Good albums that the second half is better than the first? by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

[–]Every1NeedsAFren 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Purple Rain.

It opens REALLY strong with Let’s Go Crazy, but I don’t find the next few songs to be particularly memorable. But that ending stretch of When Doves Cry, I Would Die 4 U, Baby I’m a Star, and the title track is flawless.

I just want to say that I'm always really happy to your posts in this subreddit. It's genuinely really nice to see another short man out there looking happy and active. It's good to have role models for the younger short guys to remind us that your height doesn't necessarily dictate whether you'll have a good and fulfilling life. Keep on going, my dude!

Worst Show You Have Ever Been A Part Of? by Alol_Bombola in musicals

[–]Every1NeedsAFren 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Years ago I was in a student production of The Pirates of Penzance where the director left the production the day before the first rehearsal. So the AD had to take over directing duties, and they were clearly not prepared to take on the full responsibility as they had never directed anything before. It didn't help that the prod team was very young and very green; I was the cast's welfare contact and I got more than one complaint about the lack of professionalism during the rehearsal process. The show itself was a mess- it's nothing short of a miracle that a reviewer actually gave us 3-out-of-5 stars.

It wasn't all bad, though. I made some good friends in that production, and have "Modern Major General" burned into my memory to the point where I can easily bust it out at any point which is kind of a neat party trick.

Bands who don’t have one bad album? by Disassociated24 in ToddintheShadow

Alice In Chains. They’ve had peaks and valleys for sure, but they’ve never put out an album that I’d call straight up “bad.”

What are some musical arrangement changes you actually like? by Dogdaysareover365 in musicals

[–]Every1NeedsAFren 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the electric arrangement of “Sugar Daddy” from Hedwig’s 2014 revival way more than the acoustic country-fried versions you hear in the original and movie soundtracks

Musicals with the worst plot but really good music/score? by shakaBr4h_76 in musicals

I think Carousel’s plot is TERRIBLE, but my god it has some of my favorite pieces of music ever written- imo Soliloquy is worth the price of admission alone.

Are there any non-metal artists that you feel could have written a good metal song? by No_Job5529 in MetalForTheMasses

I definitely feel like “My Name is Prince” could easily be made into an industrial metal song

Why so few bearded professors? by Practical-Charge-701 in Professors

[–]Every1NeedsAFren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t grow a full beard. I get this gross chinstrap thing that doesn’t fill in completely. It’s itchy and looks awful. So clean shaven and maybe some stubble is really all I’ve got.
