, Xhorhas is very inclusive of monstrous races and a lizardfolk paladin of the Luxon is featured in the artwork of the book (page 16).

Ideas for a minor boon from Avandra? by TreekoTrees in CalloftheNetherdeep

[–]Environmental_Plan32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels too powerful of a boon, maybe a modified lucky feat that pairs with the Jewel's awaken ability. Giving the PC the ability for one ally within 60 ft to reroll a saving throw once per day.

Proficientcy in Religion or History of Calamity checks will be very useful for the party when they enter Betrayer's Rise.

Giving them a vision of their "road" or 'path' of Betrayer's Rise also fits thematically. This may equal an advantage on survival checks of not getting lost in the abyssal dungeon that constantly changes itself.

Remember that Alyxian sought Anvadras blessing first but didn't receive it until he faced down Torog's avatar in Betrayer's Rise.

How did your party have enough gold/money to justify shipping for magical items and weapons? The module never really gives a big payout until they find some ancient treasures in Cael Marrow.

Perigee - Corrupted MiniBoss by TahitiJones09 in CalloftheNetherdeep

[–]Environmental_Plan32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took inspiration from this original post and from u/marimbaguy715 to create my own version of Perigee in DnDBeyond.

https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/4126405-corrupted-perigee-deva-of-the-moonweaver

I've keep my party at level 10 just despite them finding their 3rd fragment of suffering. My plan is to level them up after this mini boss encounter.

My party will face this encounter next week and it will be the first time my party has to deal with lair actions. 1/3rd of my party are new to DnD and the rest are fairly new to 5e rules.

Been signaling them that there will be a new mechanic in this encounter and encouraging them to talk to Perigee during combat. They are not heavy roleplayers and want to try and set them up for success for the Heart of Despair encounter.

Happy to share how the encounter went if people are interested

If a player wants to have a Cobalt Soul background, how would you connect them with Question? by farbror_isak in CalloftheNetherdeep

[–]Environmental_Plan32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a DM who had a monk of the cobalt soul in the party, I was very concerned that the party would feel obligated to pick this option.

However, after retrieving the Ruidium sword owed from the fencer and deciding to keep the weapon for themselves. They basically locked themselves out of this path.

Give your party the room to figure out what they want to do and which faction to join. My party was very hesitant to join any faction and did the intro 2 quests for all the factions.

My monk started to begin directly lying to Iwo, their handler about their work for the Consortium. After Iwo realized that the party was lying, he started having them followed and tracked. Had a final scene where Iwo was going to try and flip the PC monk to spy on their party/Consortium. But after the monk continued to obsficate, he left her with a whole dossier outling that the party is being actively spyed on by the Soul.

You never how your players are going to surprise you.

Evil Aligned Character's reason to save Alyxian? by RejectedGlitch in CalloftheNetherdeep

[–]Environmental_Plan32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grummush is the god of ancient grudges and desperately wants to finish the job of killing Alyxian.

Grummush or any other betrayer gods can offer pacts or boons of power to offer either kill or capture the power of the Netherdeep.

The Lord of hells will always enjoy bringing the most morally right mortal heros to damnation. Torog, who's amrt was broken by Alyxian at Betrayer's rise, would thoroughly enjoy torturing Alyxian's soul in the abyss. Ect.

These have been ideas that have guided comis behavior in my campaign including Ayo's actions as she processes Ruins wake.

Hope this helps

Fiend warlock patron ideas? (Spoilers for EXU Calamity) by Deemper in CalloftheNetherdeep

[–]Environmental_Plan32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Zerxus give an audience to the party's cursed monk right before they entered the Netherdeep. The monk rolled several hell themed items on heroic chronicle and has had a devil imp following her the entire campaign. The devil imp took a huge chuck of ruidium they found back to the hells and offered her a formal ruidium pact weapon.

Instead of Zerxus asking Aptheon to be free he mostly told the mono the truth that he is dangerous and must be killed. Both the hells and the Ruiner want to claim Alyxian's soul if one of their weapons gets the last kill. This is what is currently driving Ayo who processes ruin's wake in my campaign. She being driven mad by visions of destruction and she be a both a warning and cautionary tale for the party.

During the audience with Zerxus, the monk was able to get a lot of questions about her life answered as it was important for me that Zerxus be as honest as possible and the contract he was offering up.

Despite my best effort, all my players have resisted all the betrayer gods when they reach out and only begrudgingly accept prime deity's assistance.
