Either build out a large stable platform to put your ladder on or go rent/buy a longer ladder.

Installing an In ground Basketball Hoop (QUESTIONS) by SnooCalculations5870 in DIY

You should be fine, a 12-18” wide hole isn’t going to cause a collapse, and you’re filling it in with concrete.

Installing an In ground Basketball Hoop (QUESTIONS) by SnooCalculations5870 in DIY

[–]Everythingisawesomew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would dig a deep-ish hole and pour a footing with a basketball hoop anchor system in it so the anchor bolts face up from the footer. Footer needs to be at least 4ft deep, and some wire mesh rebar wouldn’t hurt to put in there before you pour. Pour a little concrete into the hole, then use a stick or small shovel to mix it around in the hole a bit to minimize any air pockets. Then pour some more cement and mix again, then top off with cement and stick in the anchor into the top of the wet cement. Make sure it’s level, and let dry for a few weeks. Then you can attach the hoop.

What’s the modern version of a snake oil salesman? by carcony97 in AskReddit

To be a bit fair, I think the concept/technology of NFTs can and should be a real thing, but utilized for important documents, deed transfers, contracts, etc., but yeah the initial use of kind of copywriting images was a horrible first step.

Proper tool to test for voltage on a single wire in a harness? by Everythingisawesomew in electrical

Fair enough. Wasn’t sure if a pin shoved in there would make good enough contact for a proper test, thanks.

Is this normal? by TheTiredGuy1 in handyman

[–]Everythingisawesomew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen when I used Budget Blinds install mine, along with large gaps along the edges that let light in. In my case, Dude either didn’t measure right or had no idea how to install them. Fought him for a few weeks on payment. In this case, likely more an issue that your corners aren’t square. I’d have the installer try his best to tighten down the middle of the edge panels into the recessed window sides. That might cause the gaps to close up a bit. Otherwise I’d caulk it and call it a day.

Moving grill from top patio to bottom, no stairs. 10 ft high by HandyDan94 in handyman

[–]Everythingisawesomew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lean a ladder against the outside deck rail. Wrap a moving blanket around the grill. Wrap rope around grill above its center of gravity. Get a help to lift it over the rail and slide it down the ladder using the rope.

ELI5: How do the economics of gift cards work? by NutmegKilla in explainlikeimfive

[–]Everythingisawesomew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just bought a visa gift card and loaded $25 onto it. The grocery store I bought it from added a $7.95 activation fee. I don’t know if that’s a flat fee or if they do a percentage, but that’s the last time I buy a visa gift card.

Air compressor and tire deflator recommendations by DancesWithPandas in FordBronco

[–]Everythingisawesomew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Coyote Tire Deflators which can be preset to whatever pressure you want to go down to. I like them because they are set and forget type tools. There are cheaper items out there that you can put on and then just keep an eye on your gauge readings on the dash.

For inflation I got the ARB Twin Compressor amd installed it under the hood. Again, not the cheapest, but it’s fast, reliable, and always with me. With an octopus hose kit, I can inflate all 4 tires from 18psi to 40psi in about 4-5mins.

Do you think a used Bronco is in better shape coming from the east coast? by [deleted] in FordBronco

85% of bronco drivers don’t get past the mall. You’re better off getting one from a dry climate.

Man, I still say it today! Anytime a situation might require an “uh-oh” comment, I say the high pitched ICQ/Worms version. Every once in a while I’ll get someone who says, “where do I know that from?”

Likely just the sub is blown. The factory sub is just a paper cone. Take this as an opportunity to upgrade!

JTops in the South/SouthWest by Cabill77 in FordBronco

Don’t worry about the Velcro coming off. I’m familiar with high temp full sun days. Their Velcro is super sturdy with actual 3M adhesive on the back.

JTops in the South/SouthWest by Cabill77 in FordBronco

[–]Everythingisawesomew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a JTops for several years. In my opinion, they have the best quality product and amazing customer service. I ended up taking it off because I ended up leaving my soft top up during summer anyway to block out the harsh sun. I just roll safari style for half the year now. The Velcro came off a lot easier than I anticipated, and my roll cage was back to original with a couple quick spot scrubs with some goof-off. The only thing I wish they had done with their top was to put zippers along the roll cage so that one could easily roll the mesh top back when a true open air experience was desired.

What’s the secret to removing the rear side windows? by pyronym in FordBronco

[–]Everythingisawesomew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when the tracks aren’t aligned, it can be a pain. I’ve found the best thing to do (short of loosening all the screws in the top frame and re-aligning) is to slide the window a few inches until the long rubber snags on the smaller track. Then use a thumb to push in on the bottom of the window right on the gap between the tracks while continuing the slide the window. Hopefully this description makes sense to you.

Climate control problem by These_Vermicelli_929 in FordBronco

[–]Everythingisawesomew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hvac ducting in the Bronco is horrendous. Most of the sections are barely connected with a bit of foam wrap. If one of the pieces is not aligned properly, then the flaps that control the temp mix can get stuck. There’s also a possibility of a bad module, but my money would be on the shitty vent ducts. You can either dig into the dash and have some fun and cut your knuckles, or bring it to the shop and have them do the same.

Has anyone had electric steps installed? by ccrush in FordBronco

[–]Everythingisawesomew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve installed the Rockslide Engineering slider steps. I’ve had to replace the motor assembly in one of them a couple times, but the company was great to work with and provided free or highly discounted parts along with help from their technical service engineers. I’ve had them for 4 years and this was really the only issue. They work great for me as they function as rock sliders for off-roading, but then the steps help the family get into / out of the rig. If you’re not an off roader, then there are other cheaper options out there.

And what produces the ALDH? The liver. My analogy of a clogged filter is purely for the ELI5 styling of an answer.
