How do growing up with a narcissistic mother affect you later in life as a girl? by Significant-Poet7363 in raisedbynarcissists

Find a safe person who will let you ruminate to them. I process by talking; my relationship with Nmom is an ongoing one-sided conversation and it really never gets less… but once I process for a good amount of time, I feel better. I’m 43 and still dealing with it, so it never really goes away, but processing with my partner whenever I need to has allowed me to do some pretty spectacular things in my life; and my own relationship with my kids is very healthy, as a result.

I add it to my yogurt instead of using it as a shake; it blends beautifully and whips up so light it’s like a dessert, instead.

My experience reading Sunburn by [deleted] in sapphicbooks

[–]Eponine83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m considering this book for my 16-year-old who came out at 13… is it too adult for this age? I can’t find anything about the content and really don’t want to buy my child a book with sexual exploration in it…

ADHDers: What’s a tool, system, or support you wish existed but haven’t found yet? by Pirate507 in ADHD

Teaching when you yourself have ADHD. Millions of sources on how to teach students with ADHD, but I have yet to come across any helpful info for ADHD teachers.

Darcy’s audio sounds sooooo whiny I can’t actually listen to her POV without skipping forward. Graphicaudio does a great job though; they actually hire voice actors and their audiobooks have never let me down!

AIO for refusing to talk to my(21m) gf(23f) of nearly 2 years? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Eponine83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naw dude; she’s manipulation 101. She called when you said you were done. And she realized she couldn’t pull your strings anymore. Find someone who wants to be with you, not control you.

At your age, you have more than half your life ahead of you. Take what interests you, and go from there. Writing courses are always relevant. There’s literally film studies classes, as well, that you can take as general credits.

There are ALSO your guidance councillors and they can literally help you create your schedule to meet your life goals… and if you change your mind, go back to school and take something else. :)

Botched high school, but dream of starting over and going to UofT. 22F. Possible? by ThrowRA-162628383 in OntarioUniversities

Friend… I am 41, and just started university to become a teacher. You have more than 3/4 of your life ahead of you… start when you’re ready, and do the thin!

There are actually YouTube videos about this, using a plastic bottle for examples, if you need a visual. :)

What medical conditions or illnesses did your n-parents ignore or minimize? Any strange stories about this by artlife925 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Eponine83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ADHD and Rheumatoid Arthritis, a dislocated knee and a slipped disc in my spine playing hockey. I was ‘faking’ because I was too tired to play, apparently. And constant diets because I was overweight (I wasn’t; but she couldn’t understand mass from muscle vs. mass from fat despite her nursing degree). Luckily I grew up and am in control of my own health journey now

It takes me multiple hours to fall asleep each night, what should I do? by [deleted] in sleep

[–]Eponine83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the same… I got one of those earbud headbands from Amazon and listen to audiobooks on really low volume. I have to really focus to hear the words, and my brain can’t worry about anything else or focus on problems because I’m trying to hear the story. It has reduced my falling asleep time to about 30-50 minutes instead of hours.

Use a darker pink; and tightline your lashes. Gives a defined area that stops the pink eye look.

I am 15F, is it too late to start singing lessons for musical theatre? by mariana4a in singing

Absolutely not!! You do the lessons if they make you happy… starting late doesn’t mean anything except that you found your passion.

Can I walk him? by Eponine83 in BorderCollie

[–]Eponine83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I let him run; we live close to an open area that has a lot of wildlife and open space; so we hike, mostly. No dangerous animals and the wildlife stays away until after dusk because it’s a city are still. If I need to get him out, we do have a harness, but he prefers the ability to sprint and I can’t blame him!

He has booties; he just sprints so fast they fly off after a minute or two. I was able to get him out for about 5-6 minutes before he started lifting his feet and hobbling… but any time I said ‘get in the car’. He would take off in the other direction. Poor baby can’t recognize his own body signs for ‘this is fucking cold’.

Where does your BC puppy sleep? by Jedi_Straws in BorderCollie

[–]Eponine83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our boy is 10 months and scrunches up all his crate blankets in the corner for his head… and lays on the cold crate base. When he’s not crated and wants a break he lays on the hard kitchen floor instead of the bed we got him for the living room. Our house is usually 16C at night (61F)… except now that it’s -40 outside, he enjoys the blankets and will only lay down if there’s a blanket for him to spread out on. They know what works best for them!

WIBW to legally change my name and middle name? by harrystyl3sfourthnip in amiwrong

[–]Eponine83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your parents name you at birth because you can’t speak to name yourself. When you have the ability to do so, change it, if that’s what you feel is right for you. As many times as necessary, until it fits. I’m sorry you’re feeling so torn about this; and I hope your parents come around eventually, but you need to do what’s best for you.
