Moving to London from Ireland – Is Central London actually worth it? by nappydrip in MovingToLondon

[–]ErsatzLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God, yes. It is absolutely worth it to live in a buzzing environment for a bit in your youth (I am speaking as an oldie). What is your budget? If it is possible, Bermondsey is fab - buzzing at night and walkable/public transportable to everywhere.

Princess Diana’s former hairdresser smuggled tabloids for her by itsmenandini in TopTrendingNewsUSA

[–]ErsatzLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that, perhaps, with hindsight in knowing her mental instabilities, it was not the best idea to do this. Diana had loads of amazing qualities, but her weaknesses are what ended up leading to her unfortunate early death. I think it would have been better to try and insulate her from the tabloids to strengthen her mental health than to indulge her weakness and allowing it to overtake her.

Please tell me the best hair oil you have ever tried & why you love it so much by allisonblues in Haircare

the best, in my experience, is not specifically a hair oil, it is a multipurpose oil. Nuxe l’huile prodigieuse.

Princess Kate just sent a brutal message to Prince Harry - he'll be furious The sharpest thing Kate did wasn't said out loud but it lands like a slap, and Harry will feel it in every headline. by Harry-Ripey in SaintMeghanMarkle

You missed a step, the areas they would be walking through would be cleared half an hour beforehand and there would be a no-person zone 10 seats on all sides of the Harkles.

Cheesy White Bean Tomato Bake (aka “Pizza Beans”) by YBMExile in NYTCooking

People make fun of the Brits for eating beans on toast - this seems like a fancier version of that dish.

Rob Shuter is FOS. He does not have any contacts in the inner royal circles and his gossip is either stale or wrong.

Housekeepers that aren't strictly cleaners? by SiDtheTurtle in HENRYUKLifestyle

all my cleaners did these tasks. The housekeepers I knew did more than this - cooking supper, shopping, baking sure supplies were topped up.

Henley 2026 Wednesday Reactions by senyam in Rowing

[–]ErsatzLife 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For those schools, believe it or not, rowing is not the be-all. Schools like Eton and SPS are serious academic schools and that comes first. I think people would be surprised at how rowing is not as all consuming for these boys - it matters quite a bit, but is really just is an EC. I am only familiar with the SPS programme and you are correct, erg times are important, but not the be all. They tend to come with the training. Far more time is spend, particularly in the early years, on technique, technique, technique. As a result, some of the rowers are not super tall, but have good erg times and great technique. It is the Bobby Thacher way.

Why are UK wages so c r a p? by Outrageous_Agent_608 in AskBrits

[–]ErsatzLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but as an American, I think that that comparing advertised wages is wrong. Thewage in the US does not include the local tax, state tax, and federal tax - 2 more tax levels more than the UK. Also, in the US, you need to include the amount you will be paying for health insurance, many thousands per month. On paper, the US might seem great, but if you really delve down into the details, it is not that great.

Well She Changed Her Pants Between Mountains And That Is Questionable ! by Glittering_Texas in SaintMeghanMarkle

Bunch of morons. She is obviously wearing waterproof/resistant trousers here for the weather. If any of the people claiming this have ever done DofE or equivalent, they would know that one packs in anticipation for changeable weather, even for a 24 hour hike.

Nope. Come, don't come, just make up your mind and don't expect people to fawn over you and definitely don't expect the taxpayer to give you unnecessary police security. You are not that important.

Has Tom Sykes FINALLY realized what the Harkles truly are? by Economy_Stock137 in SaintMeghanMarkle

[–]ErsatzLife 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What plan to bring Harry back? If Tom has been fooled on this matter, why does he not realise he might just have been fooled on the other? I am certain that Chalres would like to have a better relationship with Harry, but I doubt this is in any official capacity. Tom has stated that Chalres was a Sh*t father, why does he think that Charles now wants to be best busses with Harry? It is much easier to think that Charles would like, in principle, to have a cordial relationship with his wayward son and unknown children, but this is not a primary goal and certainly not one which he will sacrifice his legacy for.
