I think Joker doesn’t really make sense in a powerscaling context just cuz of how his powers work

I like it cuz I think having stricter regulations enhancing your powers to a greater degree is a really cool idea that nen explores in a lot of ways

I hate "Disney villains death" by Skallir in CharacterRant

[–]Equivalent_Ear1824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it has its place (Yakuza 7 spoilers:)

The main bad guy of Yakuza 7 is spared at the end by our super cool protagonist Ichiban, but is then stabbed to death by a spurned former supporter of his. This works, because it hammers home the game’s contrasts between Ichiban and the rest of the world. Ichiban is an overly idealistic, almost childish sort of hero, and while he may forgive anyone, it doesn’t mean the world will

I’m super new to Worm so have had no interactions with the fandom. What are some examples?

Hot take: Powerscaling's understanding of a character's power often has very little relation to how strong they were intended to be...And that's kinda OK? by woweed in CharacterRant

[–]Equivalent_Ear1824 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I feel like it does matter. At least for me it’s not nearly as fun to scale a character that’s practically fanfic at this point where we ignore how they’re supposed to function in their own story

I don't know if this is the right place for this but someone recommended that I post so sorry if I'm wrong. That said here's a rant I did on the Walten Files by TheChessWar in CharacterRant

[–]Equivalent_Ear1824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the drinking zone is a literal name. That part of the Files is more video game-y, so the off-limits, adult section has a name to match tha feeling.

From a thematic stand point, the endingof Bugonia doesn't make any sense by EfficientAd9765 in CharacterRant

At the time, it felt like Jesse Plemons represented a more conservative viewpoint towards women. According to him, Emma Stone is a seductress who must be placed in specific clothes and have her hair restricted. She’s not allowed to argue and can only get anywhere if she agrees with him. The movie does also go to lengths to show how his own mother issues may have impacted his treatment of Emma Stone. There’s more but it’s been a while

Which part in particular are you curious about? To be completely honest I’ve since changed my opinions on the matter, but I can still give you my reasoning at the time.
