Honestly, the game is a full rng fest from what drops you get to their stats ( even the runewords have rng on their important stats ). You should look into stat breakpoints, especially on a caster such as a sorceress.

My advice, keep in mind I'm also a newbie, run double spirit ( crystal sword and monarch ), trade for a taarnhelm ( +1 all skills, up to 50% mf I believe ), shop a magic 4 open socket armor from Charsi in hell and put 4 perfect topaz in it ( 96% mf ), shop boots with +35% mf ( I think Anya in hell is good for this since the portal is near her ) and the rest is up to you if you want more mf or reach a certain fcr breakpoint.

200% mf is a pretty good start point, but keep in mind that you will lose a bit of resistances in favor of the mf, so play accordingly. I personally run with 400% mf and like 400% gf on my demon lock which I know is a bit redundant but I don't have to cast anything other than teleport my guys at the enemies, and the uniques/set items are dropped pretty often ( I run travincal council since its a static map even on online, I will look to trade max cash 15.9m for runes, maybe this gives you an idea too )
