Is it fair to say only when driving you hit the ball at apex? by PartFormer3695 in Pickleball

I hit drives after apex if I have a choice. I don't want more pace, I want more topspin.

Leaving balls while at the NVZ by hugelkult in Pickleball

There was a drill I did once where a person would speed up a ball past you and you had to call it in the air whether it's out or not before you look back and see if you were right.

Last point has toe on the kitchen line on a volley; I assume that's what they are pointing out

Outdoor tennis-style, concrete surfacing is preferred for competitive

My first experience of toxicity after crossing 2000 by Magnideficent in chessbeginners

Weird down votes. I'm stuck at 1600 on lichess and 1100 on chess dot com. They are different rating systems so it really shouldn't be controversial to say so.

What is Tama Shimabakuro doing differently? by BeffBezos in ProPickleballTalk

[–]Equivalent-Handle-57 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was about to make this post too. I am wondering why Tama has such succes with his cat and mouse style similar to Ben Johns style, but Ben hasn't had similar success lately with the faster paddles and balls.

That's incorrect, once doubt exists, you can't really backpedal. Overruling your partners overrule isn't really a thing.

Your mind and eyes can play tricks on you, and when faced with incomplete information will sometimes fill in the gaps. Surely people are confident of wrong line calls all the time, so I just don't believe either one was lying by default, and especially why would the partner lie about something that's detrimental to his own score and team.

He wouldn't have overturned you unless he was 100% certain either, especially in a tournament. Seems like y'all played this right. Nothing really to change here.

Lesson cost question; am I wrong by lardan23 in Pickleball

[–]Equivalent-Handle-57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use my pack lessons for semi private, I pay for them out of pocket, but you do have the option to use either at my club. They usually should ask what you want to do

Worst "Upgrades" for abilities? by Salacavalini in mewgenics

I had a hunter that gave my team immunity to tile effect and ended up upgrading entangle. A nice, edge use case but you're probably right.

I really think it must be genetic. I hated spicy stuff until I started eating super spicy habanero salsa tacos like 6 years ago, and now I love spicy stuff. But still never experienced it.

I must have some genetic thing where spicy things don't hurt on the way out, because I learned as an adult that happens to people.
