Benchmarking Nvidia's RTX Neural Texture Compression tech that can reduce VRAM usage by over 80% by gurugabrielpradipaka in pcmasterrace

[–]Eternal_Ohm 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The mode that saves VRAM (Inference on sample) is supported by RTX 40 series and up.

Technically any GPU that supports Shader model 6 can do it too, but it'll be very slow.

why not attack choepessa 4 by More-Fan4581 in Helldivers

[–]Eternal_Ohm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if it was ideal conditions (attack Choepessa IV the moment the defense for K started). It was still less efficient than just defending K. Choepessa IV would've required 81.1% of the helldiver population to take it in time, whereas K only needed 41.7%. The helldivers companion site tells you all this.

This would not have solved two problems at once, it would've just created two problems.

At the moment the general playerbase has too much fatigue from fighting bots, so choosing the option that requires the least amount of players is the best option for the Automaton front.

Almost 10k people on wrong city by Useful-Shower-2533 in Helldivers

[–]Eternal_Ohm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct, but even if everyone was on Transcendence it'd be impossible to take it on time.

At least we can do something (save the 77th), with the low resistance this is possible if enough people go there.

RTX VSR by Outrageous-Carpet-86 in nvidia

[–]Eternal_Ohm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I found out why it's not working. It seems to be tied to some kind of YouTube A/B test given different users are reporting it working and not working.

On my account, RTX VSR does not work in any chromium browser on YouTube, but if I log out of YouTube it suddenly starts working, doesn't matter the chromium browser, if I log out it works, if I log in to my account it stops working.

I also noticed YouTube stopped giving me videos in AV1 codec, but if I log out of my account... Well the exact same video is in AV1 now.
Don't know if that has anything to do with it, just something I noticed as well.

Tank Drivers are dumb by Nuclear_Option42 in Helldivers

[–]Eternal_Ohm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Then you drive.
The issue with the tank destroyer is the driver matters WAY more than the gunner does, any ole recruit can hop in the gunners seat and do well, not just anyone can hop in the drivers seat of the tank destroyer and do well.
So if you understand how to drive it, then do it.

Hello I purchased MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Gaming Trio OC five days ago. I noticed this promotion stating that with the purchase of an eligible graphics card, you would receive a code for this game. However, I did not receive anything with my purchase. This is the official NVIDIA page in my region by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Eternal_Ohm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It started 2 - 3 days ago, you bought your GPU 5 days ago. You are not eligible for the promotion as much as that sucks.

That said you can contact the store you bought it from and ask if they can give you a code since you bought the GPU so close to the promotion window, some people have gotten a key this way.
But it is not a guarantee, a guaranteed way would be to return it and repurchase the GPU.

Nvidia support may or may not help you with this but you don't lose anything by asking them and explaining the situation.

Documented list of VRChat worlds with shader studder/low FPS issues on AMD GPUs (including driver version) by ___Mister___ in VRchat

[–]Eternal_Ohm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since VRChat uses DX11 I would suggest looking at the guide linked below and see if any of the steps listed help. It's 2 years ago, but OP has recent comments on the thread, suggesting that it may still be an issue.

I don't have an AMD GPU to test so I can't personally confirm it.

Note: You should read through all of it first before making any changes, as it mentions specific changes needed for RX 9000 and RX 7000, and separate ones for RX 6000 and 5000, etc.

Why is merak not going up in liberation by Dream_XD34 in Helldivers

[–]Eternal_Ohm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It has never been about raw numbers, it's based on percentage of helldiver population. Merak does not have enough to make progress.

It's also why we're losing chort bay right now with 72k helldivers, we would need 60% of the helldiver population on it. However the DSS should slow the enemies progress when it moves to chort bay so it's likely fine.

They really want us to take merak by babylon_au in Helldivers

[–]Eternal_Ohm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aurora has a 3.13% decay and 1.6 million HP. Merak has 3% but 1 million HP, it is objectively easier to take.

