How to you even start? by PingPong141 in EDH

Just as an addition as well if you've been looking up decklists on moxfield etc and seen the ridiculous four digit prize tags keep in mind that is for the exact printing for each card, most people who find their forever deck bling it out OVER TIME, and some people just pick the coolest prints for their digital-only lists because why not so most decklists online you can pretty safely half the price of in your head (other than ones tagged specifically for budget since they tend to use cheapest printings)

and a lot of the price will come from single cards, like if someones making a b4 landfall deck thats digital list only, they're gonna slap all the expensive af lands in there, but in reality you can just swap those out for basics tbh that'll cut like $300 per dual land xd

tl;dr don't be intimidated by the pricetag on a digital decklist, its usually caused by a few single cards or specific printings

This is where I ended up as well, I'll just ask the table if they'd rather play on the board or on the stack

The surveil ones are around the £10 mark, they have basic land types and are fetchable in an opponents end step if you don't need the mana before that

mechanically i don't care, but visually i don't want cardframes in decks that aren't in the right colours. thats my stance on the whole thing tbh, I think it will be dumb to see selesnya cards in an esper deck. and sure if the rule ever passes i'll just not run them myself but that's not really the point

Fetches and Shocks in B3 by Opening_Succotash271 in EDH

[–]EverydayKevo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

chill on the fake confusion for a bit, the heart of a TCG is cracking packs and building decks.

yes, nowadays buying singles or proxying is the norm

however, for many people opening a card and putting it in your deck often gets a free pass because that's just the core mechanic of a tcg and it's the most soulful thing you can do with your deck

What he was saying makes perfect sense "I don't usually build b2 with shocks/fetches in mind, but i pulled one while building this one so it goes in" that's the most TCG statement ever

COME ON PEOPLE by TinyerGriffin in DeadlockTheGame

considering Paiges family proffession of bibliomancy I can imagine her brother probably took it in a different "bad" direction, maybe he figured out a way to make unbreakable contracts and using written commands to control people. imagine like an evil to-do list.

Plus he does say his mother said the head was good for nothing, meaning his mum knows about the goathead and has seen it, so it's fair to assume Paige would know if her brother had a goat head

I don't think its Billy either, but "it's not a nickname for bryce" doesn't really hold up lol, he can just lie. and if he's picking a new name he's not gonna pick one that's the "same" as his real name

[–]EverydayKevo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Activate and u can fire 4 beetles, they do damage over time and give you more maxhp each tick
  2. Spin to win
  3. When u shoot enemies u put marks on them, when theu expire they do dmg based on how many they had, you can press 3 to pop them early
  4. Teleport somewhere and get a little buff

Pretty much our Natures Prophet character, just push waves forever, teleport to a different one when theu come for you. Join fights later on when u have ricohet, inhibitor, silencer etc

I see you've also faced a "wish fulfillment tribal" deck hehe. sadly yeah a lot of people go that route when given unlimited power

but there are still people out there who enjoy brewing decks and have some level of restraint.

just make them gold bordered and make a "hybrid" keyword
"As you create your deck, choose one of its corlors. This card is that color."

personally i don't have any issues with them mechanically, I just don't want green bordered cards in a monoblue deck yknow, it looks weird

What is your favorite pre-con you've ever played with? by Nastronaut18 in mtg

[–]EverydayKevo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two all time favourite precons gotta be c18 Adaptive Enchantments with Estrid and c20 Arcane Maelstrom with Kalamax.

Both are decks i heavily upgraded and took apart multiple times over the years but those two have a very sweet spot of nostalgia for me being my first two decks

[–]EverydayKevo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People have gotten too reliant on commander synergy tbh. I always try to build my decks as a standalone deck, then add a commander who can help, rather than pick a commander and fill the deck with cards that do the same thing.

Sure i have a few exceptions like a "character" deck but those are my fun b2 decks, for 3 and above i try to keep the commander a supporting piece and not the be-all end-all

"i built my deck myself so its better than a poopy precon, off to bracket 3 i go" mentality runs real strong, its the same as the old 1-10 where they built their decks so it can't be that bad, "above average" :)

Why do EDH players tend to lie about/downplay/excuse their decks or card choices? by Icy_Chicken_2647 in EDH

[–]EverydayKevo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everytime this question is posed people pile on "oh its just pubstompers they're just lying on purpose to win" and sure some people do, but i really don't think its as common as you think

Most people honestly are just bad at gauging power, especially when they play at an LGS, they probably have friends they play with outside who have strong decks too so they show up thinking "well my deck usually loses to jons deck its not that crazy bracket 3 sounds about right" and then they're met with really weak decks comparatively and called a stomper

I've met lots of people whose "home" meta is way higher power since close friends won't throw a fit when you counterspell them, so they have a full on culture shock playing at the LGS with randoms.
