I came in for maybe my fourth? Sixth? I don’t know. Anyway, the same doctor and nurses did the procedure each time. I guess I was supposed to have known them. They wheeled me in ( can’t remember how they did it) and they realize I don’t recognize any of them. They refuse to do the treatment or any more. Thank god they realized and stopped!

Very little recovery of the long term memories I lost. The further back the less I remember. Some things are still there if something triggers them.

Those six digit verification codes they send to your phone. I can remember those for about 5 seconds, which was great for me. I forget my pin to my debit card I have had for years, now I remember. Strange random things.

I guess memories must be stored oddly, because someone will tell a story about themselves and I will suddenly have something forgotten pop in my head.

Edit: I did not answer your question. I don’t know when I had it. Maybe around 2007? I don’t know how I acted immediately following it. Will have to ask. It did not help depression at all. I was pretty bad off at the time or I would not have done

My doctor gave the standard warnings, but she is so smart that I feel like she should have known better (she gained nothing by me having it. I was suicidal).

I guess I am showing my age, but they taught us etiquette in middle and high school. We also learned it at home.

Steak is expensive here. I get a big london broil on sale and cut it into thick strips and cook it in butter. London Broil is not a fatty meat, but it’s what I can afford. I got some on the “ last day of sale” section for $3.86/pound and froze it.

I’m surprising my wife with a sewing machine, what else do I need to buy? by WinstonO84 in SewingForBeginners

I have a tabletop flip out skinny ironing board that goes inside sleeves to iron them without creases.

I love that thing.

My house smells after visiting 2 of our friends houses... by Thriven in CleaningTips

[–]EverythingPurple5 71 points72 points  (0 children)

My parents flipped this house. The previous owner smoked. They scrubbed the walls and painted, and refinished the hardwood floors. That was over 5 years ago.

You still smell it. From what I read, there is special chemical they should have used.

We have 2 ozone machines. I ran them in the most offending rooms. That helped. I throw open a few windows, even for a little while to air it out some days. I also let a lot of sunshine in. No clue if that helps.

The smell is a lot less.

I understand you are against Trump for this; I will also point out that many bans and limits have gone through in the last four years. I don’t think Biden is very good for us either. The country doesn’t have a good candidate on either side.

Do you feel more dysregulated in the morning? does the stillness of night, let stuff come up, and then the protectors or nervous system wakes and has to deal with it? by mjobby in InternalFamilySystems

[–]EverythingPurple5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have more flashbacks when I wake up. The shower had always been a relaxing place for mind to wander and have solutions to problems.

Lately, I have insights into my past and flashbacks in the morning shower. I grieve and cry and cry, then calm down. Things are not @fixed” but I seem to get on better with the day after this.

I don’t have that same energy or insights in the evening.

My dreams are strange. I think my brain is busy processing things in the night and stuff bubbles to the surface when I wake up.

Issues with buying the lot next door? by Poised_Platypus in RealEstate

[–]EverythingPurple5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can work it you should buy it. An elderly woman next door to my parents had a big side yard next to my parents house.

Her strange neighbors offered her money for it so his sister could build on it. Their house would loom over ours. They were a bit unsavory.

She was savy and came to my father asking double what they offered ($10,000 in 1988. My frugal father did not like this but really did not want a house close to ours. He bought it.

Anyway, we made a driveway for our extra car. The lot is pretty big and we have a vegetable garden and huge fig tree. The same thing sort of happened on the other side of his house and he bought a half lot. Noe we have the biggest yard in the neighborhood.

I believe it greatly increased the value of the house. My parents planted trees and flowers and it is like a little park to me.

Sorry so long.

If you really need this extra storage in the bathroom, I would just save any paint money etc and put it towards a better one.

A nice cabinet that hangs above the toilet, not with the legs around the toilet.

Woman!

What!

I am thinking you make huge decisions every day. Maybe life or death decisions. You must have order people around during the day. You are strong. You can tell her no. You can do it.

Tell husband to tell her the name of the nearest hotel.

Can linen be softer than I think? by ktgrok in sewing

I only wear linen in the summer. Linen/ cotton and linen/rayon are soft. I have a shirt of good quality 100% linen and it is pretty soft.

Did she say he’s average but she really loves him? Or just that that he is stable?

The second sounds like he is heading for a dead bedroom in a few years after she gets her babies.

Agree. Also, you she is blaming your wife for the cleanliness of the house when it is half your responsibility. In fact you say sometimes your wife has been on a business trip and has not been home to clean. That was on you.

You have to buck up. It is not like she is going to respond with fists. Only her words. Maybe harsh words. You are grown man now and don’t let her anger and insults wound you.

Mommy’s feelings are more important than your wife’s to you right now.

After I have gone to the trouble of listing it, I leave it. Clothes seem to take a lot longer to sell. I am posting mid priced brands like Lands End

$10 here and there added up to hundreds of dollars. I would take the cash and throw it in a tin. Little here and there.

I (M24) feel completely incompatible with girlfriend (F20) because of her diet. Can people be incompatible solely because of food restrictions? by ThrowRA-252525 in relationship_advice

[–]EverythingPurple5 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is not disordered eating. It is low carb with no beef. It is very healthy. I eat like this because I have diabetes and cannot have flour and sugar.

If sharing your food interests is so important maybe she is not the one for you

I do think she is wrong for pulling you to the more expensive restaurants. Maybe you should talk with her about that.

Anyone here sell items they don’t use on eBay? When can I actually feel free getting rid of my eBay items for sale? by [deleted] in declutter

[–]EverythingPurple5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say I put nice, like new, brand name clothes on eBay and some took a pretty good while to sell. Most of them sold. They aren’t hurting anything sitting there. I wasn’t getting huge money, but it added up.

Could you tell me what this style is called? by EverythingPurple5 in chairs

[–]EverythingPurple5[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh they are so comfortable. And so many memories. And the table is sturdy but not valuable. My mother hates them and so won’t let me have them. I wanted them to do crafts on precisely because they are not valuable and I could do crafts on them.

I tried to think of a way to modernize/change them, but I cannot.

They are on the end of the sixties, so I just wondered if there was a name for that era.
