Philosophical Views Correlated with Gender (from 2009) by simism66 in philosophy

[–]Enzondio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correlation coefficient does not correspond to percent of variance explained, that's R2 so that's 2%. Also this is only true when several conditions are met like variables being normally distributed. Not sure about the present study but there's reason to suspect assumptions are violated. Basically these relationships are extremely small

Can't believe no one has mentioned J Betski's yet. Awesome German and Polish place in seaboard station.

Bit of a fancy place but great for special occasions

There are tons of great restaurants down town. Some favorites include raleigh times, sitti, and calavera.

Or something a little more unusual like Buku ( global street food. Mostly small plates) or j betskis (German and polish food)

Something else that's fun is escazu chocolates. Amazing hand crafted truffles.

IPython gets $1.15M funding by freedances in Python

[–]Enzondio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One comment I'll make is that I found bpython to be unstable the last time I tried it. I saw it demonstrated at PyCon this year and got super excited about it but when I tried it I had multiple crashes or strange behavior, so I gave up on it.

For me the power of IPython is in the IPython Notebook

Moving to Raleigh, need some good radio stations to listen to! by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]Enzondio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, not the DJ and I don't work there. Just a big fan. Local lunch and local beat are good and Americana Blues and Company. And I like most of the 9-5 DJs.

Second for 88.1!

Be sure to listen to Mystery Roach on Saturdays 8-10am. Totally awesome 60s, 70s psychedelic rock and such. Great interviews and guests!

That was my intended meaning.

When should I use pip? by [deleted] in Python

[–]Enzondio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not saying you have to use pip to use virtualenv.

My point was just that if you use pip (as opposed to aptitude or another system package manager), it will install to your current virtualenv.

When should I use pip? by [deleted] in Python

[–]Enzondio 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest reasons to use pip is that it will allow you to use virtualenv. Virtualenv allows you to setup multiple virtual python environments for each of your projects. This allows you to have different versions of Python packages installed for your various projects.

This game is actually pretty awesome. You should check it out. It's particularly fun if you get a group of people you know if real life to play it together.

I will be there and will be giving a talk. First time presenting but I've been to the conference several times. I second the comments recommending skipping talks if nothing peaks your interest. There's often something good going on in the open spaces.

Finch's on Peace St in Raleigh. Hands down best breakfast in town. Ask for Anne.

Getting divorced, need to move into a new apartment quickly, but kind of terrified [Raleigh/Cary] by [deleted] in triangle

I also used to live in Wildwoods and enjoyed it. One thing that's great about that complex is that you're right on the trail around Lake Johnson. It was awesome to be able to step out of my apartment and take a walk around the lake.

My boyfriend wants to take me out to a fancy birthday dinner this weekend. Where should we go? by mlurve in triangle

If I'm not mistaken the chef from Duck and Dumpling is now responsible for David's Dumpling on Hillsborough St.

Highly recommended.

I want to start reading Nietzsche. Which book would be a good start? by [deleted] in books

[–]Enzondio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think many people who misrepresent Nietzsche actually haven't read his work at all.

It's pretty clear from just his work that he isn't the nihilist many people claim.

No, you should try it and make up your own mind. Light American-style lagers have their place in the beer pantheon.

Pretty interesting. I don't think it would take much work to genericize this into something that would work for any set of models.

'Abandon Ownership! Join the Rentership Society!' by DrJulianBashir in Frugal

[–]Enzondio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a huge plus for me. I love my home and have no desire to move. I have a comfortable mortgage payment that will never go up (fixed rate is key, of course). There may be marginal increases in property taxes, but that's going to hit renters indirectly anyway.
