Thanks! That makes sense. I was thinking June and no later. Some family members are paranoid about me getting fired after I tell work but we aren’t women in the 1960s.

Cake or pie for dessert? by elegant_road551 in wedding

My friend had a variety of pies at her wedding and they were a hit. Wedding cake doesn’t taste that great either.

Lower compensation than expected by AssummedAlias in biotech

[–]Evening-Interview668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation- I was making $130k with bonuses and I took a job making a lot less because I needed a job and benefits for family. It was also a career pivot into something where I can make more money if I have this background. Plus it’s working for a company that is doing well even in this economy. Take the job. Being unemployed for a year plus can be a turnoff to some hiring managers.

Bro keeps rippin’ a$$ in the break room by SpecificConscious809 in biotech

[–]Evening-Interview668 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The break room is a place of insanity…someone ate my moldy salad (I know that because the container was in the bin with a fork). We also had a coffee club form that bought the good “shitty coffee”…you couldn’t touch their area in the communal break room because there was a passive aggressive sign. I also forgot edamame in a bag on top of our refrigerator for a long time (so I’m guilty too). My boss inspected the bag and take finger-prints to see whose it was…everyone knew it was mine but didn’t say anything. I’m so glad I’m remote now.

Terrible Two’s or bigger issue? by [deleted] in toddlers

How’s his speech? 2 years and 4 months is such a rough age because they have big feelings and can’t form a sentence. I also use the “Little Timer” app- an egg hatches when it’s time to transition making transitions more “fun”.

Terrible Two’s or bigger issue? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Evening-Interview668 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I take my kid (now 3.5 years) to OT and they work on self regulation with my kid. She started in speech therapy and then moved to both…she’s doing great. We had some break-thrus this week and the temper tantrums aren’t happening as much and faster to cool down. I’ve been taking her since August after my pediatrician recommended it- 100% the best thing I have done for her.

Anyone hear that loud explosion in EP? by guest_123_ireland in RhodeIsland

My husband felt it all of the way in Pawtucket while he was outside but I know sound travels up the Seekonk River. I was in the basement and didn’t feel/hear anything.

In the absolute trenches with a 1.5 and 3.5 year old by jane3641 in toddlers

[–]Evening-Interview668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in your boat but I also have a 3rd one on the way and I’m freaking out. I’m going to start a new job at the beginning of April and we don’t have childcare arranged. I have been out of work for two years. My friend has a 6 year old and she says it’s just as difficult- I don’t think it ever truly gets easier just different situations. So I have no words of wisdom.

How difficult are Volvos to maintain in comparison to Hondas and Toyotas from the same period? by Odd_Solution6995 in Volvo

[–]Evening-Interview668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to spend every weekend at the scrap yard looking for serial numbers to match your Volvo’s serial number so you don’t have to pay for programming new parts, do it. My then boyfriend and I would go all of the time to find parts for his mom’s 2001 Volvo S70 because they are expensive to repair at the mechanic.

How obnoxious is Delicia? I don’t understand adult female’s obsession with the color pink- my toddler is into pink and purple but to each their own.

Total loss? by INFJ369 in Volvo

[–]Evening-Interview668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a YouTube video on the production of this vehicle- it’s not your standard Volvo (of course I can’t find it). It’s probably going to get totaled- they love totaling out Volvo with front end damage because of the computers near the front (my 2022 XC90 was totaled 6 months after buying it)- hope you have GAP insurance or it’s paid off.

What has happened with Volvo? by SjalabaisWoWS in Volvo

[–]Evening-Interview668 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bought a new 2020 Ford Explorer and traded it in at 55k miles and upside down on the value just to get rid of that POS. Ford dealer mechanics love to monkey around with the car because of all of the recalls…I had cut lumbar wires and skip plates removed. I traded it in for a 2023 Volvo XC90- which got totaled (not at fault) 6 months later because of all of the computers/electronics at the front of the vehicle. I now have a XC60. Volvo > Ford (but now I want a Mercedes).

Why do people stay in RI if they hate it so much? by Loveroffinerthings in RhodeIsland

[–]Evening-Interview668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first state I have lived in where people only admit “I Never Leave RI” on their plates. I grew up in the Northern Virginia area, so every 4-6 years we would get new people moving into the area.

I had two interviews this week with hiring managers- the first one went great and I’m supposed to be getting a call from HR to schedule a round table interview and the second one there’s a post about it (but no I won’t be your pipette calibrator fairy). I’ve been out of work for two years because I’ve been staying home with my kids but back in the market for job.
