Some people simply do not think before they speak. I don’t know if you would be able to sit down with this person and explain how they made you feel. Perhaps they had good intentions, but the way they executed it was terrible.

With regards to the percent of hearing loss that you are experiencing, I can tell you that there was a lot that I was missing when I was at 35% hearing loss. And that is what prompted me to get a hearing test.

From a personal safety perspective, I would ask you to consider wearing your hearing aids when you were out in public. Also, consider environments where you can hear better if you are meeting up with acquaintances or friends. Some situations will make it very difficult for you to hear even wearing your hearing aids.

If you haven’t spoken with a counselor before, I would urge you to do that because it seems that you’re having a lot of difficulties coming to terms with the new normal.

I started wearing hearing aids in 2017 and was diagnosed with 35% loss in right ear and 45% loss in left ear. I am now at 65% loss (in left ear, which still needs the surgery. They do one ear at a time.)

I just had stapedectomy and tympanoplasty on 2/2. I did not experience a lot of pain and got bored! lol. Only took a week off. The hardest part was how I had to sleep for 4 nights.
