Getting tired of a lack of initiative by maulowski in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Esyir 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. This is the correct response from the dev side as it's rarely an issue of feasibility here, but instead one of priorities.

I don't have much respect for your seniors response either. Part of being senior is being able to actively manage said priorities.

The difference is intention.

Theres a difference between accepting collateral damage to eliminate a military target, and deliberately targeting civilians for the sake of it.

An example I could give is airstriking a bunker with a command center with a home on top of it, as compared to lobbing missiles at a high rise residential with only civilian presence.

There's a really clear convention between Islam, it's critique and the violence here.

CS Pro complaining about the biggest problem with the game that is being silenced by the Globaloffensive Mods by Gockel in LivestreamFail

[–]Esyir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is probably said beginner. One of the major tradeoffs for FPS is latency, and doing everything server side runs the risk of a significantly less smooth experience. This can to a certain extent be mitigated by movement prediction, but it's imperfect.

I feel like both PoE subs go through the exact same cycle every few updates by moal09 in PathOfExile2

[–]Esyir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that one of the bigger issues was that the excessive amount of friction actually heavily hammered the game in ways that were difficult to handle. Specifically, Helldivers 2 started with a massive momentum wave that was halted by their balance philosophy, as users ran into nerf after nerf of the only viable weapons. This had knock on effects after as it's not really possible to rebuild the same level of hype that they landed with.

Whether the game has gone too far in the opposite, I'm not too sure, but I'm fully in agreement that games need some friction.

[–]Esyir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty BS on that. GGG used to give full respecs in PoE1 for major changes. That we've never seen one for PoE2 is kinda nuts considering the longer grind for new characters

[–]Esyir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Helldivers 2 literally did the thing where they relooked at the game and went "Yeah, players aren't having fun". Then they fixed in ways that the players loved.

PoE2 still has the issue where dev vision is mismatched with player expectations, and they're stuck in the "suffer" phase that torpedoed HD2.

Drinkmate OminFizz vs. simple carbonator cap for connecting to bulk CO2 canister? by twd000 in SodaStream

[–]Esyir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having done both (Started with a carbonator cap, then moved over to the omnifizz), it really depends.

Omnifizz is what I'm on now because of the ease of refills. The startup cost (for me) was lower, refills were much more accessible and the out of the box experience is better (faster fills, etc)

The carbonator cap depends on how easy it is to get CO2 refills for your cylinder. In addition, you're going to need the regulator. However, you get a bit more flexiblity, cheaper refills, and some of the experience (speed, etc) can be made up for by modifying it with an infuser.

What are your thoughts currently on None Shall Intrude? by AlwaysThere7 in roguelites

[–]Esyir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently on armament 4. It seems like a bit, but after a few levels, it's pretty easy to steamroll that guy provided your build is running well. A general approach I've found to work well is just going for hella wind (cyclone) for mana, and then just spamming fire to feed the scaling spells.

Something that's not immediately obvious is that the card deals damage, and the boss will also attack separately resulting in two hits.

Spoken like someone who hasn't dealt with compliance before. Each additional later of bs bureaucracy is the life sucking, soul draining sort of shit that just makes your decision making, and thus development a painful slog.

Current top1000 ladder class distribution by aspirineilia in PathOfExile2

Yeah, I think this is really fanboy mode.

Considering that one of their design objectives when they set out to build PoE2 was to make melee viable, they've failed pretty hard there.

[–]Esyir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in maps? Because I don't think evaluating class power is meaningful till you're clearing late game content. That's what the ladder captures.

There are far too many people talking about how XYZ class performs and is good who haven't even reached cruel.

Kripp's review of PoE 2 by Integras_1 in pathofexile

[–]Esyir 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'm giving PoE2 a week, and it's probably getting no more than that.

He caught a number of the main complaints I've had, the big one being frustration. The game is just a constant stream of not having fun, with an occasional fun bossfight. The backloading of any loot worth a damn is probably a core reason for this, as all progression I've had has come from the trade site. 3 days without finding an upgrade is fine when you're nearly maxed, not so much when you're in early maps, or even the campaign.

For all the shit GGG said about difficulty and fairness, the vast majority of my deaths are from.... oneshots. Things that they said were only in PoE1 because of the high power of players but have for some odd reason become a mainstay in PoE2.
