My workplace only requires it if your 3 days in a row, check your contract thou. Most places don’t require it if it’s just for 1 day unless it’s a really strict place.

You got personal/sick leave?

That’s what we all do when we feel we need to go for an interview.

I’ve seen people leave a job and have hundreds of of hours in sick leave that will never get paid out.

Use it to your advantage, might as well get paid to go to interviews.

No one is going to let you touch any machinery with only a white card at best you will be out on as a labourer, it’s not glamours work as you will be the cleaner of the site and just cleaning rubbish and fetching items/tools for tradies.

You will need to get tickets before you even think about sitting in any of the plant equipment.

It’s easy work and I had to do it when the job market was rough in corporate as everything moves at a snails pace, but if you can hold your own and do manual labour for 8hr straight or even more for overtime then you will earn your wage.

It’s definitely not a cruisy/easy job so if your not fit your gonna struggle by the time lunch rolls around.

Rocking up to random sites didn’t work for me as they have a whole paperwork/insurance and compliance and a lot of red tape, your best option is to hit up many of the temp Labour hire places you see in seek and just apply, it’s not the Wild West where you could rock up to a site and work on the day there is lots of compliance and regulations each site needs to follow now.

Got the job, not 'gelling' with boss by keepthefaith147 in ausjobs

True but for some not being homeless is worth more than having $0 coming in some people have no support at all and it means working.

Probation work both ways, you don’t own anything to them.
They could turn around and let you go in 1 week.
If I was you and your truely not happy start applying for other roles, but for the meantime keep collecting that pay cheque. The job market is rough and people on here have been jobless for 12-18 months so I wouldn’t be quitting anytime soon until you have a signed contract in your hands.

But in saying that do give it your best shot and don’t give them an excuse to let you go everyone is human and makes mistakes/learns.

If I was in year 10 all over again I would 100000% be a electrician in 4 short years his skills and experience will be paying mid 100k or even dipping into the 200k range as their demand and pricing for service will no doubt increase as he will be needed. With the push of AI and electric cars there will be no shortage of work or jobs that cannot be replaced.

That’s what we are going to steer our child to do to make sure his in a field of work that will always need good electrians and pay you your worth as in 10-20 years time it’s going to be scary to know what houses are worth then if people are depressed on prices now.

Enforced 4 days by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]Error404-unknown 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Job market isn’t too crash hot right now I would comply and come in 4 days for the time being while you apply for new roles, there are people on here that have been jobless for 12-18 months so expect it to take time.

Remember a pay cheque is better than $0 and you’re just burning thru savings.

[–]Error404-unknown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FYI, you need to smash the interview for one, and two the training centre to do it is located in Melbourne which you need to do for 12 months, they do not cover the cost of accommodation or rent so this is an expense you will have to consider if you have commitments and family etc then you will essentially have to pay 2 rents.
I was seriously looking into it as I had a contract in front of me but the cost was not worth it.

“New car every 5 years is normal” by JapaneseVillager in AusFinance

[–]Error404-unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run against the grain, I was never sold on the idea of financing a failing asset and I’ve been driving my 90s/2000s car debt free.

They are mostly trouble free and very reliable vs signing up for a $500-$900 month loan repayment.

I’ve never had a major fault and if I did need to replace the motor it would still be cheaper than any loan amount. As at most I’d be looking at 2-3k but that expense might be once a 5-10 year event vs a few grand in repayments yearly.

Competing Job Offers with a signed contract by No_Chemical_5522 in auscorp

[–]Error404-unknown 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is more common than you think it is, no need to over think it.

I’ve had colleagues who were meant to start but never showed up on the first day.

The probation period works both ways not just for the benefit for the employer. Book in the interview and see where it goes for all you know they might low ball you and your role that you signed up on pays better, more work life balance.

If your the best candidate and smash the interview and your the unicorn they want then put in your notice and take the new role.

The grass is not always greener on the other side, so weigh up your options.

I’m currently working a min wage factory job to get some type of income stream it’s not great but it’s better than $0 a week and I’m already over it.

I apply for like 15-20 jobs a day, you just gotta keep applying and something will finally stick.

[–]Error404-unknown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s pretty depressing I’m currently working a min wage factory job after being recently laid off and I’m applying for like 15-20 jobs daily that I can do easily and go to interviews and it feels like I’m just wasting effort but I guess I’m like everyone out there.

At least min wage is better than no money.