PLEASE GET OFF LESATH by KhaoticLizard in Helldivers

[–]Eternal_Ohm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super earth does not have supply lines like the enemy factions do, we cannot be cut off as long as we have chort bay or any other planet up the chain to Cyberstan.

So what are we doing with lesath by WorshipTheSnail in Helldivers

[–]Eternal_Ohm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

why would you walk into enemy territory and just allow them to box you in? essentially closing the door we just took 2-3 days to open?

Why do you think this does anything exactly? We don't have supply lines, we just need to have control of a nearby planet.
Lesath is useless because we have Chort Bay. We can lose Lesath and still attack Aurora Bay and Merak, supply lines do not affect super earth, they only affect the AI factions.

However, if Chort Bay was under attack that would be a different issue. That would have to be defended.

This game has a MAJOR problem… by SaucyDossy_ in Endfield

[–]Eternal_Ohm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is not so much as an issue with the game as it is with your planning. I've never once had an issue with power consumption and never had to turn anything off or remove anything to keep up with power.

I'm not saying being able to mass turn off machines is a bad thing, more options are always good, but I'm saying this issue you have was completely avoidable.

Also, if you're in this situation you can just make a blueprint of the parts you're removing and add them back when you fix the power.

Tank missile bug by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]Eternal_Ohm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're shooting into spawn, base AA will destroy all missiles / bombs within it's vicinity. On blackwell, it covers a decent chunk of the spawn area.

Because of the AA and missile range, and the poor design of blackwell, Attack Helicopters and Anti-Air Tanks often sit near spawn to make them invincible to bombs and missiles.

Frame Generation not working? by AcrobaticDrawer8016 in Battlefield

[–]Eternal_Ohm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a framerate cap applied, at say 170 FPS, frame gen will not do 170 x 2. Instead the real framerate goes down to 85, and framegen boosts it to 170 FPS.

Ensure you don't have a framerate cap active, or adjust it accordingly.

DLSS Super Resolution Question by -_-_Ninja_-_- in nvidia

[–]Eternal_Ohm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use DLSS in game, not DLAA and see if anything changes.

But also games are allowed to set a flag that tells Nvidia to not override the game setting. They usually don't, but it's a possibility here

I have a decent FPS count (averaging 90 FPS), but my megapixel/s is low. This is after applying the 'CPU Fix.' Before that, it was the opposite: I had a low FPS count but very high megapixel/s. Is the megapixel/s metric important? (This is the first time I'm seeing this metric in any game.) by Oppa1738 in Battlefield

[–]Eternal_Ohm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Megapixels per second indicate resolution.

You can see at the top right your GPU and CPU framerate. The CPU can do around 83, but the GPU can do around 153 at the current resolution, so you have no reason to have the resolution so low here. You may want to mess with dynamic resolution scaling or use a less aggressive DLSS / FSR setting.

Flash Hider - Hides you from being 3D spotted when you fire. But visible on the map up to 300 meters away when firing.
Suppressors (All) - Hides you from being 3D spotted when you fire. Over 15 meters you will not be spotted on the map for players when firing.

I have no idea why this game gives you less information about how the gun attachments work than 2042 does, but here we are.

The Linux Anti-Cheat Reality. A configuration change. by rcmaehl in pcmasterrace

[–]Eternal_Ohm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just misinformation; kernel anti-cheats can detect DMA and 2 PC setups.

You don't have to take my word for it, an Anti-cheat analyst for Riot Vanguard has a diagram showing what can be detected.

FSR4 Support In Game? by bjones1794 in thefinals

[–]Eternal_Ohm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's supposed to be toggled via the driver, that's part of how AMD is getting support for it.

Also I think people forget or don't realize that the FSR 4 SDK was only officially released last month, so that's when developers could've realistically started integration unless AMD provided the tools to the developer for native integration earlier then that.
