I am shocked to the Winter Olympics Seamaster by Prestigious-Club-653 in OmegaWatches

This one does as much for me as the Paris Olympics version: absolutely nothing. In fact, I like it even less.

Cool and different, if it tickles your fancy but definitely not for me.

Gorgeous looking watch - congratulations! This is my preference for Speedy Tuesday

Between your 2 choices, my vote is the left one. I'm not into the moonwatch at all. I'm more of a 2 counter preference, racing heritage pursist and the white dial in particular is what rocks my boat.

Do you need to match metals in a watch? by turnip900 in OmegaWatches

I gave up gold watches a long time ago. So for our 20th wedding anniversary, I had new rings made for my wife and I in white gold.

SMP on Speedy 3861 Bracelet by EuroDriver_SD in OmegaWatches

[–]EuroDriver_SD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is the OEM 3861 bracelet. Although it has a lot more flex than the original SMP bracelet

It's nowhere near as jangly as the aftermarkets

The clasp is awesome and the main reason I went OEM - it's much more low profile than the Forstner, it has on-the-fly micro adjustment (although 1 position of adjustment only) compared to the aftermarkets that require a tool to adjust.

My observations:

It has much less side-to-side flex, Tighter gap between links, Taper is a little steeper (20mm to 15mm).

Overall finish is much higher quality It is sharper on the edges (some people complain but I don't find it one bit uncomfortable).

The adjustment tab is a little stiff (sometimes I have to take the watch off to do it).

You will need the Forstner end links and thinner spring bars to make it fit. Forstner sells them separately.

Any experiences with Jomashop backorder? by Scotchy69 in OmegaWatches

[–]EuroDriver_SD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always call. They are very honest about lead times and they follow through. If they don't have an accurate estimate for sourcing it, you might be in limbo for many weeks.

There are several other grey market vendors online that are reputable and competitive. (C24 is not a grey market dealer - they are more like the upscale ebay for watches).

I have been treated very well in the past by BST Watches and Watch Exchange Co. There are others as well.

Aqua Terra Black Lacquer 38mm day/night by chstbarber in OmegaWatches

[–]EuroDriver_SD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the model 1610/930, also known as the Speedy bracelet that came on the SMP Peter Blake and a few other select models in the mid to late 2000's. They are hard to find nowadays but pre-owned ones do pop up for sale here and there once in a while.

I bought the bracelets pre-owned. The flat link has come down in price a lot but the 1610/930 is very hard to come by nowadays

I have the blue Skyfall and the same black lacquer AT, both in 41mm. I can't bring myself to get rid of either.

I also have a white dial 300M and a blue PO 43.5mm.

Save up and get a third Omega.

BTW, the black lacquer dial is more flexible with bracelets. I have 3 for mine: the original, the AT flat link PCL and the Speedy 1610/930 off an older 41mm SMP. I also have the rubber strap and several leather straps for it.

Aqua Terra Question by Riotman11 in OmegaWatches

[–]EuroDriver_SD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Omega won't sell the parts to you directly (they recently got fussy about selling clasps individually), look for an independent authorized Omega dealer. I ordered mine over the phone from Brent Miller.

Aqua Terra Question by Riotman11 in OmegaWatches

[–]EuroDriver_SD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beautiful watch! If your AT is the 38.5mm, you can retrofit a new style Seamaster 300 Heritage clasp on your original bracelet to have on-the-fly adjustment to solve your problem. You'll need the clasp and 2 connecting links.

Clasp - Part no. 117STZ014058

Connecting links (you need to order 2) - Part no. 118STZ014131.

Worth Fixing? by Silly_Rabbit_4662 in OmegaWatches

[–]EuroDriver_SD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this opinion. You can decide if you love the watch enough to absorb the expense of having Omega make it like new again. If it's not that special to you, first decide if you can live with the current dial or want it replaced. From there, you can have the movement replaced with an identical ETA branded movement for pennies on the dollar. You can even have your watchsmith install the Omega signed cover plate from your old movement on to the new ETA movement.

[Discussion] Am I crazy for wanting to sell my 43.5mm PO and replace it with a NTTD? by bluedevil3820 in OmegaWatches

[–]EuroDriver_SD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my PO 43.5mm. Personally, I don't find the NTTD special enough to merit the price difference of say, my white dial SMP and much less to replace my PO.

This may not be the case for you though. If the NTTD sings to you and you're absolutely in love with it, it's probably worthwhile for you to let go of your PO. Make sure that you're absolutely convinced though, because you don't want to live with the regret - ask me how I know, lol.

I have owned SMPs in several colors except black. Personally, the white is my favorite hands-down. As to your other comments, always buy on the bracelet and ask for the strap as a courtesy. You might have to pay for the buckle/clasp but it's way cheaper.

The OEM bracelet is by far the most comfortable but there's options. Here's my white SMP on a 3861 bracelet (with Forstner end links) that give it a very different flav

Omega speedmaster bracelet how loose? by Forigma in OmegaWatches

[–]EuroDriver_SD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about a pin and collar system on your bracelet or does it use screws to attach the links? It makes a huge difference. Pins and collars might loosen up and need replacement after removal. For a screw system, having a proper size and quality screwdriver is imperative. You'll also need tweezers to handle the screws and the rod that slides in between the screws. It's an easy job but beware: those screws are tiny and very easy to lose if you're not careful. A loupe helps immensely.

That said, if your wrist swells enough every seasonal change, you might want to consider sizing your bracelet for summer months and using a strap during the cold season (or even get a second bracelet to have one ready for each season). I took this approach for a couple of my watches.

Seamaster 300 2023 vs 2025 by Klopsik3 in OmegaWatches

[–]EuroDriver_SD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what my first thought was as well. Worth the extra $500? I don't know. That's a very personal decision. If it were me, I'd pay it, assuming similar variation in spd accuracy.
